“Great Hotel!!!”
Reviewed 4 July 2012

We have just returned this week after staying at the Cornelia Diamond twice and the Rixos Premium previously, the hotel was great, we were booked in a roof room with jacuzzi bath on the balcony which overlooked the next door hotel Adam and Eve, while sat in the jacuzzi with your effes beer we could see the sea and plenty of nude people at the other hotel which was amusing. There are various pool areas, including a main pool which had music playing over a sound system and pool games throughout the day, we usually sat by the relaxing pool round the side of the hotel which was quiet with amazing big comfy day beds to lie on. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and we found them bringing us drinks and ice creams even before we had asked for them (now thats service). There english is limited but after speaking to a few of them, they are all desperate to learn and they also taught us a few phrases too, the food was of a very high standard and there was plenty of choice, we ate in the bistro 21 near the gym most lunchtimes as it was air conditioned , very quiet and a great choice of food, served by waiters who were very attentive, you could also eat in the fish restaurant close to the beach and the waterpark if you wanted variety to the buffet. There was unlimited magnum ice creams at the bar and a haagen daaz concession in the hotel ( all free ). The buffet restaurant had good variety and if you ate in one of the side areas it was quiet and relaxing which you don't generally get in buffet, you could also eat outside and there was an adult only area. We ate in 3 of the a la cartes which charge 15 euros for adults and half for children over 6, under 6 were free, our favourite was the steak house out at the golf course which you got to on a golf buggy, the setting was lovely and the food was out of this world. We thought the a la carter were disappointing after staying at the Rixos where they are free and theres much more choice, there booking system was very easy though, you just went to a desk on floor -2 and booked there , no silly phone systems etc which we have had before. The hotel is mainly Russian guests which didn't bother us, we found the staff were very excited when they asked where we were from as the consider us very polite and friendly and we found it worked to our favour. The entertainment on a night was good, not a patch on the Cornelia Diamond I'm afraid and the entertainment guys were more interested in chatting up the female single guests!!! I have to agree with a previous review where they said it was very noisy at night, the music was very loud when you were in your room and it was impossible to get to sleep, we were at the far side of the hotel as well, it did get turned off at midnight though so wasn't too much of a problem. We couldn't understand why they didn't have the loud dance music on in the royal horse nightclub as this was empty most nights and keep the outside more sedate, just so theres a choice for everyone.. the hotel has various events on through the summer which you can find on there website, we were there for killer queen which was amazing, big firework display and stage set up, they'd really made the effort and it was a fantastic night... The waterpark was great with loads of slides, waiter service for the drinks and plenty of lifeguards. Overall I would love to go back one day to this hotel, the management are constantly walking round and asking for feedback, they were making improvements by adding fans to the outside area and I felt they were really trying to make this mini resort great. If you like plenty of british around you and great evening entertainment go to the Cornelia Diamond if you want to be truly spoilt and indulged and you want the best then head to the Maxx Royal.......

Room Tip: Rooms on the adam and eve side get the sun all day..

My wife and I stayed here in mid-April, we thought the hotel looked absolutely amazing, the decor and general feel of the place is definitely 5 star. These are the good and bad bits:

Good
Rooms are lovely and spacious with large balconies.
Food at the buffet restaurant was very good, best I've seen at a buffet style place.
Afternoon tea and cakes at the patiserrie.
Entertainment staff extremely friendly, but not too intrusive.
Bar staff in general were very good.
Lunch was available at several restaurants, so you didn't have to go to the buffet.
Ice Cream, everywhere, in the hotel, round by the pool, it was fantastic.

Bad
Reception staff were awful, had no concept of customer service.
The "A la Carte" restaurants in the evening were only ok, they were serving no better food than the buffet, and the staff in the "A la Carte's" were generally pretty miserable.

The last two things really annoyed me and I wrote on their comments card when I left, which they have not responded to.

The head of the room cleaning team was extremely rude at one point during our stay, pushing in front of my fairly obviously pregnant wife to get into a lift before us. We had been waiting a few minutes for the lift, only for her to appear out of nowhere and jump in it before us, then try and select a floor to go up when we had been waiting to go down. No apology, she got out of the lift when it wasn't going up and mumbled something about the lifts being poor.

Second moan, we had booked a Roof Suite, when we arrived we were shown immediately to a regular suite on the 2nd floor. I questioned the young lady that she'd taken us to the wrong room, to which she replied "this is an upgrade to the room you booked". As we'd booked the Roof Suite we asked to see it before we make a decision on which to choose, she told us the roof suites were fully booked and that this was a better, more expensive room. We later found out that the roof suites weren't fully booked, but having work done to replace the safety rail. Now, I'm all for getting free upgrades, but why didn't they just tell the truth in the first place?

Well, that's it, some really good pieces, just a few bits that soured it a little.

We stayed in Maxx Royal terrace family suite for 10 days in June. Room is more than comfortable, plenty of space, cool, large beds, 40’ TV LCD with USB port from which you can run your own divx cartoons (pretty useful when you have a small child).
There is a pillow menu which lets you choose between 5 different pillow types, but, as someone else remarked – what is the use when you need to call 3-4 times, as they do not understand English language, and bring you wrong pillows. This goes for any call when you need to communicate something in plain English – operator will transfer you 3-4 times to some other person, that other person to someone else, and finally when the guy who ‘’speaks English’’ listens to you, he/she will definitely do something completely opposite from your request.
However, this is a bad thing if you are a person who tries to communicate in English. But, 95% of guests in Maxx Royal are Russians – why would staff bother with English? Meal names are written in Turkish, Russian and in English. 95% of hotel income come from Russia – that is the main reason why no one bothers with English. Animation is in Russian, all staff speak perfect Russian, there is number of Russian channels on TV.
There is a problem with English reviewers who insist on English, as like the English language is ESPERANTO, universal language for communication in the world! Unfortunately, that is NOT correct, and you cannot blame the people for not understanding your mother tongue PERFECTLY. That is just one form of discrimination. Majority of reviews here are in English, and people who write reviews here are minority in the hotel. Mine honest opinion is that this is the main reason why Maxx royal underscores on Trip advisor (#17 in Belek).
More about hotel: simply remarkable interior, walls, ceilings, floors, bars, elevators, architecture, botanic, pools, cinemas, maxxi land... This is THE BEST hotel in this area, and this is what you partly pay for in high price.
Maxxi land is children entertainment centre where plenty of fun starts each day: play rooms for different ages, kids restaurants, 2 cinemas, outside play area with slides, mini disco... This is just something that will help you a lot.
Main restaurant Unlimited is very well organized, there is variety of main meals during dinner time. There are 2 quite similar ‘cooking stations’, but basically they differ as one is organized with kebab/giros machine and Chinese wok meals, and the other is grill/pasta station. As soon as you enter main restaurant (pass the blue Christmas tree) each night there is different setting: turkey, chicken, lamb, sushi, veal ribs, veal variations, duck. Other grilled things are quite similar every night: chicken wings/legs, Turkish burgers, meat balls, turkey escallops, beef steaks, fish... Lots of all kind of salads, bakery, cheese etc.
Hotel animation and shows are adorable, Circa bar is packed around 9pm, do not miss any show, as each and every take hotel animation to a completely new level of entertainment.
Aqua park is great for kids, lots of different slides, different pools, for all ages and tastes, two different bars with snacks and drinks.
Overall impression is that we had a great time in this hotel, would definitely come back. The only thing that can bother is English language misunderstandings, but – what a hack, its not my mother tongue, and its not that hard to communicate with staff like people here are presenting it. One can get impression like when you come to Maxx Royal that you checked in at some tribal island where you need to write symbols in the sand to get locals to understand you – and that is simply NOT true. I say go for Maxx royal, you will love it.

Room Tip: Family terrace suite on the pool level are the best. Suites on the 1st and 2nd floor have jacuzzi on...

We stayed in a Terrace Famiy Suite(2 adults-3 Children-aged 7,4 and 18 mth) for 2 weeks. The room had 2 large bedrooms, one room with double bed and french doors opening up on to the lovely large pool with 2 sun loungers(we were ground floor, perfect if you have young children) with a cot and large bathroom with shower. The 2nd room had twin beds, large bathroom with shower and a terrace. Beds were very comfy and had plasma tvs with dvd players in each room.
Theres a varity of pools to chose from, each have a sun covered kids pool with slides next to it and all pools are kept really clean and at a nice temperature, not to cold but refreshing!
Beach was lovely, again kept very clean and nice clear sea water.
Plenty of sun beds at either the beach or pool but never felt crowded where ever we were even though the hotel is massive!
This truely is an all inclusive hotel, every bar(which there are many)have a huge selection of drink, the buffet restaurant has great food and the 4/5 a la carte restaurants which you have to book a day or so in advance served lovely food aswel(there is a 15euro charge for adults at the a la carte restaurants and certain wines they charge for) we had the free house wine which was fine!
On the whole the hotel was emaculate, very well kept and staff very friendly, there was plenty for the kids to do, the kids club looked great but our children stayed with us everyday, i think mainly because most of the children were foriegn and that put them off.
If your a fussy traveller you may not like the fact that alot of the staff dont speak english(Quite alot of reviews i have read compain about bad staff) but we found all staff freindly even if the language barrier was a problem at times-The russian families were generally rude but thats not the hotels fault.
Would definatley go back i the near future and need to give the waterpark a special mention, my 7 and 4 year old absolutely loved it(even my 18mth old went on alot of the slower shoots) it has a bar and restaurant with nice lunch food, great pizzas, right beside the kids pool so you can relax and keep a close eye on the kids at the same time. Very relaxed atmosphere and surprisingly not to busy in the afternoon!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the building across from main hotel, perfect if you have kids, not as busy, plenty of o...

We spent 7 days in this hotel. Last 2 years we went to Susesi. We tried a variety of services and come to the conclusion that this is not a 5 star hotel. We are not the kind of people which are difficult or hard to please, but services in Maxx Royal are below the expected value.

We ordered roof suite with sea view and jacuzzi on balcony. Upon arrival, we were shown a normal sea view room, without jacuzzi and no explanation. After our remark, they brought us to a roof suite view with 2 separate beds, stating this was the only other option they had. Eventually we settled for the normal room on the first floor.

Room service was prompt and correct, although very limited choice of food.

Guest relations: ordered extra pillows, 5 hours later we had to call again and received the wrong pillows. You can choose out of 5 types of pillows, which is useless if you have to call multiple times and end up bringing the wrong ones.

Main restaurant: sections with cheese, main dish, salad bar and vegetables, bread and deserts. Although food is excellent, choice in main dishes is limited and only very small variation. After 2 days you will end up eating the same main dish.
Service in main restaurant was ok, because we tipped the waiter the first day with 5 euro, next day he took extra care of us. We gladly tipped him every evening for a good service. We have the impression that without tip, sevice would be poor like in the other restaurants/bars.

Bars: prepare to call a waiter to your table after waiting 10 minutes, nobody will show up by himself. When you order in perfect english, be sure he will show up 15 minutes later with the wrong drinks or part of your order. This is not a one time experience but happened every single time. From 20 occasions, only once they brought us the correct drinks in under 5 minutes . One evening I ended up with 2 mojitos after asking 3 different waiters and waiting 30 minutes.

A la carte restaurants: reservation was ok, although first they stated it was not for children, later they corrected this and helped me perfectly. Libanese restaurant and chinese a la carte, without music, dirty windows at terrace and poor service, same misunderstandings when ordering and repeating your orders over and over or settle with wrong drinks. Steak restaurant: waiter didnt understand a lot of English, ignored our table. We stayed more then 30 minutes with 5 dirty plates which we put aside ourselves. We ordered french Wine (extra cost) and had to fill our glasses ourselves as our waiter was not attentive at all.

Aquapark: slides and children pool, 1 bar and bistro at other side of Hotel. Infrastructure for children is very ok. Lifeguards enough and attent. However the bistro and bar staff: same remark. They dont understand what you order, and you end up repeating and being frustrated. We went here almost every day. One day when a manager came in inspection, staff was friendly, they suddenly all started to clean the floor and orden the pool chairs, however as soon as he left, all returned back to normal.

Reception/Lobby: to arrive at Golf or Aqua park, they provide a shuttle (golf buggy), as it is located at the north side and quite distant. We used this multiple times, however, you have to be lucky to find someone giving you attention outside at the entrance, even more lucky if shuttle is appearing under 15 minutes.
Guests with more expensive suites are given a golf buggy for transportation. We almost got driven over 2 times and they let children drive with it. Be carefull !

Conclusion: great infrastructure and great location. All services you can wish for are present, but very poor service. Its frustrating to notice that other Hotels in Belek are giving 10 times better service. This being one of the most expensive hotels in Belek, is absolutely not giving value for money. Next year we will go back to Susesi, where we had a vacation, not an expensive frustrating experience with badly trained and supervised staff. Avoid this hotel!

Great hotel - Friendly and helpful staff. Accommodation couldn't be beaten in our view. The room was actually twice the width of the regular standard hotel double room.

Food in the restaurant was the typical turkish/ european 'buffet' style. We found there was ample choices every evening (we stayed 14 nights) with a lot of barbequed fish and meats.

There are a lot of places to sunbathe and you could eat almost 24 hours per day! We have previously stayed in the Xanadu hotel (also in Belek) but would prefer the Maxx next time.

Our only issue (we are a couple without children) was the noise created by the young children (usually russian: I'm afraid to sound racist here, but the clientle seemed 90% russian) - children were allowed to run around the hotel 'open areas) even as late as 11 o'clock at night!

This is no fault of the hotel of course, but there seemed to be little way to find a 'quiet area' at all. Although the hotel does advertise '16+ Adult' dining expriences, we found little evidence of this. In fact one family were encouraged to take a table in the (very) small '16+ dining area' by the waitering staff!

Having said the above, we still found the hotel a very comfortable and enjoyable experience, and would consider it if we return to Belek in the future.

This place is new, and many earlier reviewers used this as a possible excuse for teething problems. The staff in this hotel have not been trained in customer experience, and are not willing to enhance your stay in any way. They are rude, and will not listen even if there are genuine problems, and management are no better. Mediocre hotel, the only thing that impresses is the lavish new surroundings. What good are the aesthetics if the staff are not trained to 5 star standards. Please take heed, as I'm not one to write reviews normally! I felt I had to.

Room Tip: All the rooms are v similar so don't fall into this trap. Even better don't go to this place...
