My friend and I stayed at the Bali Palms resort in Candi Dasa as part of a promotional deal which required us to sit through a 90 minute time-share presentation.

I will firstly rate the area. Candi Dasa is a very beautiful part of Bali. It does not have a beach to speak of, however there is a beautiful beach a few klm away. (The resort is able to arrange transport, or a day trip which includes a BBQ,
Candi Dasa is a beautiful little gem of a place, if you do not want the manic pace of KUTA. Although our promotion included a day trip to Kuta...4 hours is enough. I guess it depends what sort of holiday you are looking for.
The township has some really lovely shops (with set prices), relatively cheap, and without the stress of haggling.
It has many good class restaurants (although we only tried 1) and warungs.
We chose to pay $129 each which included 2 meals a day in the resort for the 7 nights....Well that was a waste of money.......We were not informed that it is from a set menu (which did not have an Indonesian meal on it!!!) very disappointing :-( It would have been much cheaper to eat out at the local restaurants, which were only a short walk away.

The resort is a little tired, and our room was adequate. The pool was lovely, and the ground were well maintained.
The towels were laughable. I read a previous comment that said "they looked as though they were donated by charity" - Very True. The room was thoroughly cleaned daily by the housekeeping staff, who were very friendly and obliging.

A special mention to all of the staff - Including Wewin, Melanie, Yoyo,Jansen and Smiley who contributed to making our stay very enjoyable.

The only thing that left a sour taste was the time share presentation. We attended the presentation win an open mind, and were even slightly interested in what was being offered (If there was the remotest chance it was for real). after some consideration, my friend and I declined buying into it ...partly because of our financial situations. taht should have been the end of it.....but wait there is more!!!!
That evening we attended a tradition pig on a spit function at their sister resort the Bali Shangrila. We were enjoying the evening until we spotted the Sales Marketing Manager John Ward. He appeared to at first to be talking to some of the guests, but really here was there to see my friend and I.
He asked if he could join us at our table, and we consented. He then proceeded to continue trying the hard sell on us...during our leisure time and while he was obviously very intoxicated. This was very rude, unprofessional and totally unacceptable. we had fulfilled our obligation by attending the presentation earlier on that afternoon....It should not have included harassment whilst we were enjoying our leisure time.

On a positive note, without the last incident, it was a very enjoyable stay. I would readily travel to and stay at Candi Dasa again.

Dear Valued Guest,

many thanks for having stay at our resort. many thanks for leaving the review on this site as well, however we need to clarify on some points especially about sales field. kindly find our Sales Manager's response to your review as the following:

I am surprised and saddened to see what appears as a personal put-down of me by the above guests. I was simply doing the job I am paid to do in ascertaining why there was a level of skepticism about our membership program following a presentation. I have been involved with many hundreds of guests during my time here and have hundreds of members and have rarely experienced any negative comments. The assumptions of ‘intoxication’, ‘hard-sell’ (we pride ourselves on not doing this) and ‘pretence’ are misguided and I (and my members and colleagues) consider myself to be a consummate professional. My apologies if I interrupted a social occasion, however I was invited and no negative feelings were apparent when I left, nor during the following time of the stay here. I was simply doing the job I am paid to do in ascertaining why there was a level of skepticism about our membership program.

Yours most sincerely,
komang

We, (a party of four), perused the internet from our hotel in Kuta, for a one night stay in Candidasa , and, of course, all of the hotels put on their very best photos, so, in the end, we took pot luck, and decided on Bali Palms resort. We checked in, and 1st impressions were, hmmmm! The porter led us down some stairs and around a few bends, and there was the beautiful ocean in front of us!! We were impressed right from the start, as we had been on an arduous drive from Kuta. We had two adjoining rooms with great views of the ocean, and prepared to settle in, and, as it was only early afternoon, we all went exploring! There was very little to see as we walked down the main street, so we decided on going back to the hotel, and jump in the very nice pool. Later, we didn't find any decent restaraunts anywhere nearby, so we decided to eat at our hotel. We dined outdoors with the ocean as background, and we were very impressed by the service, the quality of food, and the lovely location, and the Bali sunset. SUPERB.

Room Tip: We went in low season, so, if like us,when the hotel was very quiet, make sure to ask for an ocean v...

My husband and i stayed here for 2 weeks over september and into october. The area is a quite part of Bali, with little in the way of clubs and late nightlife, but there were plenty if restaurants and a few places playing live music. We stayed in a 1 bed apartment and the room was great, with lots of room in both the bedroom and living area. The hotel has an onsite bar and restaurant both great value and good quality. The staff are lovely and friendly, and great fun in the bar. There is a VIP bar which unfortunately was under utilised when we were there but great fun, food and entertainment. The hotel tried to put entertainment on (in-conjunction with its sister hotel) most nights which were good. We had a romanic meal one night on the roof top (private from the hotel) with a bottle of wine and 3 courses including a great seafood platter for $14aud / £10 which was great! We also went diving from the hotel which again was great, well organised and fun. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone that wants to get away from it all, although taxis are available to take you to many attractions close by!

It was a holiday to remember. Adventure, relaxation, enjoyment and pleasure.

The staff are friendly and exceptionally efficient. Especially Yoyo, Smilie, Joshie, Tina and Wuyan.

Wonderful location with clean and modern facilities.

They offer a range of activities with reasonable prices.

Food and drinks are outstanding quality. Must try the fish and chips shop.

We stayed at Bali Palms Resort for a week, it is clean, laid back and every one of the staff are super friendly and always willing to be helpful.
Candi Dasa is quiet compared to other parts of Bali which for us is great. Being right next to the sea there is always a nice breeze to keep you from getting too hot (not that we swam in the surf as it isn't really a beach), but the pool is 20 metres away and large enough.
Our room was excellent although the bath towels were a little "tired". We had a problem with the aircon and it was fixed immediately, they replaced the whole unit!
We will come back again.
