I'm biased because I was married here three years ago but this is still my favorite resort. The rooms are nothing extremely fancy but are spacious. The grounds are gorgeous and whenever I stay I feel like I'm in an exotic place instead of 25 minutes outside of downtown phoenix.

My family stayed at The Wigwam 5/30-6/1. We were in town for the Diamondbacks game and originally planned to stay for one night. We had so much fun we extended our stay to two nights. The rooms are clean and very spacious.

The pool areas are awesome. Not too crowded and very clean. Our room was by the Oasis pool. There were never more than 6 people in it. This was the perfect place to spend an evening. During the day we played ping pong, bocce ball, and swam at the lodge pool. We had a cabana at the main pool and the service was excellent! We will definitely be returning soon.

My wife and I booked a trip to the site based on the images and information from the resort's website. This was a combination anniversary and birthday celebration.

When we arrived, we were cordially greeted by the bell staff and then proceeded to the reception area. Upon walking up to the desk, we were informed that we had been upgraded due to the notes I added regarding our reasons for the trip (anny and b-day) when making the reservation. This was a very nice and generous gesture by the staff and certainly appreciated.

We stayed in a king room over by the golf courses; specifically, the #1 tee box of the Gold course. The room was large and very clean. It is important to remember that this is a resort celebrated as a member of the Historical Hotels of America so it is NOT going to be art deco, post-modern or really anything that you might find in a major city by a large hotel name. The hotel room and resort in general appeared to be something that you might find Don Draper or one of his co-characters from Mad Men walking around in. The room that we stayed in had a large closet with plenty of hangars, in-room safe, nice sink area (separate from the shower room) and large walk-in shower with a rain-like shower head as well as a small kitchenette area with a small sitting area/bar (seats 2). The room was ground floor (we were in a single story building, some were two stories) and the patio was large enough for a lounge chair, sitting chair and a round table comfortably. The room had a large size (46-inch?) HDTV with cable tuning for entertainment.

We ate at both restaurants on site; Red's and Litchfield's while staying at the resort.

Red's is a bar & grill over by the pro shop for the golf course. The menu was new as of the week we stayed there and had some really nice lunch and dinner options for us. I am not 100% positive, but this bar has $3 beers all day/every day...so look for that! The staff at Red's were what you would hope for; friendly, easy to talk to and not seeming to rush you through the meal.

Litchfield's is designed to be more of the the resort's signature restaurant and has a great atmosphere. It is located over by the front desk in the middle of the resort making it convenient to all guests. The menu specializes in 'market to table' foods, so it contains items that are as local to the resort as possible. The relatively small kitchen is right in the middle of the dining room and we thought this was a nice feature to the experience. The kitchen staff were almost silent as they prepared the entrees and the room had all sorts of wonderful smells and scents. The service was wonderful and relaxed for the entire evening.

The resort has two main pools on site; Oasis and Tower. The Tower pool has a large pool slide/ride that is reminiscent of popular water parks. It is smaller but the youngsters seemed to be having a lot of fun. There are also several cabanas for rental and a 'kiddie' area all enclosed in one large area. Lastly, the Tower pool has a small bar and grill so lunch and refreshments is not far from your lounge chair! The Oasis pool is far more relaxed and seemed designed as more of an adults-only pool, although kids were certainly using it as well. The Oasis pool did not have food there but did have a water container for refreshment while swimming/sunning. Both pools have large jacuzzi's, but we didn't utilize them as it was over 105 during the day.

All in all, the resort provided a great place for us to have a nice, relaxing 4-night stay and provided easy access to the routes for driving to downtown Phoenix, Scottsdale, Glendale and other areas that have all sorts of activities for families and couples alike.

We have to admit that the mattress in our room was certainly less than perfectly comfortable. The pillows and bed coverings were amazing, but the mattress seemed aged, a little worn/lumpy and just not to our overall liking.

We did *not* play golf, tennis, rent bikes or use the spa at the resort so we can't comment on them. But, it certainly does show that there are a lot of things to do here and there are many options for couples and families while staying here.

Room Tip: We found the website confusing when trying to find rates and room types for our stay. Be sure to sp...

Stayed here, in room 251 by tower pool in wheel chair room. This room is large and comfortable, but there was an odour of urine near the adjoining room door which is by the kitchenette . Housekeeping tried to mask the odour with room scent daily but it must be in the carpet. It didn't make us move but it was annoying, the carpet that is wall to wall and really should be replaced with tile.

The tower pool was nice, and the kids that were there were entertained by pool staff and water slide. Food in pool area was average for pool food.

We ate breakfast at the bar the menu is limited and not well marked every person needed to be told by staff how the system of ordering worked. What I did notice is a large amount of management staff eating breakfast there and doing business. Since this a resort I would expect staff of any kind not to be talking business where guests are. Especially when wait staff are running there buns off in the 108 heat.

This is a good getaway with few issues, I'd still stay there again, if you asked me on the street I'd say the exact same things. Take the good with the bad. The resort is huge.

The bell staff are the nicest guys on the whole property, kudos to them.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for a pool room if you have kids.

Very nice resort on the west side, with 3 different pools. We arrived at 1630 and someone immediately met us at our car and led us to check in. For under $100 a night we were given a cabana with 2 queen beds, it was also pet friendly. Room was ultra clean, and the lodge pool had nonstop activities for children. Numerous restaurants on site and very close by. If you visit in summer, prices are extremely inexpensive due to lack of interest in visiting phoenix heat. We will be back!

For our family reunion/birthday celebration, we rented 3 casitas at the Wigwam and stayed 2 days. They accommodated our request for early check in so we could decorate a casita for the birthday girl (11:30 check in) so she would be surprised when she and her husband got to their room. It also gave us a chance to get the air conditioning units running to cool down our rooms since the day promised triple digit temps (and it delivered as promised!). Ah, air conditioning. Our rooms stayed very comfortable the entire 2 day stay. The beds are first rate. Great towels and excellent TV sets/stations. Lots of ice near by. Very quiet refrigerators in room and Starbuck's coffee for in room coffee service. Everything for our rooms was outstanding.

We ate at Red's twice and enjoyed the food both days. The premier restaurant, Litchfield's, was open one of our two nights there, and the food was excellent. All the staff, from check in clerks to cart drivers to waiters, performed their jobs well. Special accolades to the housekeepers, who not only did their jobs flawlessly, but seemed to know intuitively when guests were out of their rooms having lunch and came in to freshen things up.

The facilities are tastefully decorated and there is lots of room/rooms for small family groups to have private space with comfortable seating to chat, play games or to simply be comfortable. While there were certainly other people around, we never had the sense of being in a crowd or being crowded anywhere. It almost felt as if we were the most special guests wherever we were. That was especially nice!

Bravo Wigwam! Very well done!

Room Tip: We think the casitas are the only way to go here. We were near the pool area and never heard noise...

The Wigwam resort is a dream runaway. We had a great room by the Oasis Pool (romantic, very few children). We enjoyed the pool by day and the hot tub by night. Dinner at Litchfield's was delicious Saturday night and Friday night at the Wigwam Bar boasted a wonderful poolside duo and some tasty cocktails with just the right amount of service. No negatives to be found at this resort. My husband and I like to leave the troubles of the world behind once and awhile and this resort does not disappoint.

This was our second time, and we will go back again. The ambiance is everywhere and the service is remarkable. The food was good too. This has become one of our favorites.

Room Tip: Ask for a room by the Oasis Pool. Grounds are lush, well manicured and can be enjoyed from your pat...
