“Lions, Tigers, and Bears - oh my!”

Wildlife World Zoo and Aquarium
Reviewed 7 January 2013

This zoo is best to see on a cool day because there is a lot of walking which can take the whole day if you like, especially with small children who take small steps. In which case I would recommend a wagon or stroller because they may tire out before the whole zoo is seen. There is a dining room which is blessedly air conditioned and a refuge from the summer heat, and the requisite gift store. We have visited this zoo about 3 times now and each time more has been added so it is a new experience everytime, and again, good for kids who need to run off energy and can make all the noise they want without interrupting anyone. It's also a great alternative to the Phoenix Zoo on the east side of the valley which could be prohibited because of the long drive if one lives on the west side of the valley. This one has a more wild-and-woolly feel to to, with less paving, and is more open. My favorite exhibits are the giraffe one where you can buy handfuls of giraffe pellets (bring quarters for the machine) right up close (see pictures), and they generally stay around as long as people are feeding them from the observation deck. We also saw them out in the yard running around and playing with one another, and there was a dear baby giraffe to see. The other one I really like is the bird aviary which, during posted feeding times, you can enter and hold out fruit bits which the birds will fly to you for, and sit right on your hand to eat. Very cool. I would suggest calling ahead or checking the website to verify feeding times because there are a few hours in between so you'd want to plan your trip to include one of those times. There is also a petting zoo with baby deer, goats, the usual which is shaded (more food pellet machines there too). They have added an aquarium so now there is a whole new section with lots of things to see, and is cooler when it gets warm outside. This is a really good way to spend the day, especially with kids.

It's a little expensive, $93 for 3 of us to get in, you get to see their aquarium building and the entire zoo though. You can feed the birds, giraffes and pet some of the animals. There is a baby building to see the newborns, there was a white tiger in there while we were there. In the aquarium you can pet a few of the sea life too. It is a lot of walking. There is a sky lift $4 each to ride it, a train ride $4 to ride it and a log plume $6 to ride it.
Overall it was a good zoo. Fun for the kids and lots of different animals to see.

Got to feed some of the animals and they were up close but not too close so one could see them very well. The reptile exhibit was very good and the show demonstrating how the animals can be good for us was well received.

A lovely experience. The aquarium is as good as any you will find in the coastal cities. The bird attractions are AMAZING. I have never seen so many birds. The big cats are enclosed, but seem well cared for. My daughter came face to paw with a leopard sleeping in a tree right above the enclosure. She was in awe. This is a good value, especially if you go on a weekday when the crowds are less.

While visiting the grandparents during Christmas we decided what better way to spend the day then at a zoo. This place is open 365 days a year!!! Tons of animals and stuff to see. By far the best thing to do there is feed the giraffes. There is a log ride, train ride, boat ride, merry go round and a sky lift that let's you get a birds eye view of the park. If you are in the area I recommend you stop in if you have a day.
