My family and I visited this restaurant on Fri 6th September for lunch. Three adults.
It is set off the main road in Paarl. You drive through the entrance of the Pontac Manor Estate where you find you find beautiful trees, gardens, fountain and ample parking. A warm welcome at the door, and we were shown through to our table. There is a gentle, confident energy from the staff. I imagine their confidence comes from the knowledge that their Chef produces wonderful food, and their management is excellent.
We had choices of snails, calamari and garden salad to start. Then for mains Perfectly medium fillet, Rump with champagne sauce, and such tender, tasty spare ribs (which could have been eaten with your gums!!).The food was outstanding. The service was outstanding. Lovely ambiance in the restaurant not at all what I would have expected from a Cattle Baron, it is just a step up in class.
For special occasions - they have a Chef's table right in front of the open kitchen. It is a BIG beautiful table and the chef comes through to consult on the wine pairing and various choices of items on the menu.
I have not marked value as I did not pay, and we did not sit outside, but it looks like a cool place for summer, with a top grass terrace at the back with a deck for functions and sundowners.
