“mayhem in the main dining area”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2009

We have just returned form the cornelia diamond and were very disappointed with the 5* dining. We struggled to get a table, the place is over run with kids who are left to run around as they please. As it was all inclusive, you would think a bottle of wine with your meal not too much to ask for, we got one glass if we were lucky, a top up on a good night but had it swiped by the waiter one night when we went to browse the buffet. it was more like 3* dining. the hotel itself is beautiful but please beware of the dining, even at the dome restaurant at the pool, we felt invisible. we've never experienced this in a five star before, it did spoil our holday as we look forward to our nice food and wine, not too much to ask is it? also the lights were put out in one of the bars at 11.40 when we were still having a drink . we ended up eating at the a la cartes but found it hard to reserve a table as it is an autimated booking service between 6pm and 8pm and had difficulty getting through, everyone else was trying to do the same. also beware of the kids running around when you are carrying hot food, they run right into you, and mothers with buggies at the buffet. we certainly would not go back or recommend this hotel for the dining experience

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 June 2009

I have just returned after a 10 day holiday with my wife and daughter at the Cornelia Diamond having enjoyed one of the most enjoyable holiday experiences for some years. We travelled with Firstchoice Holidays who were exceptional in their service from start to finish. After booking on the internet (receiving the best discount) we were routinely e mailed with dates due for full payment and shortly before travel we received a small Berlitz style guide to Turkey that contained all out travel tickets and sticky luggage labels. There were no additional charges for reserved seating or inflight meals and the Rep Service and transfers were excellent.

On arrival at the Hotel at about 10pm we were allocated a room for three that consisted of two large twin beds and a single sofa bed. having paid for a double we promptly returned to reception who rectified this without any problems and put us in a much better room. The quality of the room was excellent with a large double bed and double sofa bed with all the luxury of a large rainfall shower, LCD TV, mini bar stocked with beer and soft drinks (refilled daily) and a great view which is possible from any room, except it would appear with a golf view. These rooms seemed to have a restricted view over the golf course but in saying that unless time was spent in the room or on a balcony (which would be time wasted at this hotel) then it should not put anyone off, especially if it was felt an unaffordable upgrade meant the difference between a good and bad experience.
The general standard of cleanliness in the hotel was exceptional. Anything that was highly polished appeared highly polished and even when sitting at a table near the bar inside the Dome area the waitress would polish the glass tabletops after the last persons seated. We never had a problem with waiting and there were more than enough waiters / waitresses available who were attentive and always aware of when you may need another drink. I am a non smoker and I must say that although certain areas of the hotel and bars were available to smokers the place is so huge that it never caused me personally any problems and in any event there appeared to be more non smokers than smokers. ALl the drinks were branded and were full strength served in clean glasses and always with a small bowl of nuts and crisps which would be replenished with each round of drinks.

It is fair to say that the English are in the minority at the hotel and without sounding snobbish it is the type of premises where you do not get the football shirt wearing type crowd or other examples of holiday type behaviour that sometimes lets the English down. There are many families but not too many children that would spoil any holiday for those withoput looking for a relaxing time. Indeed there were many couples boh young and not so young there. It is generally populated by Russians & Germans and once some cultural differences that relate to queuing and politeness (excuse me, please and thank you) are appreciated and understood then its easier to relax. There was certainly no rowdiness or other trouble that could possibly give cause for a disappointing holiday.

The Turkish staff could not do enough for you and were excellent at all times. The standard buffet offered sso much interms of variation that would satisfy any palette, adult or child and offered many healthy options. It would naturally be busy at the start of service but even then there was so much space and seating available (including a separate area for very young children and families) that it wasn't a major problem.

One of the benefits that the Diamond offers over many other resorts is that you are not resticted to one visit to the a la carte per week. With 8 restaurants to chose from, providing you were reasonably quick on the phone (between 6pm - 8pm) you should be able to get what you want at what time you want. One tip however, before you call have a strategy and make sure you have alternatives in case the restaurant or time you want isn't available.
All of the restaurants were enjoyable with the exception of the Tai Pan which I felt did not offer authentic chinese cooking, although the food was OK. The Sapore for me offered the best quality of food and it did not require a supplement of 6 euros, which I was still happy to pay in the Forest Pub (latin & North American) and Fish & Love (Seafood). The Sumach offered authentic Turkish cuisine and was also very enjoyable. If setting a to do list I would recommend - The Sapore, Fish and Love, Forest Pub, Sumache then Tai pan. We did not eat in the Locante (Anatolian). There is no need to tip the waiters but we felt that the service was so good on occasions a 5 Euro tip was worth it. Tips were never solicited in any part of the Hotel.

The kids club was fantastic with the facilites that it offered children of all ages. A safe complex consited of an adventure area with dodgems, water slides, painting and crafts, nursery and so much more. My 11 year old spent much time in their with other people that she met. It was always staffed and the activities (if people wanted to take part) were endless. There was a set programe of activities but kids could just dip in and out of anything if they fancied it. This tyoe of facility is one of the best, if not the best ive seen and would give a parent so much more of a relaxing time, knowing that their kids were safe, supervised and kept busy. There were plenty of areas inside around the pools where the parents of young children could also sit on loungers.

The pools were endless and magnificent offering plenty of places to sit and relax or involve yourself in water polo, water aerobics etc. The pool around the outside eating and entertainment area offered the chance to listen to music over the PA all day (combination of relaxing stuff ranging from Lady Ga Ga to Elton John to George Michael to sould or & R&B. Lunch could either be enjoyed at the open buffet around the pool that again had waiter service for meals such as kebabs, pizza burgers and other hot turkish dishes. Walls ice cream was available in many different flavours at the pool side all day and up to about 12 midnight (as well as slush puppies). Any childs delight!!.Again there were sufficient bars everywhere and even a hut selling the turkish speciality of the hot flatbread containing cheese and vegetables. The beach was served well by bars and a jetty provided another great sunbathing area with a bar where the sea could be accessed at agreater depth.
Although there were some free watersports activities, those that were paid were not necessarily cheap with a parasailing trip for tqo priced at 60 Euros for 10 mins.
Another word on the Hotel shops that were located in the basement area. These must have been builkt to accomodate the more affluent where anything from a fur coat to the latest deigner jewellery and sunglasses could be bought for a small mortgage. My advice, dont even contemplate looking in. Sadly this is particulalry true of the general shop selling the stuff that you may need such as an extra bottle of sun tan lotion, newspaper etc. The first piece of advice given by my Rep was avoid like the plague. we soon saw why. A norrmal bottle of suntan lotion was 44 Euros!!!!! A bag of nuts 9 Euros and the Daily Mail 5 Euros!!!! You get the gist!!!

The Spa facilities were excellent providing a whole range of Sauna, Hammam, relaxation room tyoe stuff. However avaoid the actual Crassula Spa again as the basic price for a massage was 150 Euros up to the price of a Lear jet for a Turkish massage and other treatments. Do not let that put you off though as the general facilities are wonderful.
If golf is one of your intentions then I would recommend a trip to the Faldo course care of the complimentary golf buggy from the hotel that runs on demand. At a discounted fee of 32 Euros for a tee time between 6.30am and 7.20am if offered great value. A beer in the bar is 3 Euros for a pint of carlsberg. ALthough the course is a challenge and very enjoyable I found that unless playing off the competition tees there were not too many chances to use a driver and a 3 wood was all you need, that sometimes being too much. There are many other course however at about 60 Euros but as I have learned do not play in July or August, its just far too hot. Even June presents a challenge if out in the mid day sun.

The entertainment at the Hotel was put on nightly at the purpose built Amphitheatre that was a great building. One word of advice get there about 15 minutes early. Generally the standard of entertainment was very good and the Animation team worked hard to ensure that. The show started at 9.45pm each evening and finished about 10.30pm. Just enough. You then had the option of listening to a live band (who were great) and dancing or just retiring to one of the many bars somewhere quieter. There was a 24 hour bar for those who wanted to continue a little later.

A brief word about shoppimng in Belek. The Saturday market offers you an opportunity to buy loads opf counterfeit clothes at expensive prices. Payment can be made in Euros (which everyone seems to prefer) or Lire. An HSBC cashpoint issuing US Dollars Lire or Euros is available in the town centre. I'm told that a shopping trip to Antalya is better value as similar goods can be bought at a third of the price.

For anyone wanting access to wireless internet access, it was available from the poolside areas

All in all as you may guess I cant recommend this Hotel highly enough, especially travelling with children. We paid £2400 for 10 days which per head equated to £80 per day including flights etc. This just could not be beaten for quality and we will certainly be returning there next year.

The Cornelia Diamond is Fantastic. Although recenty opened and still learning the experience is brilliant. We were there as a large party of Golfers. We were served to the best drinks ( All the TOP Brands). Having stayed at other Hotels in Belek, namely the Sirene and the Papillion Zuegma where they serve you cheap and weak drinks. The Diamond are just the TOPS when it comes to standards. Food and entertainment was excellent we even managed to visit the Cornelia deluxe as part of the group. They are really the "New World"of Hotels. We are booking agin for next April.

A couple of years ago my husband and I stayed in the Cornelia Deluxe so on returning to Belek we decided to give the Cornelia Diamond a go. It is everything it says in the brochure and is truely a five star hotel. The only comment I would make is that due to the hotel only opening 12 months ago there are still a few issues with service both in the bars and in the restaurants (especially the Dome Bar and Restaurant), so you need to be a little patient. Saying that the staff couldn't be more friendly and eager to help, it seems that the management just need to fine tune some of their tasks. I wouldn't say don't go because you would be missing something good but just have a little patience and chill out your on holiday.

Just got back from a one week golfing holiday with Bilyana - who I would stongly recommend going with if wanting a 1st class service. Cornelia Delux was a good choice - The service was excellent - the waiters work their socks off and are of a very high standard - only two a la carte restaurants open in April so that was a shame as the Chinese looks great - entertainment was okay but another couple of weeks and there would have been more choice. The outside pool and bar areas are very good and exceptionally clean. The rooms were okay if you can get used to the Green - always clean and dressing/bathroom area was a good size. This hotel is very impressive to look at and although not everything was open - the weather was perfect for golf and the hotel was not too full - I would say that although more things would have been open it could possibly feel a bit busy in hight season so April / May is good for a more quite holiday.

We have just returned from a lovely 10 days in Cornelia Deluxe hotel. The style of hotel is very contemporary with no expense spaired on the decor. Beautiful fixitures and fittings - fabulous attention to detail and a very good customer service ethic.

The pool areas are clean and beautifully designed but be aware that still very cold in April. That said there is an indoor heated pool which is accessable to adults and children alike.

The restaurants offered a good menu and service was overall friendly and efficient.
The rooms are comfortable, clean and very well stocked with complementary toiletries and have modern plasma TV's with some cable and pay TV. We stayed in a family garden room which worked very well for us with 2 small children.

The only down side was related to the time of year we travelled. We had chosen the venue on the strength of it's 8 A La Carte restaurants and fabulous kids club. Only 3 of the A La Cartes were open and rotating so only one choice per night if, like us, you don't really like buffets. Very dissapointing! The kids club was open only on a very small scale, with all outdoor attractions closed. The outdoor kids complex looks amazing with trains , dodgems aqua park etc and would be amazing when the hotel is running to it's capicity. Please read the small print about the kids club as under 4's need to accompanied by an adult or you can pay for babysitting at 20 euro per hour.
Also, very little entertainment was on offer in the evenings - the auditorium looks fantastic for their shows etc but was not running. On 3 or 4 of the nights their was a live band playing in one of the bars - but it was a smoking bar so we didn't want to take the children in there.

The spa is fantastic with good all inclusive facilities and excellent treatment options. Expensive but you expect that in a hotel and were worth every penny!

My husband thoughouly enjoyed the golf and had no complaints on that score.

I am sure this hotel is amazing if you travel in season. Even with reduced facilities we had a great week but feel a bit conned that we were not informed about the services on offer for our time of travel.

Have just returned from a lovely holiday at the Cornelia Diamond, Belek. Fellow travellers from the airport summed the hotel up as my husband and I were getting off the coach on our our arrival saying 'Wow' and that 'wow factor continued thourghout our weeks holiday. We were so impressed. The check-in was very efficient and we were quickly shown to our room, and what a room! There really is no exaggeration, what you see in the brouchure is what you get.
You are spoilt for choice with the 8 restaurants, 3 are free, with a small service charge on the others. The buffett restaurant carried a wide variety of food for lunch and evening meals or you could always take lunch in the Dome pool bar in such a lovely setting and where we opted to eat most days.
I have never seen swimming pools like here, they seemed to go on and on, with sunbeds and shades for everyone, no need for anyone to creeping out at dawn to reserve their spot! The lady despensing the beachtowels each morning was lovely, always smiling and eager to please, as were all the staff.
We were extremely lucky with this hotel, it opened in May and had suffered some teething problems after some terrible storms in September, so gradually reducing the numbers of people staying to rectify the faults. This worked to our advantage as the hotel was probably only 33% full, but nothing was too much trouble for the staff, they were all so helpful. Everywhere you went was so clean, even to the facilities on the beach, you could not fault it.
We were also extremely lucky to meet up with some smashing people that helped make this holiday so enjoyable. Many nights were spent in the bar comparing our days and tasting the cocktails, aways served with nuts and crisps, by even more friendly staff. All in all this was a great holiday and one I was sorry to come home from.
