This was not our first choice of restaurant, but it was a Sunday evening and many more conspicuous places were shut. But it was a happy accident. We ordered the house speciality - Frango na Pucara - a traditional Portugese casserole of chicken. It was classically homely and utterly delicious. It came with vast sides of rice and fresh Portugese fries. The post-prandial brandies were poured with an unstinting hand. It is the kind of meal that lives in the memory when others, more elaborate, pretentious or expensive, are forgotten.
