We stayed one weekend, and had a lovely time. Our room was 43, with vineyard view. The view was amazing and the room was comfortable and very much to our liking. We received a nice house wine, rose, upon arrival, and also a wine tasting session. Unlike other bars, this guy was really knowledgeable and super charming, so we had a great time. We had dinner the first night, and the food was lovely and well priced. The second night we ate at Delaire, which the hotel booked for us, that was more than we expected and also a great experience. The DVH staff are very friendly and the atmosphere in the hotel is homely and quiet. We were recommended some walks, which we did, and the area around the hotel is just amazing. I could never tire from those views. We certainly will recommend this place to others. It is not snobby, but has what you need and more.

Room Tip: I would recommend room 43, second floor with vineyard view. Amazing view and with the doors open you...

This was our first of many stops. Some others were equally good, although it is difficult to make a direct comparison with as different venues we stayed at.
Here, we just wished to wind down after our 22 hour trip. Possibly get to taste some good wines, and get references for our upcoming planning. Devon V H provided this and so much more.
We could not have recieved a warmer welcom, a better rosé, or better service. The staff is absolutely outstanding.

This hotel has amazing views. Pool area is secluded, so very easy to drift off into an afternoon relaxing snooze. Our room was super with bathroom with folding shutter doors to look into bedroom. The bed was super comfy and had great pillows. The opening to the garden view of the valley was amazing. Garden which includes the famous vibrant purple Jacaranda tree. Also some great vineyard views from the pool. Breakfast buffet was well presented and with bountiful selection of fresh fruits and juices. The hot breakfast was the same. Staff super friendly. We missed the pizza selection in the outdoor oven, but from the menu they sounded amazing. Really a great place.

Room Tip: Reception is not in close vicinity to car park (about 75m up some stairs) so leave bags in car first...

No, not the grunge band - the place.

Visited here as part of a Riviera Travel tour. I found the welcome warm, the rooms VERY spacious, very clean and very comfortable. They were about twice the size of every other room we had on our tour.

The view of the vineyards of Devon Valley was simply mesmeric. I just stared at the sunset for about ten minutes. Amazing.

The wine is obviously bountiful and tasty and reasonably priced (although all the sparkly wine was a bit sweet and sickly?? Probably a bad decision on our part.)

The á la carte food was well-prepared and imaginative, I can't say I have ever eaten rare ostrich meat with gnocchi before. I would recommend it, it is like fillet steak without the cholestorol!

Breakfast is high quality and plentiful.

I would recommend this as a base to visit the winelands. It is ideal.

Room Tip: They're all nice!

The view, the room but most of all the food - first class.

Of course the wine selection was up there too but the quality, quantity and price of the food was the stand out highlight.

Our room was a bit of a trek across two long corridors but the patio and grassed area out of our french doors made up for it. Ask for a ground floor room as although the first floor allows a better panorama across the vineyards, the patio & access to outside space were better.

Really close to all the local attractions (wine tastings) & a great base for Stellenbosch, Franschoek and Paarl.

The pool was small but functional, clean with free pool towels & ample sun beds despite the hotel being busy.

Really enjoyed this hotel would definitely stay here again, so picturesque, just really lovely !

Room Tip: Ground floor

We stayed at this hotel as part of out tour and were lucky enough to have been given an upgrade so that we had two rooms plus a large bathroom with bath and shower; the bed was very comfortable and clean. The restaurant was excellent, I enjoyed a very tasty lamb shank where the meat was moist and fell off the bone. They also have lovely wines and I particularly liked their Pinotage. Outside they have a beautiful terrace overlooking the hills and vineyards with gardens to enjoy. Overall a lovely hotel which I would be happy to stay in again.
The town of Stellenbosch is not far with some lovely shops but for those considering buying, I suggest that if you cannot carry it,don't buy as we purchased a sculpture which the shop failed to deliver and on several enquires (including someone local going to the shop on our behalf) has been unable to provide any information to its whereabouts including a tracking number so I suspect It was never dispatched in the first place.
