We were a group of 12, staying at the Puri Bagus during October 2012. The grounds are beautiful, and the units excellent. Kris the manager was only too pleased to help, with any question or request. All the staff were cheerful, and helped whenever needed. would definetely stay at this top class resort again.

Room Tip: ALL GOOD ROOMS, beach views are good, also garden views

Candidasa is a cosy and quiet place on the Southeast coast of Bali. It's a perfect location for many excursions in the area. We stayed there for 6 days in this place, and found that just enough to visit the places of inteest..The hotel was impecable. The restaurant is very good. Price is not the cheapest; but you really get value for your mobney. It is situated close to the sea, at the end of a long strech of holiday accomodations.
Very recommendable...

This is probably our tenth stay here and this time we invited 2 other couples and one single. Once again this hotel did not disappoint us or our friends with one of them commenting that this is close to heaven. Everything about it is excellent and even though we have always avoided eating here this time we had two beautiful dinners with our friends. Thank you Krisna and the wonderful staff here at Puri Bagus. See you in 2013.

Yes the hotel is set in a great location, seaside (it's not soft sand) ocean views in beautiful gardens with seaside cabanas, beautiful gardens and fabulous pool. The villas are lovely, clean and very comfortable. I agree with others...it is very uncompetitive when it comes to services offered ie Spa, excursions, transport offered and it imposes a high tax and extra bed charge (especially for the small size of it!) Breakfast was pretty average for a hotel of this sort (large) and although we ate in a couple of nights too tired to go out, better options are available in town. They offer a 'shuttle' to town (very infrequent) but it's hardly a shuttle when there's no return trip available which wouldn't be hard since t's not 'on demand' but on a schedule. It did end up costing more than I expected for a 3 night stay with all the add-ons but it was nothing outrageous. Service is good, especially poolside, and we did enjoy our stay we just took our sightseeing/transport/spa/snorkelling business elsewhere.

Room Tip: Not too near reception as you'll hear the constant ringing of the phone. Also, rooms at the ocea...

We stayed at Puri Bagus Candidasa for one night in September while touring around Bali but wished that we could have stayed longer. It is a most beautiful hotel set in wonderful gardens. It is set on the coast and has the most fabulous view from the first floor restaurant. Check-in was very welcoming with a chilled flannel and a cold fruit drink.
The rooms are single storey bungalows in a traditional Balinese style and are absolutely beautiful. We stayed in Room 501 which was quiet, luxurious and elegantly furnished. It was very roomy with a large comfy bed. It had a TV (with BBC World News), tea/coffee making facilities, mini bar, a brolly (in case it rains) plenty of storage space, dressing gown and slippers, complimentary bottles of mineral water, plug-in mozzi repellent (not sure if they are a problem here but we were not bitten) and some mozzi cream, multi-voltage adaptor and, of course, air conditioning. As you can see, they have thought of everything. The bathroom was very large and modern with a big bath and walk-in open-to-the-sky shower. There were complimentary toiletries, a hairdryer and a line for drying rinsed out swimwear. There was a nice pool with towels provided. Breakfast is taken in the first floor dining room which had lovely views out to sea. It offered a good selection of hot and cold buffet. Dinner was also very good with a nice menu, reasonable prices, good service and very friendly staff.. Their cocktail menu was great too. I recommend the Bailey’s Comet, Nut Job and Coconut Dream; the latter comes served in a huge, decorated, green coconut.
On arrival I was given a voucher for a $5 head massage which I had and it was really lovely and included the neck and upper back too. It was just 15 minutes but felt longer. The therapist I had was called Artini. She was firm but very good.
This hotel was absolute heaven and 5* luxury. I highly recommend it and – no – I have not been paid for giving such a good report! It really is a lovely place to stay and I wish we were staying here for one week instead of one night. I stayed in 4 hotels during this trip to Bali and this was definitely the best one.

The hotel is really beautiful. When you arrive here everything seems perfect. The resort is romantic and fantastic. The garden full of trees, flowers... THe SPA is really relaxing as well (obviously is extra).
The breakfast was good.
The first 2 days you think is perfect but after a while you realize that
1. The hotel is charging you 21 % tax when normally it is 10 to 15% (so an extra for them).
2. The price of the food and drinks are twice the price of other restaurants outside. I understand that they have to put a margin but tax service+ higher price = you stupid tourist and we get super rich on your back.
3. The food is not good. The breakfast is ok but the lunch or dinner. You ask for a FRESH tuna and they serve you a snapper (frozen obviously). But they wouldn't tell you. Because you are a stupid rich tourist...
4. Obviously when you pay at the end of your stay the change dollars/rupies is obviously different to the change they will give you for changing money
5. If you want to waste our money for nothing because you are lazy book through the reception. They will tell you a driver is 50dollars a day. You can found at 35 outside. Same for everything. Always taking a big margin
6. It is quite difficult to get out of the hotel without paying a taxi because it is not so close from the city center. 3Dollars a way... Sometimes there is a free shuttle but only from the hotel to the city center not the contrary.
8. No need to book nothing inside the hotel. If you are not shy to negotiate, just get outside but it is a bit stressful at the end if you are not use to it.
7. Not the fault of the hotel. But there is nothing in Candidasa. I felt kept in a trap.
