My Hubby and I have just returned from a fortnights' holiday at the Zeynep Golf and Spa Resort. We were in the new hotel where the bedrooms are lovely and spacious with fabulous bathrooms consisting of full size bath and large walk in showers with overhead and side shower heads. We were provided with robes and slippers too.
Each room have their own safe and mini bar, the mini bar is stocked every day with water, fruit juice, coke and fanta. There is also nice flat screen telly's provided but not many English speaking channels, although we don't come on holiday to watch the telly so it was no big deal.
On our first week at the hotel it was a Turkish festival, so the food was of a higher standard than the second week. I feel this is common practice in Turkey as we've encountered this many times. I don't agree that it's justifiable as if it wasn't for the "foreign" guests these hotels wouldn't survive with the Turkish alone, so I really think this should be addressed. The food was ok, but never really hot, even if you entered the dining room first, this might have something to do with the Chefs putting the food out at 5.45pm (I watched them do this from the foyer on the second week) yet the dining room isn't open for guests until approx 6.45pm so the food has loose heat.
There were two a la carte restaurants open while we were there. The French one was lovely, with nice friendly staff. They serve a 5 course meal and expect you to buy your wine, which was much nicer than the house wine and not very expensive, it ranged from £20 upwards. We were fortunate enough to use this restaurant twice each week as the hotel was quieter than peak season. We also used the Chinese twice and although it's nice, it's nothing like Chinese at home, we got served deep fried prawns with batter as a starter, this sounds lovely, but they left the shell, tail and head on, quite uneatable to be honest. I would advise the chef to remove the head and shell. Apart from that, the food was nice.
The entertainment at the hotel is just your usual Turkish entertainment. A guy singing in the foyer, which the German guests love as they dance the night away. The rest of the entertainment was a lot to be desired. If it wasn't for Nego I'd say the entertainment team are non existant. Nego however, was very friendly with the guests and made a point in asking the older people up to dance ect, the others were only interested in the younger woman.
The bar staff were a strange lot, they didn't appear to enjoy their job and looked miserable, especially Damla, she is so rude to the customers, I would suggest she gets a background job as she certainly doesn't like dealing with the public. There is another guy (can't remember his name) but he was really creepy, he kept making cocktails for the young girls round the pool or in the foyer of a night time, these drinks were just getting wasted as the girls didn't want alcoholic drinks in the day and didn't like them. He would refer to us woman as "baby", he really was creepy so be warned!!
I found Guest Relations to be extremely helpful, the two girls were lovely as was the guy in the old hotel. Sada is a lovely girl and always smiling.
We were red bands and other guests were blue bands, so we asked what the difference was, we were told red was VIP. I have no clue what that gave us that was extra as there was no difference what so ever with our friends apart from we had a bath, robe and slippers!!
Overall the hotel is nice and clean, the staff are mostly lovely with exception of the bar staff, the food is edible but could be nicer if hot and the rooms are fab. I would stay here again, but I'd make sure it's during a Turkish festival.
