It is located very centrally. Did work at nearby hospital and was 5 minutes away. Service was slow and frontdesk was very incapable. Dont like the fact that the restaurant is not located in the same building as the room. Room is ok. Heater didn't work and I was very cold. Roomservice food really not up to standard

Have stayed here a couple of times, but this time I was shocked at how sad service levels have dropped here. Had a bit of issues at book- in, but it was resolved within half and hour. However dining room and room service staff need to be re- trained. You walk into the dining room and no-one explained the new procedure for ordering. Just shoved a piece of paper in your hand and says to tick. Waited 10 minutes for cooked breakfast, with no staff checking in or asking if you would like coffee. (There were only 2 other tables occupied so expected faster service). Received my bill before I had my meal...and so did the family next to my table. No greetings from staff, no friendliness. Overall, the place is clean and this hotel is one of the cheapest and very central. BUT, do bring your ear plugs as the noise from the N1 is heard from all rooms. Rooms are small but clean, though the carpets could do with some cleaning. This not the kind of hotel where you would want to hang around in the rooms...too small. However, fast food outlets are 5 minutes drive away and Tygervalley Mall about 8 minutes.

If you are going to be so stupid as to build a hotel overlooking a major highway (N1) that never stops, I guess you will all not think of putting in sound proof or double glazed windows. Given the fact that the main reason for staying overnight in a hotel is to sleep, this is a complete waste of money - I was with 9 colleagues; only 2 of us managed to get anything more than a couple of hours sleep. The hotel obviously knows there is a problem because each room has a CD/DVD with soothing music to sleep by - as if that would drown out traffic noises. At the least the hotel should have big warnings for anyone making a booking about the traffic, with advice to bring ear plugs or something else if one is anything other than a very heavy sleeper. (The smell of smoke in my room was only a minor irritation in comparison!)

I facilitated a 2-day workshop at Protea Hotel Tyger Valley. The service was excellent. The food outstanding with pastries, coffee and tea on arrival, 10h00 and 15h00 cakes and savoury snacks and a wonderful buffet lunch. Shuttle to and from the airport was arranged by Protea Hotel and were 100% on time.

My work's travel agents booked me into this hotel, and it was only then that I saw many reviews mentioning the high traffic noise levels. They weren't exaggerating! The room that I was given was so noisy that I couldn't keep the windows open but had to keep the aircon on all of the time to compensate. Traffic is busy until at least 10:30 p.m. and gets going again by at least 05:30 a.m. The quality of the room was adequate without being special.

If I have to look for a positive element about my stay it would have to be the friendliness of the front desk staff. They are the reason that my overall rating has moved up to Average from Poor.

If you are wanting a good night's sleep then this is not the hotel to be at. I have recommended that my work's travel agents no longer make use of it, and I will personally be sure never to stay here again.

Room Tip: If you absolutely have to stay here because of there being no other options whatsoever, ask for a ro...

No complaints! Clean, comfortable, decent A/C, 500mb of free wifi (awesome compared to most South African hotels), and decently priced. Nice view of Table Mountain and Lion's Head. Decent on-site bar and restaurant.

If you would like to stay at a place very you can rest this is the place. The hotel is in the vineyards and the atmosphere is simply to dream off. The hotel offers free transport frequently to the Tygervally Mall which is a bonus. The hotel has free Wi-Fi for you convenience. Don't mis out on the breakfast which was very special.

Room Tip: Room 119 is a big room with seating on a stoop.
