After a few guest houses in South Africa, i was afraid that this would be the same.... shared bathroom, small rooms, rooms without proper heating.... To my delight, the room given was very spacious, it had an attached bathroom and proper heating for the winter. It was very cozy and there was even a private 'garden' to sit and chill.
Breakfast was fantastic. Trudy was the chef and she was very accommodating to my request.
Trudy and Terry were superb host! From the time I got in, they were both warm and friendly. They were ever willing to tell us about the amazing places in Cape Town and how we could get there.
Truly fantastic place to stay and chill and I look forward to going back there for another visit :)

First heard of the place from an old pal. Wasn't quite sure what I was getting into as I have never been to Cape Town before.

Couldn't believe how amazing the place is. Superb host, thanks Teddy and Trudy for making me feel so at home. Warm and cozy, good breakfast spread, good travelling tips (Trudy sounded like a mom to me!!). Rooms are extremely comfortable (stayed in david, cyrese and katherine suites). And best of all, the hot water bottles every nite!!

Will be back!

Cheers

My husband and I just returned from our amazing trip to Cape Town and we absolutely love our stay at Olives! Olives is in a quiet suburb just 15 mins out of Cape Town and we love it that its away from the city's hustle and bustle but yet near enough to the city and airport.

Our superbly friendly and wonderful hosts Terry and Trudy puts us at ease the moment we step into the B&B ...from the lovely garden and pool to the very homely and cosy guesthouse. They are a very lovely couple who have so much to share with us on the country and its people, answering all our questions with tonnes of patience ..and we did have a lot of questions since its our first trip to SA.! They are always offering us help in every way, from recommending on the attractions we can do to arranging transport. Their warmth and sincerity in making our stay as comfortable and as enjoyable as possible is what makes this place truly special.

The rooms are each beautifully decorated in its own theme with matching pillows, throws even down to the curtains and towels in the bathroom! It is very clean and neat with equally wonderful bathrooms. The beds are super comfortable, so much so that
we always almost missed breakfast due to oversleeping! We loved the private courtyard that comes with the room as well as the endless wonderful pots of tea and cookies that made the cold in winter so warm! The little personal touch in the rooms are very thoughtful and very nice ...reading materials in the drawer beside the bed, the lighted candles in the bathroom in the evenings, the luxurious hand lotion to the hot waterbag
always in bed. Ah...pure bliss and comfort.

The breakfast were another amazing thing, a super delicious spread of variety that comes with hot as well as cold options. Needless to say, we were always stuffed up!

Olives is truly an amazing place to stay! A home away from home ...all comforts around with the best hosts you can ever have.

Thanks again Trudy & Terry for the wonderful memories...we will definitely come back again!

We stayed there for two weeks in January, during our holiday to South Africa. It was our third time. The guesthouse is lovely! Trudy, our host, is warm, friendly & knowledgeable about the area. The breakfasts are fantastic, with a wide and varied choice in both cold and hot options. The rooms are themed, comfortable, and spotless. It is easy to find, close to the airport, and convenient to get into Cape Town. The pool is a wonderful area to relax after a long day sightseeing. We will definitely stay there again!

We have just returned from an amazing holiday in the Western Cape, which was all the more pleasurable due to the hosts of this lovely guesthouse. We were made to feel really welcome, left to our own devices however, given plenty of recommendations for excursions in the area. The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable, each with private courtyard. The breakfast was lovely, a great selection for any appetite!

The location is fantastic for the Winelands and an easy journey into the City, also only 15mins from the airport, therefore a brilliant start or end point if you are travelling around the Western Cape. However there is so much to see in the area, if you have a car it is the perfect base for the duration!

Trudy gave fantastic recommendations of other guesthouses as we wanted to explore further down the coast, Terry gave a list of places to visit and although we didn't get through the list, everywhere recommended was a wonderful experience. Needless to say we will return and complete this list!

Thank you so much!

We had been in this very nice guesthouse for two times and we really enjoyed it so much. The rooms are comfortable, spacious and well equiped. The breakfast is very good and a pool is located in the beautiful garden. The owner are very friendly and always helpful. The location of the guesthouse ist perfect, because on the one hand it is quiet and on the other hand it is very close to Cape Town. We would warmly recommend this guesthouse and hope to come back soon!

I booked a suite for my cousin from out of town but could visit him whenever i could, which suited us just perfectly. From start to end our hosts Terry and Trudy were just amazing.A special thanks to Trudy for her assistance and prompt responses to all my requests.nothing seemed to be an effort, from wanting to book an extra day to changing the suite to making provisions for dietary requirements and also assisting with further accomodation after.

The room was perfect, simply but beautifully decorated, the private courtyard perfect, especially if you a smoker. All in all a wonderful experience and highly recommended.A home away from home, comfort all around.
