“Beautiful, so worth it”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2013

Another great place recommened to us by Tours du Cap. The setting of the lodge is just so well planned. Get to your tented accommodation in Golf carts. Walk around and enjoy the scenary. What a great place to go to to get back intouch with nature and realise that we do live in such a lovely part of the world. We were fortunate to be upgraded to a Waterfront room and it was awesome. The restaurant was really nice, good food. Staff very attentive and breakfast excellent. Safari drive with very knowledgable guide, Johan, very knowledgable and sharp eye. We saw a variety of antelopes, giraffes, and other animals, but no Rhino unfortunatley, but that is all part of the fun. We cannot hold the guide responsible because the animals are not always visible.... Go there is you want to Relax, eat well. and will DEFINATELY go back. Thank you to the staff and to Tours du Cap for organising the stay.

Room Tip: The way the lodge is designed, all the rooms are great.

Buffelsdrift is amazing! From the moment we arrived, to the minute we left, we felt that every single staff member really cared about us. Our welcome was warm and efficient, the tents are very well appointed and the outside showers are perfect! Our ranger was very informative on our drive and the elephant riding was better than any other I have done in SA.
The food is delicious and plentiful, with resonably priced drinks.
Nothing is too much trouble at the lodge. It is highly recommended.
Thank you for a wonderful two nights.

We only stayed for one night at "Buffeldrift Game Lodge" and we really enjoyed this destination. Because we came from another reserve, we only relaxed there, without any additional trips. The lodge offer a lot of activities (game drive, horse riding, elephant riding ...) but we didn't attend.

We have booked a "luxery room" for two: this mean a tent in the second row at the lake.
These tents are really luxery, with bathroom (basin, bathtub, toilet, bidet and shower), a very good queen size with electric blanket, an air condition with heating. Even due to winter time and temperature between 5°C and 15°C is was very comfortable. The only negative is that tents are clairaudient, you can hear other guest or the wilderness.
At the restaurant we have had free WLAN (not at the tent)

Most of the time we chilled on the terrace of the tent or the restaurant, viewing the animals around: hippo, warthog, various antilopes, birds, ... => this is a great spot.
Even from the tent in second row, you can view the whole landscape.

We also have had dinner at the restaurant near the fireplace. The main course with venison has been fantastic.

The breakfast buffet also has a large assortment.

For us this Lodge has been a great place. In my opinions it's perfect destinations for families due to activities and animals around.

I would recomend this beautiful private Game reserve to everyone as a MUST see and experience adventure. The tented Accomodation offers everything and more than you would expect. The Bush Safari was very educational and we saw an abundance of wild life. The best of all was the fine dining with the most spectacular view over the waterhole. Buffelsdrift deffinately got it right! Thank you to all.. Anton and Ruan (Nyaru)

This amazing little gem was where we stayed as a pre-engagement surprise. the staff are amazing and really made us feel as if we had suddenly become royalty. The accommodation, food, setting and staff all made this experience absolutely perfect! Do yourself a favour and head to Buffelsdrift, you won't be disappointed!

We absolutely loved our stay at Buffelsdrift and really didn't want to leave when our holiday was over. We will most definitely be back again.

We cannot fault anything at all - the staff are so nice and friendly and will really go the extra mile to assist in any way that they can. They are all very knowledgeable about the Lodge and the animals and more than happy to stop for a chat in the middle of their busy day. The guides were excellent - we had Henk and Johan on our two game drives and both were top class. Really informative and fun, the two hours flew by far too quickly.

Loved all of the extra little 'finishing' touches that really show you how much all of the staff care about the place and their guests. From the warm welcome with a hostess that ran through the entire trips schedule with us so that everyone knew what was happening from the start, to the little tablecloth that was brought out in the middle of the game drive when we stopped for drinks or coffee (with rusks nogal!). Even the gift shop is so reasonably priced we were shocked, after other game park experiences we were expecting prices to be extravagantly pushed up but nothing at all like that with Buffelsdrift. So you have no reason not to buy a momento from the beautifully crafted items.

The accommodation itself was gorgeous. The beds are ENORMOUS and sooo comfortable. From the bed you can relax and look out over the dam while you watch the sunset. The bathrooms are gorgeous, fully fitted and the outside shower is a must try! If you don't try it, you will regret it. There is nothing like standing under the stars while you have a hot hot shower on a cold clear winter night in the Karoo. You don't feel the cold at all, and the outdoor shower leads straight back into your tents bathroom - you don't have to go 'outside' at all. Really cool.

The food was all divine, we were on a package that included both the buffet breakfast and 3 course dinners - and trust me, we tried to sample everything. Delicious and very generous portions (none of this fancy schmancy miniature portion stuff).

And then the cherry on the top was meeting the Elephants. You cannot help but fall in love with them, and the hour feeding trip really isn't enough time. My heart sank when it was time to say goodbye to them, but I will most definitely go back again.

We had a noisy chinese tour group the first night, but luckily they had left by the second night and peace resumed.

Thanks Buffelsdrift!
Elana & Neil

Lots to do here including elephant encounters, horse riding and game drives. The tents are spacious and well-equipped plus they have nice decks where you can sit outside. Splurge on one of the tents on the edge of the lake - you get a much better view and might see hippos in the water. Good service, though dessert in the restaurant was disappointing!

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a 'waterfront tent'
