Madi Madi is one of the most magical, special places that I have ever been to. The food is wonderful and rooms extremely comfy! You can’t do horse back, river or jeep safaris and the landscape is unbelievably stunning! One of the things that made the stay so enjoyable is the fact that they only take a small amount of people so when we went on our safaris it was just us! The wildlife is amazing with birds, antelope, girrafe, buffalo, tortoise, caracals, jackals, Cape mountain leopards and many, many more! Even up at the lodge there are springboks and impossibly cute mearkats. As well as safaris we also did star gazing. The stars were incredible and there were thousands of them!

All round from the views to the food, from the activities to the rooms Madi Madi was an exceptional experience that I will never forget.

Having visited Botlierskop the sister lodge, we wanted to experience something different... and that's what we got.. Friendly and effecient staff, excellent service, knowledgeable rangers, a great chef and very friendly Meerkatte. Everybody go out of their way to make your stay memorable! And so it was.

When booking our two night stay we were told that the river had receded a bit, but not that it had in fact dried up completely. The staff are top notch, professional, and very friendly. We enjoyed the beautiful room, the game drive, and the free roaming bless bokkie and meerkats were adorable. We did however feel very locked in with nothing much to do or see. The animals weren't coming close to the farm house, and because of the drought they were difficult to find. In hind sight we would have preferred to visit Botliers again instead where you can view game from your tent. Perhaps we are just spoiled and used to bonfires under the stars and viewing game more easily.

The bed, pillows and bedding is amazing, so you'll have a good sleep. We were just hoping to wake up to a special view.

We were greeted with a cheese and fruit platter on arrival in our room, with a bottle of bubbly for our anniversary. That was a very thoughtful touch.

Last comment, the malva pudding wasn't at all what we as South African's are used to. I'd definitely try another recipe ;) The rest of the food was fantastic, and we appreciated the wood for the fireplace in our room, which was needed as the nights get pretty cold in winter. Aircon in the room also helped.

Visited for two nights in late July and received a very warm welcome from Melinda. Lovely room, with log fireplace, friendly and helpful staff and a good chef, Jaco.
Staff seated us near a lovely log fire for breakfast and dinner.
Perfect to relax and stroll around with friendly animals in front of the lodge - springbok, blessbok and meerkat.
