Spent a long weekend at the Park Hyatt in Goa. Whist the hotel is lovely and ideally situated by the beach, a short drive from the airport, the service is not as expected for a 5 star hotel.
The day before arrival I checked that we would be met at the airport for transfer to the hotel, as previously booked, only to be told that my booking had been canceled (by the hotel) and it was too late to book another room as they were fully booked. After numerous telephone calls and emails this was finally resolved.
The pool was huge with a slide. Unfortunately, they were creosoting the decking around the pool during the day which gave off an awful smell.
During our stay our daughter's favourite bear went missing from her bed in our room. Assuming that it must have been taken away with the laundry we asked for the manager to check. A week later and apparently it has not been found.

My wife and I checked into Park Hyatt, Goa on Sunday, May 23, 2010, we were allotted a room on the ground floor corner.
On Monday night we left the room for dinner and proceeded to the hotel’s in-house theatre for a late night movie and got back to our room just before mid-night. On Tuesday morning at about 10:30 am we discovered that our Nokia E63 mobile phone and our Olympus digital camera which we had used and left in the room on Monday night were missing. We immediately informed the hotel authorities about the theft; the security in-charge first ordered a thorough search of our room after a couple of hours the Asst. Manager came over and repeated the round of questioning. He again ordered a full search of our room and put our own luggage through the security scanner as though we were hiding our own property and claiming theft. After a better part of the day was over at 4 we were informed us that as per the room access data and their internal inquiry there was no unauthorized entry in our room and therefore the hotel was absolved of any further responsibility to investigate despite us imploring him to understand that the items had gone missing from the room and could not have sprouted legs to stroll out on their own.

The front desk manager, didn’t even have the courtesy to meet us in person; he spoke to us on the intercom unabashedly absolving himself & the hotel of any further investigation told us that we were free to go to the local police station which was 8 kilometers away to lodge a complaint. The fact that most tourists who are to leave Goa the next morning are unlikely go by themselves to the police station, much less follow-up on the matter on leaving Goa seemed to be the basis of the staff’s lackadaisical attitude. The matter was then happily forgotten by the hotel authorities, nobody came over to follow-up on the matter next morning and there appeared to be no formal record or even mention of the theft in the hotel’s records as the check-out staff had the temerity to ask us if our stay was pleasant while swiping our card to settle the hotel dues.

On reaching Mumbai we found that in addition to the mobile phone and the camera Rs. 6,000 cash was stolen from inside our bag and we duly informed the Manger over the telephone of the full extent of the theft immediately and once again our complaint fell to deaf ears.

As if the theft of valuables and cash worth Rs.30,000 right from the room of an apparently secure and reputed hotel such as Park Hyatt wasn’t shocking enough, what was even more disappointing was the frivolous attitude (and perhaps complicity) of the hotel authorities in such a grave matter. They have shown no concern, remorse or responsibility about valuables having been stolen from a room of their hotel, furthermore if they really have no clue about how the thief has bypassed the electronic access system of the room or by some other means, then are the personal effects or even the guests themselves staying at Park Hyatt really secure?

We sent written feed-back to the General Manager of the hotel who in his reply simply parroted the Manger’s (perhaps well rehearsed) lines.

Mentioning other inadequacies of abominable service & unimaginative buffet spreads; though formidable by themselves look pale in comparison to the theft & lack of security.

I stayed 3D/2N at Park Hyatt Goa, last week (19th-21st May '10). I am surprised why this hotel is getting too many poor reviews. Property is amazing. Location is great. 20 minutes drive from the airport but still away from the city. Room are very spacious and clean. Food is very good - excellent spread and good taste. Staff - very polite and efficient. Clean private beach, lush green lawns, probably the biggest swimming pool in a 5 star property and reasonably prompt service. What more one can ask for?

Negative: This is a preferred destination for hosting large conferences, exhibitions etc (what's known as MICE - Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions). So at any given point of time you can expect some large gathering or other (like my trip). Could get noisy and crowded. The rates are tad too expensive. Look for deals and grab them.

After our second trip to this hotel in 2009 we swore that we would never return. A group of our friends, however, decided that we should all go for a holiday and booked here. I was hoping that the terrible service and attitude of the staff and management was just a one off deal the last visit, so I had higher hopes this time around. The hotel kept confirming then canceling our reservation and confirming our request to have rooms together, them could not even bother to get our rooms ready in time for our arrival at 3 pm. We had to stay in other rooms until they finally got it figured out. The 'manager' could not have cared less about any of this, and then when he did offer a compensation package (minimal at best) it was not followed through on at all and we were charged for all items they said they would comp. We are now certain to say that we will never return to this hotel, which is a shame because the facilities are really lovely.

Laid out in a lush tropical garden this resort makes you believe Eden actually does exist. The rooms are huge, with an enormous bathroom and a very comfy bed with the softest linen I've ever felt. We booked ourselves into a Park Double connecting to a Park Twin, which provided us with as much space as a moderate flat.I loved this place. It was by far the best hotel I've ever stayed in. The best part was the breathtaking scene of the sea, the beach.its the best place to relax feel the perfect moment with someone the sevive of the hotel is excellent. very peace and calm surroundings one can visit sea shore to relax
