Before I booked this hotel, I had planned to stay in Manila for 2 nights. Arrive late night, spend the whole day at the Mall of Asia the next day, then head out to my next destination the night after. So I looked at cheap hotels near the airport. It was going to be between this hotel and the Manila Airport Hotel. The Manila Airport Hotel had complaints about bed bugs and that alone plus having to pay for internet made me choose this hotel.

My flight was delayed a few hours so I e-mailed the hotel from the airport saying I'd be there at 1am. They told me in an original e-mail that there would be someone waiting for me at the exit of customs with a sign with my name. No one was there so I had to call the hotel to say I was there then they said to wait outside and they came 20-30 minutes later.
Advice: Call them while you are waiting in line at immigration. By the time you get out, they will be there. Going through immigration for foreigners in Manila can be hideous as there are always only 1-2 windows open.

The room itself is a good size, great for the price. My favorite part was the cable TV. There are about 100 channels with most of them being English channels. It kept me busy at night. The main problem I had with the room was the mattress was old. About 3-4 coils went through the mattress. One of the coils was right in the middle of the bed so that I had to choose a side of the bed to sleep on to avoid getting stabbed. Also, a warning to you anti-insects out there, there are many cockroaches. Especially in the restroom. When the light goes on, they scatter. A few of them were even on my bed. They are mostly babies but a few mid-size ones. I am not really scared of roaches but didn't like them hanging around my toothpaste and luggage. Judging by the area the hotel is in and the amount of homeless in the neighborhood, I wasn't too surprised.

The area of the hotel is not as bad as people make it out to be. The street is busy and can seem intimidating to some due to the amount of guys hanging out on the street. Going out in the daytime is your best bet. If you walk out of the hotel, turn left and walk about 7-10 minutes, you will find a 7-11 convenient store and McDonalds across from each other. If you walk out of the hotel, turn right and walk for 7-10 minutes, there is a supermarket on the left side.

Sure people say take the taxi to save money. We are only talking a few dollars here. Your best bet is to take the hotel's driving service. Taxis in Manila are notorious for not using the meter to raise the price, scamming customers, and sometimes even mugging their customers. Why hassle when you can have a safe, air-conditioned, cheap ride with the hotel shuttle service. They can take you to the Mall of Asia, Makati or any other place you request for a fixed price. The hotel has rules too on areas not to take customers for a safe experience. If you take the hotel's driver, request Ryan. He is very nice, chatty, efficient, fun to talk to and very helpful. He helped me out a lot.

The hotel Wi-fi is said to only be in the lobby, coffee shop and roof bar but I was able to connect in my room no problem. I think 2nd floor is close to the lobby and top floor is close to the roof bar. Try to request those floors' rooms if possible.

The front desk staff is nice but there is always only one person working so checking out or asking a question can take awhile if other people are there.

So overall, I would stay here again for convenience, internet, cable and driver. Hopefully the roaches are cleared out and I get a better bed the next time.

1. The Hotel is awesome and affordable.
2. Employees treats all guests fairly balikbayans, internationals or domestics.
3. Quite disappointed with the late pick up so make sure you ask the name of the receptionist who booked you for them to get there earlier.
4. Fast check -in soon as you arrive in the hotel no waiting like other hotels
5. From airport pick-up they carry your luggage up to your room. All the same from check out to the airport. need only to hire a porter from there which is common procedure.
6. Internet works only in certain areas of the hotel(lobby etc. which is for free). I brought mine so I didn't bother going down or up.
7. Clean washroom and shower. have hot and cold shower.
8. Very convenient if have children if have no time to go out to dine. Have special menus and delivery takes 10-15 minutes or less depends on the order.
9.They have professional masseurs if you need one after a long trip.
10. Very close to Mall of Asia also to Baclaran, Mandaluyong or Divisoria. if you need to shop or dine out can hail a taxi just a step away from their front door. 10-15 minutes away from domestic and international airport .

Nichols Airport Hotel is great for one night, when you wait for your going on flight. It is near of airport - about 10 minutes by taxi and never pay more than 80 pesos. The rooms are clean, have shower and toilett, TV and good working cllma - but nothing more. Really - choose this hotel only for some hours. It is also good for men who are looking afer prostitution, because it is surrounded by many bars with girls waiting for you - but the hotel it´self is serious. It is good deal for one night only because of the distance to airport and because of its price. I booked it by internet. It is really recommanded to book in advance because it is mostly fullbooked. Other hotels arround are much more expensive.

i stayed in this hotel last year, then tried kabayan hotel in pasay (scary location) but due to great reviews and on-line booking ...plus the name was catching ( i checked in and end up carrying my own 2 big luggages to my room after waiting for 20 min. in the lobby, i guess i don't have $$$ sign in my forehead...i was wearing a shirt, shorts and slippers.... and was sweating from manila weather after leaving new york winter weather) i see bellboys running if they see different race coming in the door compared to so-called kabayans... guess what!!!! i'm back to my old friend AIRPORT NICHOLS HOTEL--- airport service, rooftop bar, modest great price food and most of all the unparalled service! you get...i stayed last year august-then march 13 overnight connection flight then again march 30 for next day flight to new york... if your looking for a safer!!!!!!!! place/cheap budget hotel to rest your back after a 20 hour flight in my case...this service oriented hotel is good enough.... 1.2 miles from the airport...no traffic....close to mall of asia... i'm a regular ....everytime i go home to my lupang sinilangan!!!!! I feel like home, where -you arrive-people takes care of your bags before you reach the front door- 5 minutes check in- and most of all accommodation requests like check in the morning is almost always guaranteed (no waiting for 2:00pm check in time typical in every hotel) this one understands how tired you are if you carry big luggages... they see to it you get to your room as little as 10 minutes... then snooze...as any budget hotels in manila... ask the front desk for any tips...its safer.....travel...taxi service... ( they have their own private service but your free to hail taxis as they pass by in front of the hotel....cheaper and always ask for metered rate ) destinations... will recommend to friends, mike from queens, new york.

Nice hotel and close to the Airport. Also close to Mall of Asia, so if you are into a little shopping before leaving Manila or after getting there just a short taxi ride away. As others have mentioned arranged transportation from the hotel staff is more expensive than hailing a taxi from the street, about 3 times more expensive but for us going to the airport and being there at a certain time is a good way to go as hailing from the street can take sometime to get a taxi and lp gas taxis cannot handle more that two small bags for the trunk because of the gas tank.
The hotel was clean and comfortable, I would say no frills compared to other places but the price is good and the family suite was inexpensive 3200 pesos a night. One large bed and 2 singles.
I would recommend this place to other travelers but don't expect a park like experience outside the doors, it is in a sort of industrial area, but seemed safe enough. Taxis do travel by frequently.
