As you drive in you are bowled over by the grounds and pool area which are fabulous the room was very spacious and charming, and the staff very friendly.
We went to diner with great expectations and were so disappointed, we chose salad for our first course but were offered standard shop dressing which is surprising considering olives are grown in the area. Then it got worse, our mains had over cooked vegetables like old school dinners and the sauce for the steak was congealed in the bowl.
The desert was ice cream on fruit salad and they had put a couple of left over slices of Swiss roll under it.
The wines as always were lovely.

Stayed here for one night on a tour of South Africa.

Good points

Loved our little cottage room with the quirky furniture.

The grounds are very nice and loved all of the little quirky signs, ornaments etc dotted around.

Bad points

Staff were quite strange with some of them not speaking at all (we got about a sentence from both the African Grey parrot at reception and the receptionist.....that was the most we got out of any of the staff)

Bar area was not staffed and at first we thought it may be self service. Waited 15 minutes for someone to come and serve us.

Food was not good either in the evening or at breakfast. Some of it was cold, a lot were stews etc so if you didn't like that, that was it and the dessert looked like it had been out for years! Breakfast was edible.

Both the room (especially the bathroom) and the eating area were absolutely freezing (even when we lit our fire). Ended up going to bed in my hoodie on top of my nightwear because it was that cold!

Whilst lovely rooms would not stay at this resort again.

Lovely gardens the room however smelt musty deep crack in the bathroom sink, very dark in room, dangerous plug to outside fridge hardly reached from kettle to plug point to the point of being dangerous, main dining room had no atmosphere far to bright food mediocre with cracked and chipped crockery cold coffee and tea this guest house in our opinion certainly should not have 4stars.

The room that we stayed in could not be faulted, the bathroom especially, with a jacuzzi bath was fantastic, however the food well that was something else. It was a very odd combination and whilst I think they try hard it could do with a bit of modernisation and bringing up to the 21st century. The grounds are well kept and again cannot be faulted, overall it just felt a bit bonkers........seeing is perhaps believing.

We stayed here for one night out of a 2 week honeymoon in South Africa. Unfortunately it was our only disappointment and really not worth the long drive to get there! There was a large group of older guests staying which meant the staff were preoccupied with them when we were there. Also we had booked a double room and despite the fact we arrived before the large group we were given a twin and told there was no double available. The food was only average and the place in general although quirky was also a bit tacky and tired looking. I wouldn't recommend.

We were met and shown to our cottage, large bedroom, separate sitting room (with fire) and bathroom to die for.

The staff could not do enough to help.

We ate here and the food was of a superior standard.

Very quant old buildings nicely converted but keeping the old charm.

lovely gardens and pool area.

Give this one a try.

My guests and i stayed here for 1night and were pleased with the service. I also booked dinner for us and it was the first time for them to try ostrich, which was really good. Setting is great and they have a great well kept garden.
