If you are looking for a nice place, close to great beaches and local gastronomy, stop looking. Cerro da Borrega fits perfectly. Rita, the owner, will receive you like a friend and will guide you trough the area with a small overview of the surroundings. She will present beaches, restaurants, activities or historical facts you may not be aware and be interested in exploring.

We liked... The house space and surrounding
It is beautifully built with an old technic of construction, very inspired in a mixed morocco/indian mood but steel very integrated in the alentejo landscape.
It has some tables and chairs outside you can use to read, have a glass of wine or simply have breakfast. At the time we went the weather was not that great so we eat the breakfast inside the house.

We liked... The room
The room was better than great, with a big window/door to the outdoor;
Everything was immaculate and comfortable;
We stayed for 2 nights and when we returned on the second day after some hours at the beach, everything looked like the first minute we arrived: cleaned, made bed, new towels, etc;

We liked... The breakfast
Very good. Rita is very focused on details and there where options for every type of guests;
It was Easter, and there where even "folares", a typical sweet bread, homemade by some specialist in the area, friends with Rita;
The only not so good thing - very small when everything was so great - was that the expresso was not included... You pay 1€ extra;

Other small great things we liked:
The way the house was decorated;
It had a speaker station for the iPhone, you could connect by Bluetooth and listen to your playlists;
The light inside was perfect, with a very romantic mood;
We brought our own wine, but you can buy a bottle of local wine on a small machine on the lobby;
The shower was great with a nice big window that added some adventure to the daily bath routine :)

The Price
It's not sheep... But it's has good quality service and excellent conditions.

The overall experience was great.
If you're interest in activities on the area, ask Rita for Carlos, a great character we also met, on a boat trip we took on the Mira river.

Rita is a special women. You need to know her to understand what I'm talking about :)
We steel smile every time we thing of her or those 2 days in Alentejo!

Room Tip: We stayed in a very nice room with a window/door to the garden. Good option.

Sorry, Rita, for my delayed review. We stayed with you early May last year. Your hospitality was amazing, as is your B&B. The grounds, the room, the breakfast couldn't have been more perfect for us in an overall location that is stunning. We wanted to share in the praise of what you have created.

Room Tip: the suite is highly recommended, it has an amazing bathroom, great king bed and door to access the o...

At Cerro da Borrega is well situated, close to Zambujeira do Mar and next to Odeceixe. Easy to access the road and not far from other well-known sites of interest. (Nature reserve of the South West Alentejo and Bicentine Coast for long walks next to the coast). The architecture of the house is very attractive and is built in a traditional construction method called "Taipa." House surroundings are spacious and one can take walks or simply sit outside the patios or the rooms which have a door to the outside. We felt very comfortable, welcomed, and the breakfast offered in the mornings was generous, delicious and made with local ingredients or home grown vegetables and fruits. All premises are extremely well kept, clean and rooms have superior amenities necessary. I gladly recommend Cerro da Borrega to anyone who would like to relax, ride a bike, go horseback riding nearby, and feel special. Owner and service personnel are very friendly! The place is beautiful!

We stayed at Rita's house for five nights in October , a booking prompted by all the great reviews on Trip advisor.
The house is beautifully decorated and the suite particularly lovely. If you are looking for a boutique style bed and breakfast this probably fits your requirements with an excellent breakfast served at your leisure, rooms kept meticulously clean. However, be aware there is limited sound proofing and the suite has a connecting door to the kitchen and despite efforts by the maid to be quiet breakfast starts at 8 am!

We were very disappointed that the exterior of the house was "closed" for winter so none of the hammocks and outdoor seating areas were available to us. Two wooden chairs outside our room which has no sun late afternoon seemed very limited and not what we expected. There was no where to go in the house other than your room once you returned to the property and even the suite did not have two comfortable chairs to sit on in the room .

A fridge in rooms would have been appreciated. And as other guests have suggested a swimming pool or hot tub would add to the property.The price per night indicates a little more than just a bed and breakfast.

the location is was quite good for beaches and the coast but not for eating out. Sao Teatonio was not a tourist town so we had to drive a long way to eat every evening. Rita was very helpful suggesting where we should eat particularly as in October restaurants seem to be closing at rapid rate for winter!

Room Tip: The suite is beautiful , great shower but suite suggests more than a bedroom which it is not. It is...

We had a very relaxing and comfortable stay with a delicious continental breakfast of local and homemade produce at this upmarket BandB in early September. The owner, Rita, is justifiably proud of her beautiful property. The property is not that easy to find but if you look for the 120 Km post there is a sign on the eastern side of the road, but it is set well back and you need to really look for it. You will need a car to fully appreciate the area although Rita does provide decent mountain bikes. She has a wealth of knowledge of the local area and is more than happy to recommend beaches and restaurants to enhance your visit.

We stayed for 4 days in this outstanding small boutique guesthouse and are absolutely delighted by the location, the quality of rooms and breakfast and the inspiring recommendations (for dinner and beaches) of Rita the Portuguese owner who speaks fluently French and English.
