“Nice stay”
Reviewed 11 June 2012

A very nice hotel starting with the area, beach, rooms (very nice and spacious), kids club.

The food could be better, day by day day they serve quite the same, but that's usually the same in many hotels in Turkey. The choice could be wider. But there is a nice hall for children in the main restaurant. They have small tables, and children can serve themselves. Good service in the restaurants. Paris cafe, serving delights is very nice. You can have a drink with some desert at all times, they serve different chocolates and other delights which adds value to the hotel.

There were some inconveniences during the evening shows. When the weather was bad, they would have them inside, in the night club which is rather small for a big number of people, and it was impossible to find a free place to have a seat.

One more inconvenience I have experience was vibration, I felt when lying in bed. As far as I understand that was because of the sound system in the night club.

In general, a nice hotel but the price could be a bit lower.

Stayed at the Maxx Royal hotel from the 19th till the 26th of May 2012. As you can read in a lot of reviews on this hotel; they have great accomodations (rooms, pools, restaurants,...) and it is a beautiful hotel. We really loved our stay and we would for sure do it again for the following reasons:
* It is a great hotel for families (many activities and accomodations for children). The little details like having a roof over all children accomodations (so that are not exposed to the sun) is just great.
* The amount of activities you can do in this hotel (swimming in different pools or sea, acqua parc, beach volley, tennis on clay or hard court, football (soccer), jogging, fitness, golf,...)
* the food. The food is great although you get tired of the buffet of the main restaurant after a couple of days (especially the main courses). But the other restaurants (15€ additional per person) are really good (especially the Woxxie)! And then there are the little perks like the dessert and chocolat you can have, just great!!
* You have all sorts of stores in the hotel which make it convenient if you miss something (there is a sports store, toys store, clothing store, beach store, sunglasses store,...)
* The overall service is great.
* The rooms are really big (we had just a basic suite with no sea view).

Things you should look out for:
* There are many Russians (80%) in the hotel (which is not bad by definition) which makes the employees thinking that all guests are Russian! They continuously addressed us in Russian and it started to annoy us after a couple of days (when you have to tell them 10x a day that you don't speak Russian).
* You have to pay an additional 15€ per person for the specialized restaurants.
* You have Wifi connection everywhere (according to the hotel), but the connection outdoor (at pool) is poor and the speed overall is very poor (even inside the hotel/room).

Overall, we had a great experience and we will for sure come back to this hotel.

Room Tip: All rooms are great. What you should look out for is not having a room to close to the entertainment...

Maxx royal - I have already posted quite a few updates on the Forum as I organised the holiday myself with Monarch flights and then one week at the Maxx and 1 week at the Gloria Serenity as we simply couldn’t choose. So it was great to be able to experience both hotels , having previously stayed ta the Xanadu and the Barut Lara and know how good the hotels are here .
We had also arranged with the hotel to have an airport pick up , yes more expensive than a atxi/ transfer but we were through so quickly it was great to be on our way without having to wait for others.
Drove up to Amazing entrance – professional liveried staff bellboys etc , huge reception area all total luxury and you’re welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine and chocolate covered strawberries.Invited to sit on a comfy sofa whilst a receptionist comes to you and you complete all the necessary forms. Then a person from Guest services who speaks your language takes you to your room, giving you the guided tour as you go . We had been upgraded which was a pleasant surprise .
I am not going to go into minute detail as so many other reviewers have done so , will give my own marks out of 10 but am very happy to answer any specific questions anyone has.
Bedroom 9/10 – had everything
We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a Duplex 2 bedroom suite ...massive and really far too big for us . Lounge, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms . Huge - but very dark hence not NOT 10/10, quite hard to find somewhere to put on makeup , even the bathroom was very dark , had to put on all the lights to see. Bed was so comfortable with arrange of pillow.
Lots of power points . Big Mini bar with snacks too, loads of water, kettle cups glasses etc , whole counter devoted to this . Also loved walk in wardrobe which would light up & plenty of space , range of shoe polishers , clothes brush , sewing kit .Combination Safe .

Bathroom was also huge – great range of toiletries, massive shower & jacuzzi bath robes & slippers .In fact I used the conditioner when sunbathing after a shower , was lovely olive oil base. Aain th enly downside was it was not light enough for me , but d dhave a magnifying mirro which we love .

Food and Main restaurant 9/10
Simply huge, if you go do walk right through it to see all the stations - so much choice ! Main restaurant was really huge -but divided up into smaller areas so seemed more intimate .Waiters very friendly and superb service offered . So much choice , we walked around for a full 5 minutes before taking anything as there was always so much on offer , a carvery plus 2 cooking stations which offered another 5 or 6 options. The food was always hot.
Major plus was their actual bread oven in the restaurant which ensured there was constant warm freshly baked bread! Service excellent !
Choice of other foods very good icecream stall haagen daaz and the Melange patisserie was fabulous . And there was always the option of Magnums form the bars .
Also it's really nice to eat outside next to the coloured fountains in the evening , (it would also be a great idea to have an adults only area here as its certainly large enough . We are not at all anti children but let’s be honest, certain people do not look after their children ( one couple just let their baby wander where she liked , just plain dangerous )
Lunchtime – the a la carte restaurant Oceans restaurant is actually Sun Snaxxs ( it doesn’t actually say that though) really lovely eating outside there with the billowing white curtains .
Tried the circa too but didn’t like this as much .
Doxxie a la carte not very tasty, sushi good but rest of the food was distinctly average .

Entertainment 8/10 - some impressive shows usually at 21.45 , then disco party at Circa , Waiter service throughout , very efficient and always bring you loads of nuts & crisps .
Then back in to other bars & royal horse club ... Live bands plus DJ.
Really really impressive especially the samba show - in the garden. Again waiter service , sit on bean bags & loads of velour capes , loads of fun
Music - daytime 0/10 as it along with the Animation’s team Microphones ( for 10 people in the pool and other ball games) was gratingly loud. However, I complained 2 days on the trot and on the second day actually got dressed and went and fetched a Duty manager to accompany me to hear for himself how loud it was . It ht us like a wall of sound as soon as we walked out of the hotel . But once this issue was raised and discussed with the Animation Chief , it was totally turned down fo the rest of our stay and we could actually hear music on our Ipods. So then it became 8/10. They were very keen to "get it right".
I have to point out that there are 2 hotels very near by which play incessant loud music.

Evenings - some great entertainment , then after the show they went straight into Ibiza party mode , the night club was the same despite the fact that the average age there was over 40 . In te nightclub, my husband requested a song which he begrudgingly played ,then immediately played Boom Boom music. Please entertainment managers look at the ages of your guests And play something for everyone not just 20 something's ! It was very loud but when we went to bed we couldn’t hear anything.

Pool – large areas , pliant of sunbeds , loads of towels, beach nothing special but think they wasted the Pier area as it just had loads of those lovely pavilions which were completely empty ...what a waste ! Grounds very nice and did a tour of the Aquapark which is fantastic .

My personal Pluses - the Waiter service everywhere - all pools & beach too . Lovely friendly people too. 10/10
Drinks first class , all cocktails premium drinks and choice of wine including French inported wine . They would always leave your bottle by your table too,.
Major plus was their actual bread oven in the main restaurant which ensured there was constant warm freshly baked bread! Service excellent !
Choice of other foods on offer was excellent , even an ice-cream stall with haagen daaz and the Melange patisserie was fabulous . And there was always the option of Magnums from the bars .
Had the odd mix up about ordering in English but I speak German and we learnt the Turkish words for water etc so we usually got what we wanted .It was not a problem.

Also we Had a surprise as it was our anniversary whilst we were away ( and in fact the anniversary of the day we met) , I had emailed the hotel about our special date and when we returned to the room in the afternoon , there was red everywhere .... Robes , slippers, rose petals everywhere , balloons ( a heart shaped ) cake , champagne , candles & .... Red satin bedding ! Got to say I giggled when I walked in. (took some photos) .
In all we had a lovely holiday there especially as we met a smashing Belgian couple ( there were hardly any Brits there) , Last day we requested and got a slightly later checkout as we were off to the Serenity .
Got to say The main downside was the number of quite rude brusque guests of a certain nationality who had no manners and were just obnoxious , obviously outside the control of the hotel .
So would we return? I’m not sure - there were some fabulous features but there is some room for improvement and I think that it will be different again in a years time as the management did listen to our comments .
hope that helps you in your choice and Do feel free to ask any questions

We have been to 4 hotels in Belek (so far) and this review of the Maxx Royal will be broken down into 3 sections. Average, above average, below average based on the standards we have experienced in the 5* hotels in Belek.

Food - food quality and standard is the usual high standard we have experienced in Belek. No themed nights so became monotonous after the first week. We tried 3 of the a-la-carte restaurants - the best of these was the Lebanese which was fabulous, the fish restaurant which was very good and the Oriental which was not so good.

Service - the usual high standard experienced in this area

Above average:-
Decor throughout the hotel and grounds - luxurious, ambient, exceptionally high standard.

Cleaning - the cleaning standards in all the hotels we have visited in Belek is very high but in the Maxx this is exceeded. Our room was cleaned twice per day and every area of the hotel was spotless and gleaming.

Room - as all rooms are suites with decor to the highest standards - these really are exceptional

Below average:-
Entertainment - shockingly poor! If i could give the Hotel manager one piece of advice to majorly improve the hotel it is to sack the entertainment manager and his team!! We have never experienced entertainment so poor, anywhere - not just Belek.
During the day we rarely saw any member of the entertainment team and although they run the usual darts, archery, games ect the team was so disinterested in getting anyone to join in & generally uninterested when they did - they may has well not bothered.
But for us, the real problem was with the evening/nightly entertainment. At this point i think it only fair to point out that if are a family with small children who wanted little entertaining in the evenings (or early bedtimes) this may not be a problem. Also, if you go away in a group and are happy to make your own entertainment. For couples or those with teenagers then you may find the same problem as us. The hotel group, Salsantana, are really bad and unfortunately are on in the Royal Horse approx 5 nights out of 7. These go on till 12.45pm. If you could stick listening to their awful performance till after this time (we couldn't) then the club has DJ's playing great club music and is worth going to.
The main entertainment did have a few good (external) acts over the 2 weeks and these were excellent but on 6 out of the 14 nights it was the hotels own 'dance' troupe - Circus Maxximus - these were almost as poor as the resident band!!
We don't expect external entertainment every night - we didn't get that at any of the other hotels but at least have a resident band who can sing and an entertainment team who know how to entertain.

So. would we go back?
Only if we were going in a group or if they did indeed sack the entertainment manager and his team and start again!!

We are just back from a two weeks stay at Maxx Royal and wanted to share with you our experience.ue against

For those who want the short version, I would say that it was our best holidays ever (and we are travelling for almost 12 years all over the world, but mostly in the Carribean, where we stayd at Riu, Iberostar and Palladium Palace, Secrets and Sandals Adults only etc).

And now, the full version !

Before making a choice, I always consult Trip Advisor and alike and based on pictures (not the comments) posted by other travellers (thanks a lot for your contributions) I made my own opinion to take a decision on where to book.
And our impression at arrival was just what I expected; the entrance gives you an impression of luxury and you’re welcomed with a glass of champagne-like and strawberries. While our room was not ready at arrival (they are at 14.00), we were invited to take our lunch at the main restaurant, which was more than welcome after having a light lunch in the airplane and having travelled for more than 5 hours from Belgium.
Back at 14.00, while we had book a 80 m² suite, we were brought to the terrace suites building and upgraded to a wonderful family suite that made our stay just paradise, without asking (thanks a lot for that Maxx Royal, it really made our stay that different).

The room: just perfect: two balconies (one with the Jacuzzi), two bathrooms, two dressing room (a huge one in our daughter’s room, which was highly appreciated since we were there for two weeks and brought lots of clothes) with security code on the wardrobe doors (that enables you to protect luxury clothing), two mini-bars (with one filled in with specific children drinks once they noticed that room was the one of our daughter). Clean-up of your room always take place at the same hour in the morning, which we highly appreciated in the way that you can then access a clean room the rest of the day. At night, beds are prepared for the night and you’re given Godiva chocolates on the pillow (which for Belgian is highly appreciated).
About the noise at night, we did not experienced the problem because family terrace suites are not close to the entertainment (Circa bar) area. We slept with the windows open every night (as I’m not a big fan of air-conditioning). Indeed, if you choose for a sea view bedroom, please note that they are noisy until 12pm but, should I have chosen for such a bedroom, this would not have been a problem (it makes full part of the ambiance of that hotel).
The restaurants: we had dinner at the main buffet restaurant every night. This was not a problem because the buffet is the biggest we ever had during our holidays and it is very easy to get something different every day. For those who like (and we are part of it), sushi are served at the main buffet restaurant on Mondays. What disappointed us a bit is that there was no specific “theme” buffet some days, for instance a specific Turkish dinner (which happens in the Carribean). At lunch , we usually went to Circa bar for Fajitas, hamburgers and Turkish food (our daughter highly appreciated their hot dogs) but there is also the possibility to have à la carte at the Ocean and buffet at main restaurant (plus the aqua park one).
The beverages: regarding this, once more perfect ! On the beach and around the pool, there are some fridges to find water and colas but you usually do not have to go to it because people are walking all the daylong across the beach and the pool to serve you what you want. Coktails (and as Caribbean travellers, I think we have some experience) are excellent and have nothing to envy to Jamaica or Cancun. Finally, the range of drinks that are part of the all in is really extensive.
Pools/beach access: something also perfect. There are several pools and one that is heated (the small sea-water pool just behind the Ocean restaurant). There is enough place for everyone (no need to wake up early in the morning to make sure you get an umbrella, which is a priority when you travel with children). Each morning, the deckchairs around the pool are provided with a towel so that you don’t have to go and get one. During the day, the people make sure that lest-alone deckchairs are cleaned off the towel so that newcomers can easily identify which chairs are available (also something we found really good). You are not restricted to a towel/person and annoyed with towel cards. The beach is cleaned every morning and once more, plenty of space. At beach bar and Circa bar, you have Magnum and other ice cream delights, which made my daughter happy every day.
For the children: the Maxxiland was probably the most disappointing point of our stay (but not that a problem, our 6 years-old daughter had a perfect stay and can’t wait to go back) and here is why. AT first Maxxiland is very far from the main pool area (not a problem from a distance point of view since there is a very nice mini-train bringing children from the pool to the Maxxiland) but for children who are a bit “impressed” that’s too far from their parents. Secondly, the team is not that motivated. They have excellent infrastructure (playground area, space etc) but if you’re not a Russian speaking child it may be difficult for you to get interested and entertained. Finally, the mini disco ! This takes place at Maxxiland, which means that if you want to take picture of your child playing the games and dancing at the evening you’ve to make a choice: Maxxiland or the perfect, wonderful area of Circa bar ! Choice was easily made for us (no mini-disco) but we still do not understand that decision. Why not take the opportunity of the Circa to make the mini disco there ? It gives you the impression that everything is done to put the children as far as they can from the adults (and I therefore I fully disagree with those saying that adults are disturbed by children playing everywhere !). Also a negative comment: pay attention, the Horse Club is NOT accessible to children (which we did not understood as well). What’s the problem ? if they are with their parents taking care of them ?
The animation team: There I would like to comment on the negative feedbacks I read recently. You’re not in a club at Maxx Royal ! If you like the animation team harassing you to play their games or sport, please choose for somewhere else ! They were just as we expected, informing you, pleasant and competent but not that annoying.
Note that we had the opportunity to attend two specific nights; the RIO project by U Jean and the Ibiza party with Amnesia resident DJ. And believe me, we had excellent time these nights !!! Fireworks, lot of fun, laser games etc. Please note that I’m 38 years old and a lovers of clubbing so Maxx was definitely a place for us ! Other shows were ok, except the Rio Carnival show that is also excellent ! And a small remark for the ladies that have usually cold at night, they provide you with Maxx Royal labelled polar blankets.
About the noise, please do not also believe those saying that you have loud music everywhere during all day ! I don’t know where they stayed but not at Maxx ! It’s rather Adam&Eve that have that kind of atmosphere not the Maxx.
Oh, last but not least, don’t miss the Maxx Sunset at Circa bar every day at 18. DJ Sax and other Maxx royal dj’s play there every day and you are served with appetizers ! Excellent atmosphere once more !
A last but very important advise: do not buy at the small "superette" in the hotel. We bought there Pet Shops for our daughter and paid € 30 while you're asked € 12 in Belek and € 9 at the airport !!! it's just racket but the hotel is not responsible there.
And could continue on positive comments but I have to conclude and here is my conclusion: while, as a rule, we never visit two times the same hotel, we will make an exception for Maxx Royal !

Room Tip: Terrace suite, landview and villas are quiet Sea view a bit noisy until 12 pm

The hotel is overall the best we have visited in Belek so far but also the most expensive. In light of this there are several points that really can be improved. At first the pier is not available free of charge. The hotel is very child friendly but to extreme. No-one dears to act when children are running a round up and over chairs in several restaurant-areas. Also it is allowed even with diner for man to wear shorts and slippers and the restaurants, even in the a-la-carte. The music in the "chilling" area in the afternoon is at disco-volume. Not really chilling. Would expect more lounge-music at this time a day. A point out of reach for the management is the very loud music from the neighbours adam & eve. Really disturbing. Overall the best but next time I think it will be Calista again.
