Yesterday we went for a drive in the winelands and ended up at Spier and were pleasantly surprised with how much it has changed and been updated.
First we started off at the Cheetah sanctuary, where for a meer R5 you have the opportunity to view the Cheetahs and chat to the guides. Then for an extra R220 you can have an encounter with the Cheetahs - awesome stuff!
Then we moved on to the Bird sanctuary, and there a mere R30 gains you access to loads of raptors in rehabilition and the opportunity to hold them and stroke them.
Then we moved on to the picnic shop and bought all the ingredients for a yummy picnic and sat outside underneath the trees relaxing.
What an awesome way to spend a Sunday.
On the downside it must be noted that the food at Spier is expensive (albeit tasty and fresh), as well as all the touristy type of stalls. I guess it's the perfect trap for an unsuspecting tourist, but us South Africans know that those prices are a huge rip off.
