We were a party of five. The waiters were all friendly, well groomed and knowledgable about the food and wine. We all had steaks and every single person at the table thought the food was exceptional. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant if you feel like god really good steak and chips.

A nice place in a shopping mall, Dale's restaurant is always worth a visit, however thinking back some years ago when Dale founded the original restaurant at Bloubergstrand, the Dale's Black Angus Grill doesnt have the same flair and the food is very basic with to flexibility if you are a vegetarian - the menu is fixed and even you would like to order your veggie meal during the day for the evening the management cant handle it and there is no chance that they are flexible to prepare something new as you dont want to eat the same as the night before. There are no options for vegetarians! Around the corner at Woolworths you will find lots of vegetables such as green asparagus and mushrooms but Dale's cant organise this for you, what a shame - the service was fantastic and our waiter was even going to buy a bottle of ''non chilled'' water at one of the supermarkets as Dale only serves ice cold bottle water, however the ''Manager'' an overstressed and nervous guy cant answer questions on the menu and simply refused to be flexible, it appeared that he didnt need to have our business as the restaurant was full anyway. Another bad experience was the visit to the toilet which leads behind the kitchen through a service area, not clean at all and the false sealing covering the kitchen is visible as you climb up the stairs to the toilet area and there are small openings in it where you can see in the kitchen - needs an urgent cleaning, dont want to know which dirt can fall down from this false sealing landing in the food being prepared under it in the kitchen. False sealing is not hygienic at all as all types of animals can move on it and dust being collected. Sorry but not coming back!

We stopped by on a lazy Sunday afternoon - not particularly hungry.

Dale's is well known for its Sunday buffet (at R99, $9) per person. Given the limited veggie options on that menu, we decided to go a la carte. Vegetarian options ranged from salads to starters. Pizza, previously on the menu - was no longer available.

We opted for the Veggie platter (rice, pumpkin, almond Camembert wheel, crumbed mushroom, baby potatoes) and I tried the Nacho's. Service was friendly and efficient. I would recommend booking a table if you are going for the buffet as the place fills up quickly - especially on a Sunday. There are several tables outdoors and more inside - choose the latter if you can't handle noisy kids playing in the little play area outside.

Meals were generous and tasty. I felt the tomato base in the Nachos were a little too sweet. Platter components were nicely sized and delicious. Staff assisted us with a dry white wine which complimented the meals.

All in all a simple, tidy and hassle-free experience for a quick meal. If you have time, there's usually a Charlie Chaplain or some other silent movie projected on their large wall! We also found out there is a sports bar at the back, if you keen for a drink or to watch the game. Meals, drinks and tip came to less than R200, $20.

Food was excellent as was the service. The owner is very attentive and visits the table often to check and say hi. Would definitely recommend!
