Description: The restaurant overlooks the table-top-flat polo field, with magnificent wraparound views. The Polo Club wears many hats. It is, firstly, the 'local', where residents meet over coffee, grab a light lunch or meet for an after-work drink. At night, it's used by families with young children, or by empty-nesters with sophisticated tastes. Over weekends, the week day breakfast gives way to an interesting brunch menu. As if this isn't enough, the Polo Club team is also responsible for the weddings and other large events that are held on site. We love working with the Val de Vie Events team - they are superbly organised and bring fabulous energy to all they do! Mindful of all the different ways in which residents use the restaurant, we've done our best to put together a restaurant menu that satisfies these many requirements. We think we've managed to cover all bases from the 'quick-bite-at-lunchtime' to sophisticated dinner dishes to enjoy with a great bottle of wine. We offer the full range of Val de Vie wines, with its Rhône-inspired blends. These are complemented with a small selection of other producers' wines.

There is a concerted effort underway to improve on the offereings, service and pricing at this perfect venue.

Although there is a way to go, I look forward to the weekly SMS delivering the Wednesday evening specials......right now the pizza's have my vote and with consistent quality could save us the drive to Colcaccio in Franshoek and give them a run for the money.

Had a great family meal at this spot. They have great pizzas. The service is excellent, and the views are unrivaled. On Weds and Fridays (in season - so you should check) there are also live polo matches. The pizza restaurant is friendly and informal. When the weather is good, you can sit ooutside, and there is a great jungle gym, and plenty of space for the kids to run around in. Worth a visit!

Who are those people behind the custom-engraved, double-height glass portals - relaxing on the panoramic, raised viewing deck and sipping Moët above a championship Polo Field? Surely they know something that lesser mortals do not?

This is the land of ‘Val de Vie’: the exclusive Poio Club nestling amidst vines and oak in the beautiful valley between Paarl and Franschhoek in the Western Cape. With a backdrop of magnificent mountains, sparkling fountains and a price tag to match, Val de Vie has it all: from rolling green lawns; views, views, views; accommodation; conference and wedding facilities - to residential sites and an awesome Club House.

A wedding at the Polo Club, just before Christmas, set the tone for the festive season, and that tone will live long into the New Year. A setting as faultless as this, needed only the frosting of long-legged lovelies – each beside that indispensable accessory: a handsome, formally-clad partner - to set it off to perfection.

The weather in the Cape during December can usually be relied upon to play its part and the well-drilled staff at Val de Vie can certainly be counted upon to cater to every whim. Menus and food are served with panache and a smile – but it is the attention to detail, in the chandelier-rich reception hall/ballroom that finally calls time on wannabe venues and convinces the cognoscenti that this is the definitive A-list setting.

Whether you drop in for a game of Polo, an enlivening cocktail, or simply propose (so that you can marry in some style) – this is the dashing, new place to be.

Val de Vie has it all:
Proximity to Cape Town International (40mins)
Golf at nearby Pearl Valley and Boschenmeer.
Close to excellent schools such as Paarl Gymnasium and Bridge House.
On-site winery.
Sporting facilities: tennis, squash, gym, swimming pool, Polo, horse-riding,
fly fishing and so much more.

Go there. Recommended by Daphne Beames.
