We spent a few days here last August towards the end of our holiday in South Africa. We had a fantastic time and in fact the stay was the highlight of our month long trip.
Firstly the accomodation. It is very spacious with every conceivable comfort. It is very nicely furnished and you just feel at home there straight away.
Next the farm. It is beautiful with lovely walks, dams to swim in, just so much outdoor space for our two children to explore. The animals on the farm are charming. The dogs, sheep even donkeys all captured our hearts. Most days are children did not want to leave the farm to go on a day out.
The surrounding area of Oudsthoorn is lovely with so much to do. We visited an animal theme park, ostrich farm and the Cango Caves. All of which were great days out.
The weather was superb. Even though it was Souty African winter the days were warm and sunny.
I've saved the best till last. The hosts Dick and Mary reaaly make your stay. They are the most kind, charming friendly people you could ever meet. Mary laid on a lovely meal for my little boy's birthday and both showed such kindness and patience in letting our children explore their farm. We really do consider them friends just from this brief stay.
Basically, Rolbaken is one of the best places I have ever stayed and we have travelled the world quite extensively. We will be back like a shot next time we are in this part of the world.
An unforgettable experience. The Ribchester Family
