“We keep going back!!”
Reviewed 9 June 2011

We first stayed at the Wigwam Resort in 2006 for one night on our way to Tucson. We loved it so much that the next two times we returned to Arizona, we stayed there. The staff is not just friendly and accommodating, they treat you like you are the ONLY guest at the resort. In April, some of the staff actually remembered our names from our last visit the prior year! When we left, we felt like we were leaving friends behind.
The rooms are large, beautifully decorated, clean, with wonderfully comfy beds. The restaurants on the resort provide delicious choices with organic or locally grown produce, locally produced meats and wines.
The next time we go back to Arizona, we will definitely stay at the Wigwam!

We have used the Wigwam for several corporate programs, and each time the event has been highly successful, with our participants enjoying the various amenities of the resort. The golf, pools and spa are all terrific - the rooms are large and many are quite nice, and the new restaurants are really superb. I would recommend this property for any reason - group meetings, family vacations, girl's weekend, romantic weekends, it really fits the bill.

Transportation tip: The hotel is most easily reached either via rental car or car service; taxi's are expensive and the super shuttle takes a long time.

Rooms tip: The rooms surrounding the Oasis Pool are great, as are the rooms over near the tennis courts. All of the rooms are very large, though some of the casitas are slightly tired, but are just starting a renovation, so will be refreshed. The beds are all starwood heavenly beds, so you're assured a good nights sleep.

Restaurant tips: the new Litchfields restaurant is fantastic - try the sweet potato hummus; the Wigwam Bar is great, and Reds is really best for breakfast, brunch or lunch. The Sunday farmers market is also a fun and unique addition!

Within walking distance: if you don't have a car, there are still some nearby restaurants - a sushi place, mexican place, and an american bar-style place called Taps. They're all Ok. If you don't mind a walk, there's also a strip mall within 15 minutes if you're forgotten to bring anything and need to pick something up from a grocery / walgreens type stop.

If you need help with anything - ask a staff member - any staff member - they are all incredibly helpful and kind!

Room Tip: Go for rooms near the oasis pool or tennis courts!

This is a wonderful place! It had so many things going on but still operated flawlessly and with quiet elegance. There were families with children, serious golf events, weddings, farmer's mkts on Sundays, Nat'l Guard troops, friends groups, etc & everything & everyone fit together well. It's authentic southwest and yet state-of-the-art. Old & very modern at the same time. Entire staff (front desk, housekeeping, transportation, spa, wait staff in all restaurants) was exceptionally well trained & professional, in the background and then seem to appear just when you need them. Every building on the property was immaculately clean & the grounds are spectacular. Even though it's far from where I live, it's my new favorite go-to place (sorry, Vegas).

We stayed at the Wigwam for 2 nights over Memorial Day weekend. Overall the weekend was fun, pool was good (one of the brand new slides they just put in cannot be used per the manufacturer), and all of the people could not have been nicer. The parts of the hotel that have been remodeled are very nice, especially the lodge. We had a 2 room suite which was fine but really needs to be updated, even a flat screen TV would help.
We ate at Litchfields our first night. It was good and if I lived in that part of town I would probably go again but won't drive the distance from Scottsdale.

The problems I had with the place were these issues,
First, nobody really seemed to have an answer for me when I asked a question, any question and didn't seem too concerned about getting an answer for me either. There were all sorts of activities going on over the weekend and I had to search for a schedule of activities, wanted to confirm times for activities, little things but they add up.

Second, we went to Red Allen's at the golf course to have dinner before fire works on Sunday night. Long story short, the kitchen was totally unprepared for the crowd and we eventually left without eating and not paying for anything we had had up to that point. Ended up with room service back at the hotel, which was prompt and good.

So, if the rooms get remodeled and the service improves I may return some day. Otherwise for the amount we paid I will stick with some of the other area resorts.

Had a 4 day conference and was pleasantly surprised with the recent renervations to the property. The bungalow I had was very spaceous and extremely clean. The AC system was first class, nice, as the daytime temps were heating up.
Looking forward to the next conference at the Wigwam!

We stayed at the resort for an extended weekend, and it was great. My cousin got married there and everything was beautiful and well planned. We were traveling with our 2 year old daughter, and it was actually pretty child friendly. We took her golfing and the Bev-Cart lady had an apple for our daughter that she even cut up! Those are the things that my husband and I really appreciate! Beds were super nice, the Oasis Pool is a beautiful sight out your patio. The staff was more than nice, and made the experience that much better! We can't wait to go back and stay longer! :)

Room Tip: Oasis Pool is very quiet!
