We were devastated to hear about the recent fire which affected several parts of this historic property. We visited less than one month ago while celebrating our honeymoon and cannot say enough nice things about this property. The hotel grounds are gorgeous, with mountain and vineyard views everywhere you look. The room was incredibly spacious with a massive bathroom. Ours had a claw foot tub AND separate walk-in shower. In recognition of our honeymoon, we were surprised with chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of the hotel's celebrated pinotage upon arrival. Upon check-in, we were also given a voucher for a free wine tasting which we promptly took advantage of! We paired our tasting with a charcuterie platter - delicious! Probably our favorite part of our stay was the hotel's formal restaurant. We ate there every night. The quality and inventiveness of the food coupled with the romantic, historic ambience could not be beat. I am very hopeful that this property will be back in operation quickly. It is a beautiful, special place that has left us with memories of a lifetime - as I'm sure it has done for many others.

Room tip: Our room (101) was situated towards the back of the property and it was very quiet and private.

Lanzerac was an very elegant, very peaceful stay in the beautiful wine region outside Capetown. My daughters and wife loved the spa and I enjoyed the gym with magnificent views of the vineyards. Our rooms were surrounding the smaller lap pool and were luxurious and quiet. Food was excellent. Staff was very helpful on any needs. A 5 star experience. Unfortunately, we just found out there was a fire that shut down the hotel portion of the estate for a year.

Thank you for your review and 5 star rating! We are thrilled that your family holiday with us was enjoyed.
Your statement about the fire is correct - as a result of the damage to the main operational areas of the Hotel, and the infrastructure thereof, a decision has been made by the owners to close to the Hotel. During the closure, we will tackle the extensive rebuilding of Lanzerac’s footprint affected by the fire, and complete the remaining renovations to the rooms and suites, which commenced last year.
We hope to welcome you back next year with the glory of old Lanzerac!

Beautiful destination for those looking for a retreat steeped in luxury and grand history. The spa is an absolute must-visit!!! Also, their wines are AMAZING - you should definitely arrange to do a tasting during your visit.

Stayed for the weekend at Lanzerac again as we were doing a trail race in the area. All the rooms have now been refurbished and are to a high standard. So now the accomodation can be safely added to all the other top quality facillities the hotel has to offer. The long list includes the food in the restaurant that offers anything from breakfast ,light lunches and fine dining, a well stocked and very comfortable bar area, library with a nice log fire, first rate Spa and pool area and not to forget a great wine tasting building that offer first class wines. Service is great throughout the hotel from the moment you arrive. Well done to the management and all the staff. This place is a real gem and can't wait visit again soon.
