Called for a tasting and ended up having a lovely cheese board to nibble at. We were also able to take home the glasses. The scenery was also amazing.

“Well known name but friendly and informative”
Reviewed 27 September 2011

I visited Simonsig twice during my time in Stellenbosch. It is a busy winery, but service at the tasting bar is great. No restriction on what we tasted. I especially loved the MCC. Thye have a whole range of wines here to suit all pockets and their value range is particularly high qaulity, especially the chenin blanc.
The tasting room itself has a wonderful glass chandelier hanging from the ceiling - you can sit at the tables, with their vases of proteas for as long as you like.
Our second visit was to buy some jewellery we had seen in the display cabinets. We were given a full glass of MCC while we made our choices. Nice touch.
Will return on my next visit to Stellenbosch and hopefully try out the restaurant

“Very nice wine and great view!”
Reviewed 11 January 2011

Simonsig is a popular tourist spot and as such a bit commercial now. It does however have some wonderful wine and has a nice restaurant with good food. It is definitely worth the visit for a bottle or two.

“Amazing food, great wines!”
Reviewed 6 September 2010

I was at Cuvee recently for dinner and this has got to be one of my favourites now! The service was good, we were treated so well from the start. We were welcomed with a glass each of the Kaapse Vonkel (very nice!). We were advised to share starter and main course dishes so we can taste several options. This was an excellent suggestion... I has the prawn and scallop starter, my friend had a salad. Mains was a fantastic fillet with mushrooms as well as a mushroom gnocchi pasta - wow! but the best for last was the desserts! I had the chocolate fondant and it was to die for! My friend had the malva pudding, this was so good! The wine we had with the dinner was excellent, we chose to go with the suggestions provided in the menu.

On a separate day, I also went wine tasting. Excellent wines, we stuck to the champagnes and mainly red wines, all were good and had a great afternoon, just tasting at our own pace, no rush. had a lovely time just sitting in the sun with some good wines! I will say that the tasting room staff can tell guests a bit more about the wines when they are served, but overall, it was a great experience.
