“LOCATION ! LOCATION ! LUXURY/COMFORT, GREAT HOSPITALITY.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 January 2014

LOCATION ! LOCATION ! LUXURY/COMFORT, GREAT HOSPITALITY, friendliness with heart and soul.
Right in the center of town. Still absolutely quiet. Secure parking.
The spacy rooms and bathrooms are furnished with great taste and attention to detail. Latest technology (electronics) all over the place.
Bathroom with bath, toilet, bidet and a “great” walk-in rain shower.
Happy sleeping guaranteed. Exceptionally FAST internet (WiFi).
Breakfast is a feast. All fresh ingredients. Eggs as ordered are prepared by Chef Johan, enjoy the ceremony supported by applied science, never goes wrong. Delicious !
So far for the “hardware”.
Gwen and Johan are making your stay at the guesthouse complete, with great hospitality. Right from arrival, and throughout. They do really care for their guests; make you feel welcome and at home, advise what to see and/or do, solving any problem that may arise; without any pushing. Gwen and Johan are absolutely professionals in managing their hospitality business, as should be, but their friendliness and concern for the wellness of the guests comes right from their heart and soul.
Already several years we enjoyed our stay with Gwen and Johan, tremendously. Looking forward to our next.
Recommended in every respect.

Delightful B&B in a great location, very helpful and attentive hosts who have obviously put a great deal of thought and effort into making everything perfect.Situated in a quiet street 2 mins walk from one of the main streets in Stellenbosch with its restaurants, Dutch colonial buildings giving a lovely relaxed feeling to the area.Very chatty hosts who were keen to make sure that we enjoyed our stay as much as possible, including booking a table for us in a great characterful local restaurant in an old Dutch colonial house after discussing what sort of food we liked. We would strongly recommend staying here.

It's all here in the previous reviews. Beautifully appointed rooms, good location in pretty Stellenbosch and super helpful and friendly hosts. Every detail is thought through, I couldn't find any milk on the tea tray in my room the first morning. Why? Because in the frig is a little jug of real milk! Mini bar to the standard of hotel, plus honesty bar downstairs. Just one word of caution, Gwen and Johan pride themselves on the personal service and making guests feel at home, with introductions to each other and chats over breakfast, as well as organising anything that you need help with. If you enjoy this, as I do, then absolutely the place for you. But if you are a grump who doesn't want to interact with the world until after after coffee #3 (or at all), possibly less your cup of tea.

Room Tip: I had number six which was lovely and super bathroom

I got married in Stellenbosch (from Jozi) and went down before hand to put all the final arrangements in place. We drove past Aan Dorpstraat and decided the look of the guesthouse was nice and stayed over. It was such a great stay that my husband arranged for us to stay there on our honeymoon night.
All I can say is WOW!. Everyone went out of there way to assist my husband in getting everything arranged and went the extra mile to put up lanterns and make the visit VERY special. This is not to mention how stunning the room was, all the little touches just made it.
A truly memorable experience and I highly recommend a visit to this truly amazing establishment where the onus is on service. Will definitely be back!

I had a great 4 day stay at Aan Dorp Guesthouse. A very nice personal touch, great breakfast every morning, friendly owners and staff. Not to mention how close it is to everything else in the area. The security was very impressive, the rooms modern and a very nice bathroom. I will definitely return when in Stellenbosch again.

I had a wonderful stay of 6 nights at Aan Dorpstraat Guest House in March 2013. Both before my arrival and during my stay the owners were very helpful regarding questions I had about my stay and activities related to it. They were very friendly, well organised and always making sure I had everything I needed. The room was beautiful and always kept clean and cool/fresh. The breakfast was fantastic as they would offer a choice of freshly baked bread or to make eggs, meat and vegetables. According to my research, the price per night is comparable with other similar guest houses in the same area. I can warmly recommend a stay at this guest house if you would like to stay in Stellenbosch. It is in walking distance to the village and in a safe and quite area.

We stayed two nights in Aan Dorpstraat during our 3 weeks holiday in South Africa and we enjoyed every minute of our stay (it was way too short, so we will have to come back). The hosts Gwen and Johan are very friendly and helpful and we felt as we were visiting good friends. They did everything to help us and make our stay perfect.
Already prior to the arrival to Stellenbosch, we received valuable help from Gwen and were happy to read her friendly e-mails when planning our trip. She organised the pleasant and affordable transfer from Cape Town to Stellenbosch and recommended us a terrific guide for our Peninsula Day Tour (Cape of good Hope) and also helped us to book a Winelands tour and took care of restarant reservations which all made our stay very comfortable and contributed to the unforgettable experiences we had in South Africa. The guesthouse is in a pretty house and located in a quite area a few minutes walk from the center of Stellenbosch with good restaurants very close. We had a big, cosy and friendly decorated room with a beautiful bathroom (with african roibos bath products) and a big terrace (shared with other guests). The breakfast was plentiful and tasty and left no wish open (freshly baked bread and cooked breakfast from Johan, fresh fruitsalad, cheese, juices etc.). We had a wonderful time in Stellenbosch and we hope we will be able to come back soon again. We especially appreciated the great friendliness and the genuine interest Gwen and Johan have in their guests and the interesting and amusing talks we had togehter with them and their other guests. It was so much fun. We met many friendly hosts in the guesthouses we stayed in during our trip but Gwen and Johan are so special, they are the best!

Room Tip: We had a big room on the first floor (under the roof) which we liked very much.
