We frequently stay here - it would be impossible to find better hostesses and a more breathtaking setting at the foothills of the Swartberg mountains. We often have odd requests like a table for my husband to work late at night etc and they've always have exceeded our expectations. When my dad passed away, I found an endearing note on my pillow on arrival. Tharina and Annelie have become not only friends, but they feel like family too. Very special ladies and always warm and welcoming. Ps. Aunt Sophie's delicious breakfast roosterkoek and vetkoek is to blame for my Klein Karoo weight gain!

We stayed at this B&B for one night during our tour of South Africa. The rooms are on a farm and are old style, with wooden beams, rock floors, etc. They have been updated to include great big tubs and amenities though and our room was huge!

The property is amazing and includes a peacock wandering around, a pond, some water features, 2 ostriches, and fruit trees. There is a neighbouring bakery on the property owned by the daughter but we didn't go to it.

The owner was very helpful, kind and welcoming. We had decided not to book dinner at Oue Werf and instead went into town a bit to a place they had recommended. Breakfast was hearty and hot, with a great selection of cereals, eggs, toast, breads, fruit, etc. There is wi-fi on the property but was spotty in our room - we had better luck in the dining area and the adjacent porch.

What a wonderful peaceful valley, the view from our room was perfect and we were made so welcome. Thank you for a lovely stay. Hope the ostriches have hatched. We especially enjoyed our early morning cuppa in the tree house, kids once more.

The rooms and facilities were well mainained and the overall Guesthouse, with it's view of the mountains created a great feeling of tranquility. The age range in our group of 6 was 3, 5, 17, 18 and 2 Adults and we all enjoyed it.

We spent 2 weeks travelling around South Africa and This was the only place we stayed that we did not enjoy. It's safe to say that the overall impression we received from the moment we arrived to when we left was that we were an inconvenience to the family who run the place.

The room we stayed can only be described as a converted out-house, with bare concrete floors, roughly plastered walls and worst of all, a two inch gap between the bottom of the door and the floor. This might not have been that much of an issue were we not right in front of a stream where we could hear the frogs and insects all night. Also, we happened to arrive on a very rainy day which increased the likelyhood of flying creatures seeking refuge in our room. I'm shivering again as I think of that night!!

We had been told (warned!!) that breakfast was sricktly served between 8 and 9am as this was a working farm and they didn't have time to hang around for us so we rose early after our poor sleep to be greeted by our "fresh" fruit already sitting on a table for us, drowned in yogurt. This was the least appetising fruit I had seen in Africa so we decided to wait for our cooked breakfast. My husband ordered bolied eggs and we were slightly surprised to see them arrive out less than 2 minutes later. The less said about the clear, runny mess that greeted him when he cracked the eggs, the better. the next morning, we decided not to rise for breakfast as it was inedible the previous day only to be woken by a knock on the door summoning us down as they had already put out the fruit. They were not too please when we declined.

There were several other incidents to make us feel like guests are an inconveniece - we asked for recommendations for somewhere to get dinner and were told to "go into town somewhere" as they were not serving that night, but would be serving dinner the following night. We were treaed to lecture on how many generations the farm has been in the family - which I think is a lovely thing - but it was forced on us after a 5 hour car journey when it may have been wiser to show us to our room and allow us to freshen up slightly first. Again, they could not do much about the weather but no fires were evident and doors to the main building were constantly open, making it uncomfortably cold to sit it.

All in all, a very bad experience that I will never be repeating.

My girlfriend and I had a really lovely stay at this guesthouse. The rooms are saparated in little houses what we really liked. We only had one night there and we had a good time. In the evening we had the homecooked 3-course meal and it was perfect.

Our family stayed at the Oue Werf for three nights and will definitely be going back. Nothing was too much trouble, breakfasts were organised early for the mornings we had to leave early. We had lunch in the coffee shop on site and the food was delicious and very good value for money. Plenty of space for children to run around. Highly recommended.
