Stayed at the Superior Room #23 right next to the Honeymoon Suite. The entrance to the room is from own patio which is great because it allows a lot of sunlight into the room. No complaints about the room whatsoever - comfy bed & pillows, huge bathroom with jacuzzi-type bathtub and shower, a very nice mini-bar (great white wine!) Another extremely pleasant moment is that it was never hot in the room (of course, we rarely stayed inside during the day, but still). We didn't even use the aircon, and it was summer with very hot temps (January)! The property is extremely well kept. Breakfast is wonderful, we always had it outside. Champagne always available (very much enjoyed by my husband ;)) and I loved watching the beautiful birds on the fountain right in front of the breakfast area. The property is right on the main road, but towards the exit from the town, so the cars could be heard but didn't bother us too much. All in all it was an extremely relaxing time. Do visit Jemima's. I read about it on TA and it's a place worth a million bucks! Their food and service are incredible. Be sure to book at least 24hrs in advance as they're extremely popular! Hlangana staff will gladly help you with that, as well as with anything else.

Lovely facility - beautiful gardens and pool area, very welcoming staff. Rooms are large each with own patio. Breakfast served in separate pavilion with outdoor and indoor seating. Only complaint is that the rooms and furniture are rather tired. Beds are hard with very thin pillows. Otherwise a great place to stay.

This is a very nice place located both fortunately and unfortunately very close to the town center but also just over the garden wall is a relatively busy road. The rooms are sort of 1960's country chintzy but adequate. No tub in our room, only a shower but there was a second very small bedroom with bunkbeds which undoubtedly would be great for a family with children. When asked if they had internet access on check in we were told no but on a whim turned on the laptop and voila there is a highspeed wifi connnection. You never know. I don't know what we paid for this accomodation because we made a whole tour package booking with private driver/guide but I would say it is probably reasonably priced. The people are very nice and it would be anice place for people with children.

This was a perfect choice in Oudtshoorn. The property is just out of town on the way to the Cango Caves; however, it is in walking distance to great restaurants. The room was basic but very clean. The grounds are manicured to perfection...absolutely beautiful. The staff was very friendly.

We managed to extend our stay before we arrived with no problems, we decided to stay the extra night because of the amount of things to do in and around Oudtshoorn. The room was a good size with abathroom with corner bath, shower and twin sinks and separate toilet.

Breakfast is served either in their restaurant or on the terrace where the abundant birds have their breakfast too. The highlight for me was the availability of local sparkling wine to mix yourself a bucks fizz at 8 in the morning - very civilised!

Our car was also washed on the first night that got most of our off-road dirt removed after a hairy drive down the Swartberg pass to get there.

There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance and the town centre itself is only 10 mins away (if the heat allows, it's a lot hotter inland than on the coast)

Oudtshoorn itself is a great town to visit, there are shops and a small museum and the ladies in Tourist Information will help you out anyway they can. My husband particularly enjoyed the mountain bike trip from Backpackers Paradise (about 2 mins away) down the pass. He was also offered shower facilities at Hlanagana Lodge after we had checked out.

What else to say - comfy beds, ducks that come a calling at 6pm at the pond, lovely tended gardens, a/c and fridge in the room, generally a nice feel around the place.

My husband and I stayed two nights here in December 2006 as part of our tour of Cape Town, the Winelands and Route 62. It was lovely. The garden and pool area was gorgeous, the rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean and the breakfasts were very good. The staff were amongst the most helpful and friendly we met on our trip. There were excellent restaurants within walking distance (Jemima's in particular). Highly recommended.

My wife, Suzie, and I have recently stayed with you at Hlangana for 6 days and write to compliment you on your lodge and the organization From England, studying the brochures and web sites, we had some difficulty in deciding where to stay in Oudtshoorn /George/ Kynysa/ Plettenburg and decided to stay with you for two nights and then stay at one of the other towns.

However, we visited the other towns on our way to Oudtshoorn and were unimpressed with them compared to your town. We, therefore, decided to stay with you for some extra days and visit George etc which was very easy. We think that Oudtshoorn is very underestimated by most people and travel guides as they talk about only the Ostrich Farms and the Caves - these are excellent but there is also the museum, the Ostrich Palaces, some very good shops and charming people but most of all the wonderful restaurants (we ate at 5 of them in 6 days!) .

Your lodge is in the very best position of all the accommodation and very, very well organised - our only comment is that it took 5 days for our postcards to be sent when we left them at reception) - of particular mention was your receptionist, Amey (?) and her colleague who couldn't have been more helpful and charming - also your breakfasts, the standard of cleaning, the lovely garden etc were very creditable.

Please use us as a reference - we hope to see you again before too long.
