“Excellent stay in a spectacular location”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

I stayed at the Asara wine estate during May 2014 for a conference. The estate is situated in a spectacular location, which is all the more beautiful this time of the year with all the autumn colours. Check-in was friendly and efficient. I was surprised by the huge room, and the quality of the furnishings. I loved the comfortable king size bed, and the shower felt almost as large. Naturally everything was sparkling clean and I could fault nothing in the room or with the service. Will definitely be returning here with my family.

My only complaints would be on the scale of the menu – I thought there would be more choices on offer for such a spectacular hotel. Also, some of the pricing seemed ridiculous – one of the items on the lunch menu is tempura prawns – at R105 I consider this to be expensive as there were only 3 prawns on the plate.

Our third visit to the excellent hotel.

Enjoyed three days in room 105 (again by request). Lovely large, deluxe, ground floor room with comfortable bed and excellent shower and facilities.
Ate in the main restaurant on 2 evenings and the bar on the third. All excellent.

As last year our only moan is that the management seem to continue to exclude the sports channels from the TV sets in the rooms. Quite why we don't know as some of the small B and B's that we have stayed in do provide this service - and so why not a 5* hotel?

In the midle of wineyrds beautifull Asara hotel, surrounded with grapes with amazing view to the mountains.Hotel extremle clean, stuff very helpfull and friendly. Rooms large with kingsize bed.We were enjoying breakfast on the sunny terrasse. Hotel has posssibility for guests to join the cooking lessons. We didnt decide for that, but we visited hotel cellar with a great choice of best African wines. We tried some and have been delghted.Hotel is very convenient for weddings. We stayed here one night in May and, in contrast to recent hotel experiences, this place was excellent in all areas. The porters that greeted us were genuinely engaged and friendly, the front desk staff were the same. The room itself was large and with breath-taking views of the mountains and vineyards. The food in the restaurant (Rapheals) was good quality and reasonably priced. The breakfast (included) was also very nice. And, the price was very reasonable for what was provided (ZAR1600). The location is also very good for wine tasting in fabulous Stellenbosch.

As you enter the gate to the estate, you realize that you are literally in heaven.
As we arrived late, we received an upgrade to one of the suites. Large rooms, very long balcony overlooking a lake that is part of the estate and the whole Table Mountain with an incredible view... open bathroom with bath tube in middle of room, ingenious idea.
Service impeccable, there is a pool, bar, luxurious restaurant and a gift shop / sweet shop.
Been there 3 days with a friend, had the best time, would definitely return.
