Everything about this place was lovely. The decor is an elegant blend of traditional and contemporary. You can see the attention paid to small details. Flowers in the bathroom, beautiful big bouquets in the shared rooms. Breakfast was both tasty and carefully laid out in a pretty display. The staff was extremely attentive and helpful, from ensuring you know exactly where you are going with good maps and directions to starting a fire in the wonderful living room upon request.

All that you have read is TRUE! This place is LOVELY! The service, the food, the ambiance, the location, the large rooms, it’s all more than you will ever be able to imagine! If you’re looking for a beautiful place to stay in the wine country, stay here! This B&B is everything the Dutch are made of – wine crisp sheets, pristine rain showers, turn down service, and just pure serenity. The owner, Amminne, was the sweetest woman I have ever met, so nice and welcoming. She set up a driver to pick me up from the airport, greeted me with tea, organized a wine tour and recommended the most fabulous place to eat within walking distance. I didn’t need a car at all. The morning breakfast was divine and the service was above par. The mote and antique iron fence made this B&B feel like home.
I would highly recommend staying here and hope to return someday. Even the locals from Cape Town came here for a night’s get-a-way. I’m not sure I would bring children here – it’s more of a romantic, quiet retreat for adults. If I had to do my trip over again, I’d stay here for an entire week! This is the best bang for your buck for a nice quiet B&B near the wine country.

Room Tip: Every room is wonderful!

My friend and I spent two nights at Middedorp and were impressed by the elegant decor and hospitality of Annemien and her staff. The Manor is centrally located in Stellenbosch, but far enough from the university and 'downtown' area to maintain and more quiet, serene ambiance. Annemien was extremenly helpful organizing our daytrips and making suggestions for places to visit around town. We were lucky to have found such a lovely place to stay!

Members of my family, my husband and I and several of our friends have stayed over at Middedorp Manor over the past year when we visited the beautiful student town of Stellenbosch. This guesthouse is stylishly and elegantly decorated and the service from Annemien and her right hand man, Maxwell, is impeccable. Nothing is too much trouble, even our muddy bicycles were spirited away out of sight after an enjoyable mtb ride. The breakfast is hearty, extensive and fresh. Sitting in the sun on the back stoep with a cup of coffee and Annemien's exotic cat for company is sheer bliss. There is also a small flatlet let to self-catering guests that we think is excellent value for money and where we enjoy the extra privacy. We never look further when we stay over in this area.

As part of our tour of the wine lands we chose to stay at Middedorp and we were not disappointed. Annemien, the owner, is like a fairy godmother and you almost want to bring her home with you but then who would look after her stunning cat!! The guesthouse is a palette of neutral tones giving a cool and contemporary feel but the ambience is warm and homely. Excellent breakfast provided either in the stunning garden or dining room. What Annemien doesn't know about the area is not worth knowing and for that alone...your stay here will exceed your expectations. We shall return not only to beautiful South Africa but most certainly to Middedorp. Well done Annemien and we both look forward to seeing you again soon....

Room Tip: There are only four...all lovely!

Middedorp is a beautiful converted 100-year old house, with huge, beautifully decorated rooms- like you are staying in a style magazine. Really friendly welcome and service - nothing is too much trouble. It's 2 minutes walk into the centre of Stellenbosch to all the shops and restaurants, but the hotel felt very quiet and secluded. If you are planning a trip to Stellenbosch and want a lovely, luxurious place to stay - this is it, don't hesitate. We loved it.

What a fabulous b&b. This is the height of luxury, fantastic rooms, lovely gardens and pool area, fabulous breakfasts and excellent service. We recently stayed for two nights and it definitely could have been longer, we are three couples travelling together and we all loved Middedorp. Annemien is a wonderful host and her staff are very helpful. Middedorp is in a great position within walking distance of the centre of Stellenbosch but on a quiet road. Just a pity we couldn't have stayed longer.

Room Tip: Get a suite if you can, they are fabulous
