We had lunch sitting outside with a glorious view over to Table Mountain. The food was delicious and the service very good. Highly recommended. We did not do a wine tasting this time but have done in the past and it was very informative.

My BF and I were fortunate enough to be gifted with a picnic for two at Delheim. We attended on Sunday 4 March 2012 for lunch. Our heavy basket was carried to the picnic site by a friendly waitron, who also brought beverages and a picnic blanket [inluded in the meal]. We made ourselves comfortable under a tree and unpacked the feast, which was generously portioned.

We started with the beef samoosas and the frittata, followed by smoked salmon, liver paté, blue cheese and mascarpone on a selection of breads and crackers. The thinly sliced biltong was nice and moist, and I also enjoyed the stuffed olives. We could not do very much justice to the pickled pumpkin which was agreeable enough, but a bit foreign to the taste buds. Of course we had to save space for the chicken salad and koeksisters for dessert.

We washed all this down with sparkling grape juice and sparkling water, while lazing about on the blanket, in the shade, enjoying each other's company. Life does not get much better than this!

The picnic hamper costs R260.00 for 2 people excluding additional beverages.

The only thing marring our bliss was the occasional whiff of what smelled strongly of horse manure, but we couldn't see any horses about. We did however see some chemical toilets in the distance and wondered whether this was the source of the smell. As the wind changed things got fresher from time to time.

Hardcore picnic lovers may want to bring a larger blanket and a few pillows as the provided blanket, although welcome, was a bit small. There are benches and tables about as well for those who prefer sitting at a table when eating.

The view from the picnic site was lovely, a small valley with forested hillsides and a little stream running through it.

Definitely worth a visit!

This is one of the small hideaway places where you can sit and relax, have a meal with all the great wines Delheim produce. We had the cheese platter and selected the best wine to go with it, well worth the drive up the Knorhoek road. A quiet and relaxing place. Next time i will certainly take my binoculars and bird book as there seems to be a huge ammount of birds in the garden.

Delheim is a great place to visit. Amazing views and wine! Easy way to get here is the Vine Hopper wine tour. Its a hop-on hop-off service on the wine route and visits 12 farms on 2 different routes. Cost is R170pp and you can be transported for the whole day!

Our first time at delheim - and what a wonderfull experience! Great ambience, excellent menu, good service! Everything to make a visit to Delheim a very memorable occasion. People who are dissapointed by this are obviously not used to anything special.
