Thanks for a perfect stay. We enjoyed the pool, nice garden, breakfast under the trees and recommendations of the landlord. Thanks for the free welcome drink. There was only a frigde missing in the room, but we were allowed to deposit our bottles in the bars fridge.

stopped at la pension on a road trip to Cape Town. Hosts were very helpful and efficient, rooms were luxurious, with fresh clean white linen and large bathrooms with shower and bath. Aircon in the rooms kept us cool while it was 36 degrees outside. The swimming pool is set in a lovely garden and sparkling clean. They have an honesty bar and even provided us with welcome drinks. Definitely recommended. Only thing I would suggest, is that they put wi-fi in the rooms.

This was a delightful place to stay for two nights and we wish it could have been longer. The rooms are comfortable and the breakfast substantial. It is set an easy walking distance from the main street and is secluded and tranquil. Ideal for relaxing but also convenient for exploring the surrounding countryside. Venita, the owner, is particularly helpful with advice on the neighbourhood attractions. There is a pool, a self service bar and pleasant gardens in which to wind down at the end of the day. Perfect for visiting the Little Karoo area.

This is a very good B&B. Everything you see in the photos is accurate. Ok, there is no TV in the bedroom and the bathroom amenities could be improved upon. But these are minor and otherwise, the room is fully functional and very clean--cleanliness being an area some B&Bs slacken. Yes, the range of food at breakfast is limited as one might expect with a B&B but the hot breakfast of eggs, bacon, tomato and mushroom and the fruits, cereal, juice and coffee and tea are all reasonably good.

The fly in the ointment is the various notices warning guests not to waste water, not to waste electricity, not to dump "foreign objects" into the toilet bowl. The kicker was a disclaimer at the back of the slip one signs to check in. The disclaimer on the back excludes the B&B from all "any liability in respect of loss, damage, injury, accident, delay or inconvenience to any person or their luggage or other personal property under any circumstances whatsoever while visiting." From my understanding of Commonwealth law, and a typo elsewhere on the slip suggesting that it was not drafted by a lawyer, the disclaimer is probably invalid.

I had no problems whatsoever during my stay and Venita and Errol were very friendly and helpful. I'm puzzled by the invalid disclaimer as it really is the fly in the ointment.

The stay was perfect until the end which I will get to. Venita was so friendly, she had menus for restaurants she recommended, took care of making reservations, and spent time with us to help us map out our day in Oudtshoorn. We only had the next day enroute to the vineyards.

The bar is self-serve on honor code. The room was very spacious and well decorated. There were fresh flowers and lavender on the pillows. However, the pillows need to be replaced, badly. We did not sleep well even being tired and worn from the day, and had to wake up at 5am for the Meerkat tour.

Despite the crappy pillow, I'd still recommend this guesthouse. It was lovely and relaxing, and a short drive from town. The only major issue was checking out. I had remembered paying a small deposit. A woman that was checking us out said there was nothing on record. Instead of double checking with Venita she insisted there was no deposit and had there been one it would have been on record. She was a bit rude and patronizing. I went to find the receipt but by the time I had come back Venita had cleared it up. The situation could have been handled a lot better and saved us about 20 min of going back and forth. She did not even apologize for the mix-up. If not for this I would have rated it 5 stars.

We found this little gem of a place through reading other travellers' reviews on TripAdvisor and we were not disappointed.

Vonita, who own and runs the place, is a wonderful host who has created a perfect little oasis in the middle of Oudtshoorn, and a perfect base for discovering everything the area has to offer.

We stayed in the cottage, which was beautifully appointed and had two bedrooms, a large bathroom and a nice living room/kitchen. The attention to detail was exquisite in all aspects, including a wonderful breakfast (included in the rate).

We can wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone travelling through the area. In fact, it's even worth going to Oudtshoorn just to experience Vonita's hospitality!

I stayed at La Pension Guest House in Oudtshoorn for two nights (17th and 18th December) as part of a group of four adults. The very friendly owner, Venita, greeted us and showed us around the guest accommodation and garden, including a lovely pool area and self-service bar, before inviting us for a welcome drink while filling in our registration.

The rooms are very spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfasts are fantastic and vary from day to day with fresh fruits and different accompaniments for the eggs.

Venita serves the breakfasts herself, with help from her staff, and one can see that the whole place is well run. We securely parked our cars off the road, on the premises. Venita recommended a restaurant in Oudtshoorn, which was very good.

I would highly recommend this guest house to anyone, a thoroughly good experience!

Room Tip: I think all the rooms are good, the guest house is not on a busy road and almost all rooms seem to o...
