If you are looking for a nice place, close to great beaches and local gastronomy, stop looking. Cerro da Borrega fits perfectly. Rita, the owner, will receive you like a friend and will guide you trough the area with a small overview of the surroundings. She will present beaches, restaurants, activities or historical facts you may not be aware and be interested in exploring.
We liked... The house space and surrounding
It is beautifully built with an old technic of construction, very inspired in a mixed morocco/indian mood but steel very integrated in the alentejo landscape.
It has some tables and chairs outside you can use to read, have a glass of wine or simply have breakfast. At the time we went the weather was not that great so we eat the breakfast inside the house.
We liked... The room
The room was better than great, with a big window/door to the outdoor;
Everything was immaculate and comfortable;
We stayed for 2 nights and when we returned on the second day after some hours at the beach, everything looked like the first minute we arrived: cleaned, made bed, new towels, etc;
We liked... The breakfast
Very good. Rita is very focused on details and there where options for every type of guests;
It was Easter, and there where even "folares", a typical sweet bread, homemade by some specialist in the area, friends with Rita;
The only not so good thing - very small when everything was so great - was that the expresso was not included... You pay 1€ extra;
Other small great things we liked:
The way the house was decorated;
It had a speaker station for the iPhone, you could connect by Bluetooth and listen to your playlists;
The light inside was perfect, with a very romantic mood;
We brought our own wine, but you can buy a bottle of local wine on a small machine on the lobby;
The shower was great with a nice big window that added some adventure to the daily bath routine :)
It's not sheep... But it's has good quality service and excellent conditions.
The overall experience was great.
If you're interest in activities on the area, ask Rita for Carlos, a great character we also met, on a boat trip we took on the Mira river.
Rita is a special women. You need to know her to understand what I'm talking about :)
We steel smile every time we thing of her or those 2 days in Alentejo!
