Lovely stay here. Swimming right off the front, and some reef there as well. The manager arranged a trip to blue lagoon for snorkeling, (15 min by boat) and the dropped me off right in front!
Quiet and lovely, although some of the rooms could use some attention.

This place is like stepping back in time to what Bali would have been like 20-30 years ago! It really is a hidden gem. It's not 5 star luxury but what it lacks in luxury it makes up for in spades with atmosphere, location, quirkiness and the fabulous staff who, nothing is a problem for. If you are after all the mod cons, then probably isn't the place for you but if you are after an authentic Balinese experience in a fabulous, serene location far away from the crowds in busier tourist areas, then you will love this place. Oh and the beach is perfect for swimming - the is no sand to lie on but the deck out over the beach negates the need....:-). Love this place and I will be back!

Wow! What a find! Nestled right up against the sea, the two front cottages have private access to the beach. Do bring protective shoes to wear into the water as (like most East Bali beaches) there are lots of sharp stones and coral pieces on the beach. Glorious views of the watery landscape, ferries and distant islands in a peaceful, rural, quiet ambiance. Food is simple but tasty, the decor, furniture and soft furnishings are tasteful, idiosyncratic and utterly charming. Spacious, relaxing, unique environment. You feel like you are the only person there in this little paradise! Enjoy ....

Room Tip: Front two cottages have private access to the sea.

really adore the uniqueness, arty, relaxing, quiet, atmosphere of this place. It has a luscious green garden, and 2 really cute beach front bungalows. The other bungalows are just as nice but positioned more in the back of the premisses.
Try the delicious food in their kitchen (many vegetarian options!), and the super healthy home made Jamu (turmeric) juice or some young coconut water, both refreshing and healthy.

When in bali, I would definitely recommend this place to travelers can appreciate little rustique gems....

Room Tip: my personal preference is the beachfront cabin on the left.... comes with 3 double beds, can sleep 6...

Lovely little estate with only 5 wooden houses. We've stayed at the biggest - 2 storey, handmade batik linen and curtains, funny heart-shaped bathtub:) The whole property is just lovely: shabby chic (if you are looking for luxe, choose another place), easy, quiet, no noise, no fuzz, no people around. And the sea was warm, perfectly blue and no waves in sight - plunge! Dreamy getaway.

Room Tip: The small houses that face the beach are lovely and perfect for couples - they have the sun decks an...

Truly a special place, owned and run by the family that owns Bananas Batik, so all the coverings are in soft, gentle pastel colors. The owner, Desa Maya, is a wonderful, warm person, the staff lovely and considerate, and the location is amazing, on one of the quiet, clean, beautiful coastlines of Bali - away from the zaniness of Kuta. If you wish, you get your own little 'bungalow', yard and deck over the water, with gorgeous views, a tiny beach from which to go snorkeling and paddling about in calm waters (there's a breakway about 300 metres offshore), a yoga deck, and plenty of lounge spaces to simply relax and soak in the calming rays of Bali. The food is *excellent* vegetarian - and innovative, without being pretentious. Do not expect air-con, mod-cons, high-speed traffic, "hey lady, you want XXX?" or anything other than perfect peace :).

I hesitate to write this review, as I'd hate to see it's character change by too many guests!!

Nothing posh, not glam, no spa, just peaceful and calm. Run by an Austrian expat lady who has been here for decades, Pondok Pisang is the perfect place to chillout, read, do yoga, swim and surprise, use the free, fast internet! I came here with a group who were using the yoga/dance barn and stayed on for many days catching up with myself. IT's cool by the sea and there's a tiny private beach . not postcard idyllic but great for a refreshing, safe dip. Ferries for the Gili Islands leave from nearby port Padang Bai so it's a good stopover for there too. I marked it down a bit for cleanliness not just because the rooms are not serviced daily... actually I like that and usually refuse daily cleaning... but because there are a few resident dogs around who do leave some traces on the lawns. But the bungalows are private and airy and the beds clean and comfortable. The dining area has books in German and English. I'm writing from my deck with the sound of waves and birds.. just about to go for another simple but fresh, generous lunch.
