“A wonderful family holiday experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 August 2014

I spent eight nights at the Gloria with my wife and our two young boys, and by the time we came to leave, we really didn't want to go - and I had to promise our children we would return next year! This was based principally around the fact that the hotel has a quite superb water park, and two excellent kids clubs (an indoor play area - the Gogi Fun Jungle - and a more traditional kids club with activities during the day). In addition, the food is remarkably good for an AI resort, and things like drinks and ice creams are real branded products.

We stayed in a Family Suite, and this was ideal for a family of our size - two bedrooms with their own bathrooms (but odd that the bathroom with a 'tub' was in the adult bathroom, and the walk-in shower was in the kids' one!), and a sitting room area built on to the adult bedroom. These are all in two blocks right by a small restaurant that does breakfast and lunch (and drinks up to 6pm), swimming pool, and the Gogi Fun Jungle (which is free to people in the Family Suites).

The food offering is vast. There are several restaurants dotted around the resort for lunches, with some lovely outdoor locations in addition to the two main buffet restaurants (which serve identical food and might as well be one). Our favourite one was the Turkish restaurant, which did heavenly lamb chops and excellent kebabs. At dinner, the choice in the buffet restaurants is vast, including cooked to order grilled fish/meat, various oriental offerings, and freshly cooked pasta with interesting sauces - plus the vast array of salads, puddings, and pre-cooked main courses.

Once a week AI guests can eat in each of the 3 a la carte restaurants, although to be sure of a booking, you have to be up at 8am two days in advance and book in person. We only ate at the Italian restaurant - and it was superb (especially given it was included in the AI deal).

There are some downsides to the Gloria, but not many, but it does take a bit of getting used to.... The majority of the clientele are Russian or Eastern European, and that can cause some cultural complications with Brits, including being often adjacent to smokers. We were not into long days of sunbathing, but I think those who like to bag loungers by the pool or beach may have some issues which need resolving - we noted that the family pool loungers were all grabbed by breakfast (admittedly a fairly late breakfast) every day.

Our two big negatives were a) the cost of babysitting. This is outrageous - 30 Euro per hour PER CHILD. We came from the Intercontinental in Istanbul, which provided a sitter for our two children for 20 Euros per hour in total, by way of comparison. We did it once, but could not afford to do it again. The other issue, b) was the prevalent attitude of the junior management and guest services team which, frankly, was offhand, and left one feeling that whatever the issue, nobody gave two hoots (I put this as politely as I can!). When you add to this that the waiting staff are manifestly over-worked (and probably underpaid), and that service at the bars and restaurants is haphazard, and comes with a smile sometimes, but with a scowl at others, that is a disappointment. (You should also not that there is no poolside service - you have to go to the bars/restaurants for service.)

Had we been there only for 48 hours, I think that the issues mentioned above would really have disappointed me. However, as we grew into how the resort worked, and how much it had to offer, we learned how the system worked, and just enjoyed ourselves more and more. We will, certainly, come back.

PS - Do not let the name confuse you. Frankly, this hotel has nothing golf-related to do with the day to day operation. The Gloria has golf courses, but it is not a 'golfing hotel' in the usual sense of that phrase at all!

This hotel has everything you could ask for:
An amazing setting; A wonderful beach; Quality food; A great pool and water park, and even an entertainment centre with a pinball machine!
All this is amazing considering how affordable the hotel is.

However, all this comes at a price. After my 14 day stay there, I have come to the conclusion that this a real glutton's paradise. You literally don't have to do anything. It depends though whether this is the style of holiday you want. I do not deny that it was a fantastic place, because it was. It has all the amenities you need for a great holiday. I just think that not having to do anything active for over a week has a bad impact on you.

That is really my only criticism of the Gloria Golf Hotel. I would still happily recommend the place to anyone. I think it is ideal for families, but a lot of free roaming small children may get on the nerves of some people. The criticism I gave is only a warning to not get carried away with the power of the room key card - with which you can order anything. A very nice holiday awaits those who choose to go here.

Recommended à la carte restaurants:
Italian
French (in Gloria Serenity resort)
Fish

I went to Gloria Golf together with 8 yo kid and we really enjoyed our stay there. The hotel is beautiful, well-maintained, the gardens are fantastic, the territory well planned, the food in buffet restaurants was tasty and of a good choice (we didn't like food in a-la-carte restaurants). Aquapark and pools make it perfect for vacations with kids. The beach is nice too, enough sunbeds for everyone. The only thing I didn't like is that the sea was dirty - I am sure it is possible to put some barriers for the rubbish from the boats so that it doesn't get to the bathing area.

Room Tip: We had a room on ground floor of the main building - it was good and comfortable.

We have just come back from an 11 night stay at the Gloria golf . We stayed in a family suite with my 3 children ( 8,6 and 2 ) I have never written a review before but felt compelled to write because we could not fault the hotel . The family suite was excellent and my kids loved the soft play ( jungle ) and water park which were both well staffed . Being all inclusive was such a bonus especially because it was of such a high standard and branded ice creams and drinks in a can etc . We ate in all the restaurants and some in the Gloria Serenity and never had a bad meal. We were with friends and between us we could not find a single complaint. Would definitely recommend and return.

Returned to this resort in August 2014, after the first time last year, 2013 September (when with pleasure rated this hotel with 5 out 5). But we have discovered some changes in service, and those are really disappointing.
This year, they banned children to enter spa area (hammam, sauna, indoor pool, etc.), explaining some child hurt on slippery floor, but frankly speaking such things can happen everywhere, even near pool - why nobody bans pools for children? we have had meeting with junior hotel management, but given explanations were really childish. With such small change this hotel loses at once the status of one of the best family hotels in Turkey, despite of all its advantages, like GOGI club and nice shows.
Another funny change is about extra charge within UAI concept for room service. Last year you could be safe, once you did not feel well, or just decided not to go out, staying in room - you could ask for all available in the common restaurants. This year - no way, you have to pay, sometimes very strange price like 10 Euro for a burger.
Generally the service has dropped over one year. Especially during lunch time, you cannot get appropriate service. No chairs around tables, waiters did not pay any attention to that fact. Slow food delivery and so on. Please bear in mind the price this hotel is asking - it just should not happen.
last year we recommended this hotel to all our friend's families, This year - we'll never do so.
Resume: hotel is good, but does not deserve ANYMORE the money it is asking.

Room Tip: rooms in the main building are the quietest, though the smallest

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay at Gloria Golf Resort. As Gloria Hotels & Resorts Management, our ultimate goal is to ensure guest satisfaction with our services. Therefore we would like to show our regret that we couldn't meet your expectations this stay in our hotel.

We would like to give explanation about the issues you have raised.

Children are indeed not allowed inside the SPA area. There are several reasons why children are not allowed inside the SPA center one them is it is a relax area and children are naturally more active (run, speak loud etc) the adults using the SPA facilities will be disturbed, a more important second reason is that environment is not suitable for children under the age of 16 years this considering their health. There is no restriction for use of the indoor pool by children.

The change of the UAI concept is a decision made by the Management. This new concept is written down and shared will all the agencies. Our guests who come to our hotel are informed about UAI facilities.

Concerning the service provided at the restaurant’s the Gloria Hotels & Resorts Management is one of the few hotels who are interested in promoting professional skills of the staff. All hotel procedures are in line with international standards and our staff is being trained accordingly to this standards. At high season times (July- August- September) the hotel occupation is mostly 100% the service can be unfortunately delayed. Your remark is shared with our F&B Manager and necessary measures will be taken.

We appreciate all forms of guest feedback, and through constructive comments we are able to continually improve our services and facilities for our guests.

Best regards

We came 5 yrs ago and loved it here and thought we'd give it another try. (Never returned to a resort). We loved again even more really. We are 5 people 2 adults 3 children but now that our oldest is 12 I think the hotel consider him an adult. So we had 2 x Garden rooms interconnecting which worked out more economical than a Family Suite in the height of the season. We booked everything separately accommodation flights and transfers.

Pluses A la carte wine menu
Gogi Fun Jungle (payable extra but if you just want PS it's €5
Jetty
Atmosphere
Staff and cleanliness immaculate never a bad smell in the toilets!
Gym
Yoga and Pilates area by the river
The Shows
The hot buffet food
The a la carte restaurants esp the Italien and the fish
The proximity to Serenity
The spa
The beach parties and fireworks
The plentiful pool seats
The relaxed towel service
Family suites and pool
The hotel grounds are very established and lush
Belek shopping
The amphitheatre
The water slides

The Cons
The Plastic pool sun loungers
The service wasn't 5* it was hit and miss and it was necessary to tip but then you wouldn't necessarily see the same waiter again.
The actual main pool is ok a little dated now compared to some hotels with cabanas by the pools. If you wanted a cabana on the beach you had to pay extra.

The resort is excellent, food is amazing and all services are fabulous, but when my daughter had some allergy, the reception couldn't provide the medicine because there was no pharmacy on site, in addition, it took them around 5 hours to order and deliver the wrong medicine which was eventually returned to where it came from...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay at Gloria Golf Resort. We are glad for the most part you enjoyed your accommodation. As Gloria Hotels & Resorts Management, our ultimate goal is to ensure guest satisfaction with our services.

We would like to point out that a pharmacy can’t be opened inside a hotel there are certain conditions required which are not available inside our hotel. When our guests need medicine the guest relation employees can order at any time the required medicine. We are sorry that you did not receive the medicine you wanted but the Guests Relations only orders the medicine which is requested. The order comes from a pharmacy we cannot be held responsible for the pharmacy bringing the wrong medicine.

We appreciate all forms of guest feedback, and through constructive comments we are able to continually improve our services and facilities for our guests.
