Our family of 4 stayed in the Hoepoe cottage for 2 evenings. Both rooms were beautifully furnished and spacious. Lots of soft towels and plenty of toiletries. The beds were very comfotable and we slept like babies! Very quiet evenings and the owls came right up to the cottage. The complimentary port was great!

Aaahh- breakfast: if only, only I had not indulged, I would have been a few pounds lighter- WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL breakfast- 3 courses! Starting with cereal and jogurt and a fruit kebab, followed by cold meats, cheeses, figs etc and then the hot food... excellent presentation. I ate so much because it looked so great!! The service was excellent! Dinner: Excellent- again.... I swear- I think I picked up 10 pounds in the 2 days LOL and I don't even mind. The breakfast varied on the 2 mornings as to keep it interesting for the guests but is was all superlicious!

Great and VERY LARGE round swimming pool- which we loved! The lodge supply swimming towels and you can order drinks (and eats) while at the swimming pool. Ounooi- the dog, enjoyed swimming with us. The kids just loved her.

We all agreed- next time we will stay a week! Well priced and within easy reach of Calitzdorp and Oudtshoorn.

If you like peace and quiet, good service and delicious food at a great price- this is the palace to be! Thanks Kobus and Elmare- hope to see you again, soon!

Room Tip: Any room will be great

We stayed in the Ostrich Unit for three nights and had the most fantastic time. The unit had three bedrooms and bathrooms and was full of lovely colonial furniture, perfectly clean, lovely linen and towels, fridge, complimentary port and water and everything else you could ask for. The infinity style pool must have the best view in the world and the breakfasts were the biggest and best we have ever had - sat on a pleasant terrace with a magnificent view. Nothing is too much trouble for the hosts, Kobus and Elmare - they were so genuine and warm. The location was perfect, incredible views in all directions, peaceful and quiet, yet close enough to Oudtshoorn and the surrounding attractions to be easily accessible. We will definitely be revisiting! It was also lovely to see a "proper" ostrich farm, where the birds are bred and raised with respect - no commercial battery style operation here which appears to be common at other farms. No negatives at all - but one point worth being aware of - the Ostrich unit didn't have air con - think the other units did - it was hot when we were there but the unit still remained pretty cool inside and there were ceiling fans too.

Very homely and friendly owners and staff. Beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean cottages. At R400 per person p/n including a great breakfast it has to be the best value on Route 62 and so central for many day trips.
