We stayed in this beautifully restored, fine, historic building for three nights. It is located within the historic part of Stellenbosch right opposite the church which means that all the key town sites are within easy walking distance together with the town centre restaurants for evening meals. Other plus points are that there is dedicated car parking for guests; very friendly and helpful staff; excellent breakfast in beautiful dining room, free wifi. We had the only downstairs room which was at the back of the property and meant that we were not affected by the chimes from the church clock. The room was spacious with a very pleasant private patio outside which was lovely to sit out in in the evening with the complimentary port and chocolate.

We did have a slight issue during our stay in that on returning to the room one evening there was no power other than the main central light. There is no staff on the premises at night so we had to use our mobile phone to contact a staff member who came out promptly to reset the tripped fuse. It then tripped again later, which meant no air conditioning overnight.

They had recommended Danie De Villiers’ Andante Tours to us and we booked a couple of day tours – one of the wine estates and the other the Overberg. They were both excellent tours. It’s a great way of doing the wine estates and seeing the scenery without having to drive and Danie is a great guide.

We stayed for one night to spend some time in the centre of Stellenbosch and found the guest house excellently located for walking around the centre of the town and getting to shops, restaurants and bars. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable.

We stayed at De Hoek for a night to celebrate our 25th Anniversary. I simply can't fault this place! Friendly, immaculately clean, luxurious, top class breakfast. They went the extra mile with absolutely everything and made our stay very enjoyable - I would recommend this place to anyone.....and I am fussy! Thanks to all the staff at De Hoek we loved staying there and although we went to a place that was twice the price during our stay in CT.....De Hoek far outshone it in every way. Well done!!!!!!
