We were only for one day at the Gumtree and it was great. It is a lovely place, nice rooms and pool and very friendly staff.
They made a reservation in a very nice restaurant for us and the breakfast was delicious.
Thank you for everything!
Many regards
Vera & Markus

We stayed only for one night in "The Gumtree" and enjoyed it very much. The couple owning the guesthouse is absolutely friendly and courteous - not only were we offered a welcome drink in the beginning, they both know Oudtshoorn and its surroundings very well and immediately gave us a lot of valuable tips for our journey. Unfortunately we had no time to enjoy the pool - however, it seemed to be very clean and romantic. The rooms are fine and convey a little "Africa-feeling" through their design. The only little negative point to say is that the wooden room doors are not very solid/robust, but we felt nevertheless safe. All in all we had a wonderful stay there.

Phil, who is the main man, worked hard to ensure our stay was enjoyable and all went smoothly. Whilst it was not his fault that there was a power out, he did not charge us for the drinks we had had, as compensation. Enjoyed our stay

My grandfather and I stayed for 1 night at the Gumtree last week, and we enjoyed it. On arrival, we were met by Phil, who showed us to our room. The room was quite large, with a view of the garden and had decking at the front - a nice gesture. We had a complementary welcome drink with Phil and Linda, who told us a little about them, and we did the same in return.

The location of the Gumtree is good as well, with a short walk to the town centre, which is exactly what we did. The town of Outshoorn itself is not very "touristy" like Knysna, where we visting before, however, it is a welcome stop, and worth it for one or two nights.

The bathroom was good, with a very powerful shower and good facilites. Unfortunately, in the bedroom, there was a very small and old television which really was not up to the standard of the guest house. However, there are many more things to do on holiday than watch television, so that may be the reason why it is like that. Also, the main problem was that the room was VERY hot. When we came in, there was no air conditioning, and even when we turned it on, it didn't seem very powerful, which was a shame.

Phil and Linda's breakfast, however, was a welcome start to the day. Everything was gorgeous, from the home made bread to the cheeses. Even though we didn't have a cooked breakfast, those who did said it was just as good as the continental.

Overall, we had a pleasent stay in the Gumtree.

Very good airco, beds and an excellent breakfast. Nice room and swimming pool.
Do not forget to visit the Nel Museum.
