I wanted to take the family (ranging from 3yrs old to 80+ yrs old) for a lunch that everyone could enjoy plus keep the kids entertained. Despite the rain (the one day in our 5 week holiday) we had a fabulous time, the staff were great, extremely friendly and accommodating.
We sat indoors whilst the chef cooked his famous "braai" which was simply delicious. For R140 pp, we were given lovely fresh rolls with snoek pate and jams as starters, followed by lamb chops, boerewors (sausage) and chicken which was cooked to perfection, along with potatoe salad, green salad and the best pumpkin fritters!! Washed down with their Pinotage wine and coffee brewed on the coals, a brilliant day. Despite the rain, we didn't see the children as they still played outside on the stoep in a tent and then came and dried off in front of the indoor fire.
Lovely unpretentious, working farm, with awesome dogs, farm animals and superb staff. I didn't do the wine tour/tasting, but if I had the time I would definitely go back for that!
Such a refreshing contrast to other wine farms in Stellenbosch.....please don't change and become commercialised like some of the wine estates I've been to!!
