Description: PANE E VINO's essence is that of an Italian osteria where traditional Italian home style cooking is accompanied with family wines, grappas and a jovial ambience in which patrons visiting again and again end up feeling like part of the family. The food is fresh, uncomplicated and tasty. The family wines grappas along with a selection of regional Italian wines are available for clients to purchase on leaving the premises. Wine and Grappa tastings are also offered.

A fabulous little Italian eatery - proper coffees, real Italian cuisine (the Spinach & Ricotta Gnocchi are to die for), fantastic wines and freshly prepared dishes. The location (although central) is a bit off the standard route in Stellenbosch - they are based in an area called Bosman's Crossing, a industrial looking like residential complex with some antique shops etc, not far from the Saturday markets). Considering the food quality, prices are reasonable but not at all cheap. Ideal for lunch, you can smoke outside with good seating along the cul-du-sac (little traffic) behind some pot plants for screening. The service is helpful and efficient and do yourself a favour a taste their great wines & Grappa!

Very nice wines, and the carpaccio had the most delicious balsamic dressing. Nice Italian element, ciabatta bread to start with.

The lovely focaccia bread came form the oven to the table. My Gnocci was made with real ricotta cheese and lovely spinach and served with truffle oil - delicious. I had grappa Ice cream for desert and that was totally amazing. Will go back soon.

Get past the industrial setting, and you will find this is Italian family cooking at its bestI The renowned Dalla Cia family own this delight, and eat there often! Noisy, happy, with fresh ingredients, wonderful staff, Dalla Cia wines. Not the place for a quick lunch, but why rush? Life is for living. Finish off with great coffee, and of course, Dalla Cia's own Grappas.
