“A bit of a backpacker feeling”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 January 2014

This is a bit of a tricky one to review as it felt like a mix between a lovely place and a make-shift lodge. So, instead of saying that it was amazing or terrible , I will let the reader decide, depending on what's important to them.

Here are the things we enjoyed:
1) The location is great. It's in a quiet suburban street, but still very central
2) The staff is friendly and helpful
3) The rooms and common areas are clean and well maintained
4) We didn't have much breakfast (our appetite was low with all the good dining around), but the breakfast did look inviting
5) The pool is nice
6) Our room had its own little balcony overlooking the swimming pool. The room finishes were modern and well put together.
7) The rooms have aircons (although for some reason our remote got taken away on the second night)
8) The swimming pool is warm and inviting

Here are the things we weren't so happy about:
1) The stairs to our room (they are on the outside of the house) look rickety and as if they'll fall apart.
2) The upstairs rooms are separated by pre-fabricated thin walls and one can hear the next door people talking. The rooms are small and close together so they don't give much feeling of privacy. We had to close all the curtains to change as we were visible even from the pool below. The 2 downstairs rooms are by the walkway that everyone uses to get to the pool and other rooms, so the curtains have to be kept closed the whole time, making the rooms dark.
3) The bed was very small. It's a double bed (as opposed to queen or king). In South Africa we may be spoilt with space but we are used to larger beds.

The price was very fair, even given the high season of our stay. I would perhaps stay there again, but more likely if I am alone as I didn't sleep too well sharing the small bed.

Room Tip: There was a room in the garden cottage - we didn't stay in it, but it looked more private. The u...

although we had an upgrade to the chief room , our family would have had a very pleasant stay at his convienient STELLENBOSCH and LANZERAC located guesthouse even in a standard room. Besides nice swimming pool , the breakfast was very , very good .

I stayed for a week to visit a conference. The room was large, clean, and well-appointed. The ensuite bathroom was generous, with shower and bath tub, and modern layout and decoration. Breakfast was excellent, service was courteous, and the staff quick and friendly with help.

The location is lovely, but a bot out of town. It's still walkable to the center with most restaurants, but it's a walk, not a stroll ;-).

We have stayed 3 nights. Our room was cozy and clean. Breakfast every day was different and delicious. Staff very welcoming and kind. Located in very quiet area, around 25 min walk to Stellenbosch center. It has secured parking. Would stay again and recommend it 100%.

Very beautiful, clean and quiet place and very friendly staff. I would recommend it to friends. The City center is a bit further away, so you will need a car to get to a restaurant. We enjoyed our stay

We were 6 persons and stayed for 3 nights : bedrooms ok, parking ok, breakfast ok. But the last day when we checked out, I forgot my medicinbag (with jewels in it). I called them and they said that they would look after it. The next morning I went back to catch my stuff and then all of a sudden there was nobody who could help me. The manager said that she checked personnaly every day the rooms of which people had left and she did not find my bag. So I was very disappointed because I knew I left my bag there; I will never ever stay there again, because they are not honest.

We spent the weekend in Stellenbosch to try wines and good food. We chose the 5 season for being both in the city but away from the restaurant/crowd mess (10 blocks away from the city center).Comfortable rooms with big bathrooms, private parking lot (free of charge) cumplimentary internet and EXCELLENT breakfast. Chef Rochélle prepared our omelets and croissant-sandwiches with loving care and attention to each guest requests.
Elegant and charming, this guest house is a home away from home. Simply perfect.
