“Can't imagine a more perfect setting or menu”
Reviewed 30 July 2012

This was one of two really world-class meals arranged by our Stellenbosch wine country tour guide, Glen Christie at Vineyard Ventures. (I'm working on getting Glen's firm listed here on TripAdvisor so I can do her proper credit.)

Anyway, we had an outstanding meal, over a leisurely two hours or so, with excellent wines from the estate, terrific service, and incredible views. If you are anywhere in this neighborhood, we heartily recommend a stop.

BTW, like most of our great meals in South Africa in December-January 2011-2012, this one came in just a little over US$100 for outstanding food, paired wines, and tip for two people. Eat your heart out Napa/Sonoma! OK, this ain't the French Laundry, but you won't get these views there, and you won't get a $600 per-person tab here!

“Worth a large detour”
Reviewed 16 July 2012

In the last few weeks I have eaten at some respected restaurants in Italy and China, as well as in South Africa, and Jordan has in that period been clearly the best culinary experience. The menu was imaginative, the ingredients all nice and fresh, the presentation sophisticated. If they are serving it the day you are there I recommend the carpaccio of trout, the "12-hour braised springbok shoulder', and the roasted stuff pork fillet. I tasted three of their own wines, two 2011s and a 2008, all bargains. By the way. the place is not expensive for its level. The complaints of one or two TA reviewers are ill-judged. There was one jarring note, however; the manageress/hostess insisted in an obnoxious fashion that I hade made a reservation for twelve; I had estimated ten and brought a total of eight because of someone's illness. But the food soon made me forget this highly unpleasant person.

“Stunning Venue foods even better”
Reviewed 7 July 2012 via mobile

We took staff our for monthly awards, always looking for something special so that we can spoil them. This Resturant has it all. Service was fantastic the staff were always there yet never never hovering around the table not sure how they got is right but they do. The food was so tasty, we tried the mussels, arrived in a huge plate wrapped in paper very different way to get the food only comment from some of the ladies "portion was just a bit big for a starter". The others raved about the Springbok starters, mains very superb mixture from the table Duck "outstanding" fish "really tasty" and the Sirloin was "brilliant " puddings were decident go for the hot chocolate bomb! The wines were both Jordan and highly recommended. So compliments to all the staff and chef. I did not get the managers name but he was so helpful with recommendations as we went through with the meal and attention to detail was outstanding " Thanks for turning off the air conditioner and beefing up that fire"
All said and done do not forget the view across the valley towards Stellenbosch
