5th visit to this hotel, and cannot believe it, but it gets better every time. In previous reviews we have raved about the facilities, the food and the fantastic service, which is all as good, if not better than ever.
All of the staff are very good, but we must give a special mention to Omer, Arthur and Yasar on the entertainment team, and to Nevzat, Emin, Selcuk and Mesute the bar staff
The only thing missing is Slimline tonic, but hey, we are on holiday!

Room Tip: All good, quieter on the land view side.

We have been to numerous hotels in Turkey over the last 15 years and this is by far the best hotel we have stayed at and as my title suggests it should be in a special class because the 5 star hotel rating is given to most of the hotels in the area.
I am a Destination Expert for Belek and Antalya and have experienced hotels in other areas of Turkey but this is our favourite area because we like the quality and the Ultra All Inclusive hotels.
The saying "You get what you pay for" is true and to stay at the Maxx Royal is more expensive than most the other 5 star hotels. If you can plan your holiday in advance and go out of the main season then like us you could get a reasonable priced holiday if you book early. We still paid more than we would have paid for the other hotels in Belek for the same date but it was really worth the extra we paid.

My first contact with the Maxx Royal was in January this year after I booked it in December 2012 and I asked for a fact sheet and some hotel information, I do believe I was so lucky that the lovely Alesya Sen replied to my e-mail. I am sure all of the many Guest Relations staff there are wonderful but she really does go that extra mile to help you and her delightful Manager agreed.I was not on their system but had made special requests for a mountain view as we had booked the cheapest room option, a land view Jacuzzi roof suite. In May out of the blue I received an e-mail saying our booking was now showing and requests all though not guaranteed had been added to our booking I replied to thank her as we were at another so called 5 star waiting to move hotels and feeling really down. I said that she had made my day. She replied saying I can say that I am sure you will 99% have a great stay at the Maxx Royal.I had explained we were coming to the Maxx Royal as a belated birthday celebration for my husbands special birthday and she said we will meet to arrange a surprise. The May holiday was an early birthday celebration but we came home deflated. My niece was marrying in July so we could not go for the actual date, so I decided to book 2 special hotels out of season or so I thought.
We arrived knowing this was not going to be a disappointment as other TA forum members I speak to had been previously and given their seal of approval.

We had a 50 minute flight delay and arrived around 3.30pm in our private taxi as part of our A la Carte holiday to be greeted with chocolate covered strawberries and champagne and asked to take a seat. Along came a lovely guy from reception, who took our details and gave us a run down of the hotel. He went off to take copies of the passports and along came the lovely waitress Sibil to take our order. I had seen the Remy Martin on the bar shelf so ordered this with a diet coke and lots of ice, my husband ordered a Becks beer. it was when the drinks came that we realised the service was unlike any other 5 star hotel we had stayed at. The wait staff wear white gloves and come with your order, open up a small folding table and place the tray on this.Your drinks are not just given to you but served in this way with great care. We sat in the lovely comfortable lobby with a wonderful view of the sun shimmering on the sea and this was to be the start of a most memorable holiday.......

So off we went to our room escorted by the same reception guy I think he is called Fasal where he explained the room facilities to us. Wow we loved the room and Wow what a lovely panoramic view we had of Belek with a stunning mountain back drop. We may have had the cheapest room option but we could have not wanted for more.

The room was exactly as requested , a quiet location and this was what we got and the bonus was it was off the main atrium down a quiet corridor and perfect for my husband who has a fear of heights and if we chose the right lift he did not need to see down to the ground floor.
The room was spotlessly clean and was kept that way for all of our stay. The bed was huge and so comfortable and the crisp white bed linen changed daily. There were nice lamps and mood lighting in the room and everything was perfect, There was ample storage space and loads of wardrobe and drawer space. We liked the fairy lights that lit the wardrobe as you opened the doors. The safe was the largest we have ever had and you could fit the largest of laptops in there. One wardrobe could be locked using a combination code. The bathroom was large with a huge rain shower cubicle and the toilet was separate with a door and in the middle of both was the vanity unit with sink. Toiletries were as you might expect top quality and Hermes products, shaving kits with a good razor and foam and toothbrush with a neat cover for the head and Colgate total toothpaste. Replaced daily if used. The shower cap had an hair band in the box which was handy. Nail clippers, file and combs are provided and maybe the only thing missing was a face cloth but we got round that ourselves as explained later. The room has a switch that you can click for " make the room" or "do not disturb" and early evening if you prefer click the latter as they come round to turn down the beds and place a message and a Godiva chocolate on your pillow these a delicious, and they also replace the used towels which you place in the wash linen basket. They do come back again if you put the make the room on as you leave.
The mini bar is well stocked and you get a small red and white wine, usual water but no plastic bottles here, it is in glass bottles and even the water for your kettle is in large glass bottles. Bottled Beers and soft drinks to.You get a snickers and a Nestle wafer bar daily and ruffles salted crisps, 2 types of nuts and some savoury snack sticks. Nescafe gold blend in sachets and carnation coffee mate and a selection of teas,You have a neat marble area to prepare drinks and a selection of glasses on a shelf above.
The air conditioning unit was the quietest we have experienced and no room noise from the next door neighbours. It really was the best room we have had for comfort.... well until room number 2 !

Yes do make a cuppa my review might be a long one ........

This hotel is most unusual and the lobby lift takes you up to the top floor number 5 but our room was 1710. then you can go down to 0 - 1 and - 2 I had still not got the hang of it after 10 days !! There was never really a wait for lifts even when the conferences were on ! There are 3 lift areas but like I say we used the furthest one for my husbands benefit.
When you get to the bottom two floors it is like a large Shopping Mall with some seriously expensive designer shops and Jewellery shops etc and there is an actual Florist shop in the Mall. The hotel has the most fabulous displays of flowers supplied by this shop which I assume is the hotels own florist. The dining room entrance had some fabulous displays as did the coffee tables in the lobby. There is the Movenpick and Haagen dazs ice cream stand on -1 floor which opens from 11pm until 10pm with some lovely flavours there. Across the way is the Socie Tea and Coffee house and further along is the Irish bar called the Dublin Bar and thanks to a lovely German couple we spoke with one evening early in our stay we discovered they had real draught Guinness so we usually made our way there twice a day.We made friends with one of the lovely staff in there Arzu who has "little English" her words not mine but we found ourselves helping her with this !! She used to call us Sir and Lady and we did actually feel like we were living the dream and experiencing how the "other half live" We did tell her our names which are easy to remember !
Moving down to level -2 there is the fabulous Le Melange Patisserie which is themed like a French Parisian Café and what a selection of lovely cakes, pastries , muffins. crème caramels and they have in there, and even my favourite a scrummy carrot cake and they have a wonderful coffee selection. They also have the Belgium chocolates in there. In reality we used it a few times, not every day but it was extremely popular and opens from 9.30am until 11pm.
The Horse bar which we loved was formerly the disco bar but I suspect because of the open atrium and the rooms off this were affected with the noise it has been transformed in to the Horse Bar Lounge. There is live music in there in the evening and there were some great live acts and sometimes just a duo but sometimes a trio or one day 6 Musicians played in there. It closes at midnight .There is a Sushi bar in there serving from 6pm until11pm. There seems to be an authentic chef and a lovely Japanese lady greets you as you go in the Horse Lounge. Service is top at this bar and always plenty of staff. I can see this bar being a real hit in winter time.
The main buffet is on this floor to !

Well you have such a choice in the main season and our favourite spot during the day was the Havana Beach bar. We would go there late morning for a couple of drinks before lunch and admire the lovely views. The service is excellent here and considering they are also supplying the many waiters who wait on guests at the beach and pools they do a wonderful job. One of excellent bar chiefs there is Mesut and he is excellent and works extremely hard himself and he always has his eye on the guests to ensure they have first class service. The waiters are supported by excellent barmen behind the bar. Some waiters have a Walkie Talkie type set up and they are relaying their orders taken at the beach, pools etc to save on waiting time. We had live music at the Havana bar several days at 5.00pm with Salsantana a group from Columbia and this would go on until 6.30pm, it was a popular time of day and a shame this was not every day.Two of the animators gave Salsa lessons and these two were a joy to watch. One afternoon they had lots of people joining in their Salsa master class on the grassed area. We preferred this group doing their Latino music rather than the time we saw them in the Circa bar one evening singing a broader range of music. During the day they asked for requests and generally joined in and it was a great atmosphere. They were going home after a busy season and the last few days we really missed them.
On the grass at different times they did activities so it was nice watching these crazy games and some family type events like the family football shoot out and mini Olympics and Kite flying etc.
In summer this bar stays open until Midnight and there is live music I think most evenings there but we arrived as the bar time changed to 7pm.
We made a friend early on in Selcuk one of the excellent waiters and he always liked to serve us as we had little chats to him. All the staff were excellent at this bar and every bar though and we had lots of fun with them.I always take loads of chocolate on holiday for the staff as you could not possibly tip everyone, especially here as there are so many and they loved the random treats.
You can get iced flannels here from a fridge and they will bring you one if you ask.
Loved the covered pots of nuts and ruffle crisps here served with drinks and only at this bar and round the pools did you get plastic drink glasses.

This has got to be the best outdoor venue with state of the art lighting and music system and a huge stage. There is loads of seating and in summer I can imagine is very well used.
The bar here is very long and has lovely chandeliers hanging, It really is a lovely place to be.
We still had some excellent acts on whilst we were there but some evenings were a bit chilly and the audience numbers dropped then.We did get nice black wraps to wear with Maxx Royal logo and so it made watching the show bearable. Service was excellent and drink came before you had quite finished you current one. Sometimes with a plate with lovely sliced fresh fruit and again the nibbles.Selcuk or Emre really looked after us there.
The Circa bar is used during the day as the Circa snack bar but food is cooked to order and waiter service and an extensive menu is offered there. We had a few lovely lunches here with a view towards the sea..
Toilets at this venue are very clean and stylish and like all the hotel toilets they are always pristine.

There is an aqua park bar but never got that far.

The hotel has a well used terrace off the main lobby bar and this area had patio heaters for those inclined. We are non smokers but thought it was well planned with comfy seating for those that like to smoke. One slight niggle is you came out of the revolving door some evenings you got hit by the smoke and maybe just the immediate area coming out of the hotel doors could be non smoking. Most evenings it was okay but when a conference was on it was worse.

Buffet was excellent and again service was superb even at busy times. We kept mostly to the one seating section but there are several areas off the main food court.
One section has adult tables and at the end lower seating for children so aimed at families.
The food choice was extensive at all meal times.
Breakfast had the best choice we have seen at any hotel and catered for all tastes.
There are outdoor sections off both sides of this restaurant and some lovely water features but we dined indoors, mainly because of smokers but also the time of year.
We had a lovely surprise early on in our stay and saw a former Manager of the Mexican A la Carte at the Susesi. This was 4 years ago but we said hello and reminded him how great he had looked after us there. Obviously they see many guests but once we jogged his memory he remembered. Anyhow ufuk has been at the Maxx Royal 2 years and still the same nice guy he was then. He always came to speak to us without fail to ask was everything okay He offered us an A la Carte and booked us in the Italian where our table was decorated beautifully with red rose petals. The head waiter came over and said ufuk had rang to see if we had arrived and to wish us a lovely evening.
We also became good friends with 3 rather cuddly waiters who were always so happy and one had been in on a joke regarding chocolate one evening so always said hello. We called them the 3 Amigos or "chocolate monsters" as I would randomly take them some !!
We booked the Steak House with Alesya prior to travel, all the A la Carte's are 20 Euro per person and there is a designated desk on - 2. where we collected our receipt and were told to ask at reception for a buggy to the Steak House which is on the golf course.
We had the most wonderful night there on our second night at the hotel. The food was excellent but service was superb by Emre and Senol and I think Hasan Kabaday as he wrote his name but not sure I can make it out. We joked when asked did we want more brud that it is Bread !! Anyway I gave one some chocolate so he could read the name and he said thanks for my English lesson and I said this is for you!. One made me a flower from a paper napkin and then the other came along to and started to make one but then the next minute handed me a gigantic bouquet of flowers, I was so amazed and said you must be joking. He said an Honeymoon couple had not showed up and I could have them ! So maybe not intended for me but it made my day !! There was a birthday party in but they chose to give them to me so we did leave with a huge smile !

Bistro 21
Great venue if you want to dine later, it opens at 10pm until 7pm next day and just closed 3 hours hence the name. You can get a late breakfast there to and there is a great outdoor terrace off the main dining area with lovely sunny aspect and views. Great food options and as usual great service. It is a lovely dining room with photos of some famous movie stars in their day !
Oceans Restaurant is a lovely venue and we had lunch a few times here.
There is a nice relaxed feel to it and service again was great with a good menu again and food is cooked to order.
You can book an A la Carte Village Breakfast here rom 8.30am until 11am but you need to make a Reservation at the booking desk on - 2

There are 5 A la carte Restaurants but we only used the two detailed above.

There is the Maxxville Gozleme place which opens at11am until 4pm and you can eat in or take away and they are delicious and cooked with requested fillings as you order. There are freezers full of all the ice creams like magnum, twisters and cornetto's etc here to.
Fruit Bar is open 11am until 5pm and is just further along with every fruit imaginable and you can help yourself to this.
So as you can gather you will never starve but are guaranteed to come home heavier.

We used the heated pool area each day and loved the double sun beds so much so my husband got up to save the one we liked but really more because we liked that spot. There were lots of normal beds but a limited number of the double beds in early morning sun. He collected my daily latte and cognac and then back to bed for him ! He said the barman prepared it when he saw him !! lol
At this pool we had the lovely Volkan serving us and we used to have nice chats to ! He knew our order and looked after us so well, Ibrahim was also a great guy and knows something about everything and he used to make us laugh.
All pools have waiter service and you can have whatever you like. Drinks served to your sunbed and nibbles to !
There were so many loungers that I am sure even in summer you would never struggle to find some and then the beach has loads more. We never used the adult pool,

We were lucky to be there for Republic Day and see the celebration and a special year it was as it was the 90th Anniversary. The children formed a procession with a band and staff and what a lovely effort they made. It was quite emotional to see how proud the staff and everyone Turkish was and we enjoyed being part of this lovely Celebration.

The staff here are superb and hard to mention them all so have mentioned a few that made our holiday but there were so many others who did that.
I was told the are have tests to get their job and some are hand picked and we were told that this winter they can have language lessons. Most had a very good command of English some not quite so good but you always got there and never a problem.
The hotel is relaxed, the staff not under pressure and they do have time to engage with you. At the same time what becomes clear they are all proud to work at this hotel and this is evident in all areas.
We do like to tip but there are no tip boxes here. It would be impossible to tip them all as there are so many. People may think she gives chocolate to get good service but believe me this is not the case nor would you need to here. It started by accident after taking chocolate for our son and him being to busy to eat it one year at the Barut Lara. Rather than take it back I handed it out to the staff. I saw how much joy they got and have done this now for several years. One guy joked I have 5 children and I said well share it. One evening I asked after the kids and he said I don't have any !! I said I know that !! I gave him some chocolate and he said we and he pointed round love you and your chocolate !

We met the lovely Arthur early in our holiday and had some interesting chats with him and also Kristina. The team was reduced for winter but still a good amount of them left. We enjoyed as stated earlier Hassan and his partner dancing to the Latin music and we were just getting used to them all when we were coming home.
Halloween they put on a good party and we had some amazing fireworks shared I think with their sister hotel the Voyage Belek next door.We all got flashing horns and you could queue to be made up. We nipped in to see the set up for the disco party and it looked great. Arthur said do we know each other!! I said Hi Arthur, he had been showing us his costume in a photo from last year the night before, so he was easy to spot!!

There is a great Games Arcade with free games and there is a bar in there but we never used this. There is a book room which had a few English books in there. There is a vitamin bar in the lovely indoor pool and the Spa looks lovely and inviting,
There is a great area for late departures and this is the FREEZONE not the Arcade as we first thought. There is a fridge filled with soft drinks, comfy seating, showers and lockers and very well thought out.
Maxiland which we did not visit but there is a little train to take you there.
The drive is quite long so you can request a golf ride to the main gates were Taxis are waiting, You are given a pass to get back as you leave to be shown on your return.

I really must have missed loads out and we did not see half of this superb hotel, I could have wrote a book but here is the account of Alesya and her effort to make the Belated Birthday special.
We were left speechless !
Aleysa had said she would do something but to be honest we had everything and then I was unwell for a few days.
I noticed a fruit platter on the second day and thought the wine was the one in the room when we arrived. I ate some of the lovely fruit but never saw the card with it until the next day.It was from Aleysa saying if we needed anything please let her know. We did ask for her to thank her but she had already left that day and then again next day, It was several days before we finally met her briefly and she said she had rung our room twice and asked had we asked for her at Reception She asked was everything fine and I said we love our room just a shame we had no sun on the balcony She offered to try and move us but I said no we are so happy with the room aspect because of my husbands fear of heights but thanked her.. Anyway I said we would meet her next day but as we went to the lobby she was called away and after waiting a while we knew it must be urgent so we went off to get ready for the evening. So it was Wednesday of our second week that we sat with her at 9pm as arranged in the lovely lobby bar,She said she really needed to speak more with English speakers after a summer with very few, She had no idea of the TA forums or of what being a DE meant. She was interested to know that she could follow comments about the hotel. I showed her my live thread on my iPad and she was surprised. Anyhow my husband went to take it to the room as by 10.15pm I knew he as thinking about going to the Irish bar !! We are so creatures of habit. Aleysa said oh good so now we can make the surprise. Had I thought of anything and I said well really we have everything we need but could Paul have a pint of Guinness at the heated Pool maybe with a few balloons. So she said she was off Thursday so we arranged this for 11am Friday. She said she would decorate our room with balloons and flower art and we would have fruit and wine.
Sat on my lounger that morning Aleysa suddenly appeared and said it was arranged that once my husband was out of the pool the Guinness was ready. She said but if you like I would like to prepare the surprise in a Maldive Villa. I said so do you mean we can stay there tonight. No she said you can stay until you leave. It was arranged that we would come to the Reception at1pm on the pretext of having a tour of one. The Guinness arrived in 2 half pint glasses on a wood tray with nuts and attached there were 4 balloons in gold and silver and the Volkan and a lady sang!!. My husband was thrilled with this and what a nice surprise he said. Later I said I needed to nip to the room for something while he had a swim. I wanted my ipad but our room was already being decorated and almost finished so thought had I misunderstood ! We went for our late morning drinks as usual and I said I had asked to see a Maldive villa to see how the other half live ! He is so easy to surprise as he never questioned this and off we went !
Well to say we were both shocked was an understatement as the room had red silk sheets on, loads of balloons on the bed, red roses in a vase and flower petals spelling out Belated Birthday on the floor. The Jacuzzi was filled and had rose petals in it ! WOW these rooms are amazing !
As Alesya left she said your champagne is in the fridge and enjoy the villa.
She said move at your leisure but we really felt we should vacate the other room so they could re-use it.The room had a separate dressing room with a bar and several bottles of spirits but from the brands you know it caters more for wealthy Russian guests but there was a bottle of Baileys and Chivas Regal.
In the fridge was a bottle of Dom Perignon.
We had lunch then packed up and moved in the room. It was going dark so we set off for late afternoon drinks at the Havana Bar. It was this evening we had the Italian booked and to be honest we never used a thing in the room.
Saturday we sought Alesya and I said it is to much but she said of course you should use the room,it is a gift! So we did use the Baileys to drink in the Jacuzzi which was lovely as a non swimmer I loved that. Alesya had said she wanted us to have a useable Jacuzzi so I think maybe the villa came available and we just got so lucky.
We will never probably afford this in our life time but had a little taste of true luxury !
We did get asked to speak with Tarkan the GM and this was a daunting thought so slightly apprehensively we met him and he is the most down to earth guy and we had a pleasant chat and he to was interested in the TA forum. He called his wife to come and I showed them the forum and she was also interested to know about it.He could not believe people in the UK book holidays so far in advance.
I mentioned the Villa and clearly he did not know about it but said enjoy it.

I think if your still reading this you get the idea that we absolutely loved this Hotel.
The staff are superb and the attention to detail wonderful and yes we have been spoilt !
The little things like glass bottles of water, the toilets have soap dispensers that foam the soap ready for you, then the individual face cloth size towels to dry your hands on ! My husband would collect a couple for the room as they do not supply face cloths in the room. The lovely comfy slippers in blue and pink that get changed if need be, or even red ones when you get the red bed linen and red robes !! Each drink is prepared with care and you would get a brandy on a glass tray with walnuts, apricots; figs or maybe chocolates. Drinks come with a separate mixer so no warm drinks where the ice melts as soon as it is put in and all branded mixers !
Every drink is a quality premium imported drink, there are no cheap substitutes here and nothing is hidden in a cupboard. If you ask for a latte with a cognac there are expensive brands that cost serious money here in the UK and your asked which would you like..
So if like us you thought it was out of your reach and even if only once in your life you want something special in Turkey then try and increase your budget and book here !
It might not appeal to those that must have fellow Brits around them 24/7 but for us that maybe part of the appeal ! There are plenty of English speaking Guests !

Highlight apart from all the above was my husband got to have his photo taken with Lee Westwood and got his autograph and with Ian Poulter who were both there for the first Turkish Open It was the talk of the hotel and was a delight to hear how proud the staff were to be having this Tournament at the Maxx Royal.
THANK YOU ONE AND ALL for our wonderful memories !!
We are saving up to return !!

The holiday I had there was fantastic and will be remembered for a long time. The food was always consistent and brilliant in every restaurant and the service was outstanding. The family suite rooms were also a plus as you had a hallway that split Into two separate rooms for the parents and the kids. But I have to say, the entertainment was the best I have seen in any hotel, and their facilities for this were very good! In particular, I would like to mention Selda Turna, a part of the entertainment team, who was dedicated to the hotel and really made our holiday worth while! The bar staff were very lovely and always had a smile on their faces, and you never had to go to the bar for a drink as they always came to you. I would also like to give a big mention to Emre Yildiz, who was very attentive and motivated, and was always such a pleasure. I had now been there twice and plan on going back as Maxx Royal really does have everything.

This is my second visit to Turkey with 3 friends to enjoy relaxing in the sun and play some golf in wonderful hot sunshine. After a 4 hour flight from Bristol it was wonderful walking into a spacious and luxurious reception area to be greeted with champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. We were seated in comfortable lounge chairs and the paperwork brought to us while we enjoyed the refreshments. We had 2 Roof Suite rooms with plenty of storage for clothes - essential for girls on tour. Rooms were kept spotless and good quiet ac.
The choice of food was wide and varied, even for the most fussiest of eaters, and served by friendly helpful staff. There are a la carte restaurants for which you pay a supplement but the main restaurant was excellent. I would like to mention that one of my party doesn't really drink any spirits and she found it difficult to get a good Sauvignon Blanc in the all inclusive package. A special thanks goes to Himrah who looked after us well in the main restaurant.
It is a must to visit the coffee shop and also enjoy the delicious handmade chocolates.
The evening shows were of a very high standard and varied. My favourites were the Action Street Dance and Teulis Shadow Theatre. However, it is also worth mentioning Salsatana who played wonderful Latin music both at the Havana Beach Bar and Circa Show Center. Thanks to Rada for a quick dance lesson.
I always think an important part of an enjoyable stay are the entertainment staff. They are all excellent but I feel it necessary to mention a few in particular. Omer ensured we knew what was happening and where to go but without being pressured. We all enjoyed the archery and rifle shooting with him. He made sure we were okay throughout our stay. Thanks to Nadia for tiring us out in her wonderful Zumba Class and not forgetting Hikmet and Rada. If I have to make a criticism it is that they gave us so much choice it was difficult to decide which activity not to do!!
Whilst by the pool we were very well looked after by Emre serving us with coffees, soft drinks, G & T's etc..
The hotel provides a shuttle to the Montgomerie Golf Course. We played 3 times and enjoyed the challenge.
I would like to finish by thanking Tarkan, the General Manager who quietly goes about his job, completely unobtrusive, but obviously ensures the smooth and professional running of this fantastic hotel. We will be back!!

I have not been a place like this. It is wonderful. Really. We stayed there as a family for 6 nights, all inclusive and I think other hotels that think they are all inclusive should come and see what it means. Everything is of very high quality. The rooms are stunning, very big and comfortable. We had an extra bed for our son in the room. The main restaurant offers a lot of variety and it is very good. The service in the restauarant is excellent. Maxiland which is the kids club in unbelievable. Even the best kindergardens in Turkey does not have this facility. There was even a kids cinema in 3 languages in Maxiland. There is Dinoland which is an open park full of dinasours where your children become extremely happy. SPA and Turkish bath was very good, I had an Indian head massage which was wonderful. Sea is also very good with a wide sand beach. I don't think I can stay in any other place in Turkey any more. Yes, it is expensive but definetely worth it!
