“Good But Could Be Better”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2011

My Hubby and I have just returned from a fortnights' holiday at the Zeynep Golf and Spa Resort. We were in the new hotel where the bedrooms are lovely and spacious with fabulous bathrooms consisting of full size bath and large walk in showers with overhead and side shower heads. We were provided with robes and slippers too.
Each room have their own safe and mini bar, the mini bar is stocked every day with water, fruit juice, coke and fanta. There is also nice flat screen telly's provided but not many English speaking channels, although we don't come on holiday to watch the telly so it was no big deal.

On our first week at the hotel it was a Turkish festival, so the food was of a higher standard than the second week. I feel this is common practice in Turkey as we've encountered this many times. I don't agree that it's justifiable as if it wasn't for the "foreign" guests these hotels wouldn't survive with the Turkish alone, so I really think this should be addressed. The food was ok, but never really hot, even if you entered the dining room first, this might have something to do with the Chefs putting the food out at 5.45pm (I watched them do this from the foyer on the second week) yet the dining room isn't open for guests until approx 6.45pm so the food has loose heat.

There were two a la carte restaurants open while we were there. The French one was lovely, with nice friendly staff. They serve a 5 course meal and expect you to buy your wine, which was much nicer than the house wine and not very expensive, it ranged from £20 upwards. We were fortunate enough to use this restaurant twice each week as the hotel was quieter than peak season. We also used the Chinese twice and although it's nice, it's nothing like Chinese at home, we got served deep fried prawns with batter as a starter, this sounds lovely, but they left the shell, tail and head on, quite uneatable to be honest. I would advise the chef to remove the head and shell. Apart from that, the food was nice.
The entertainment at the hotel is just your usual Turkish entertainment. A guy singing in the foyer, which the German guests love as they dance the night away. The rest of the entertainment was a lot to be desired. If it wasn't for Nego I'd say the entertainment team are non existant. Nego however, was very friendly with the guests and made a point in asking the older people up to dance ect, the others were only interested in the younger woman.
The bar staff were a strange lot, they didn't appear to enjoy their job and looked miserable, especially Damla, she is so rude to the customers, I would suggest she gets a background job as she certainly doesn't like dealing with the public. There is another guy (can't remember his name) but he was really creepy, he kept making cocktails for the young girls round the pool or in the foyer of a night time, these drinks were just getting wasted as the girls didn't want alcoholic drinks in the day and didn't like them. He would refer to us woman as "baby", he really was creepy so be warned!!

I found Guest Relations to be extremely helpful, the two girls were lovely as was the guy in the old hotel. Sada is a lovely girl and always smiling.
We were red bands and other guests were blue bands, so we asked what the difference was, we were told red was VIP. I have no clue what that gave us that was extra as there was no difference what so ever with our friends apart from we had a bath, robe and slippers!!
Overall the hotel is nice and clean, the staff are mostly lovely with exception of the bar staff, the food is edible but could be nicer if hot and the rooms are fab. I would stay here again, but I'd make sure it's during a Turkish festival.

Room Tip: We loved the rooms in the new hotel, we were on the 4th floor and had a sea view (over the trees...

Don't Stay at this resort if you are looking for good quality food or hospitality becasue you will not get it
Our Air conditioning didn't work for our stay after asking several times we just gave up asking we asked for a kettle and tea for mornings and got told they don't do it !!! When you ask the reception for help they just look at you and are very condesending they didn't even know whetther there was a bus station in Belek !!! they where so so unhelpful
The food was not very good at all they where shutting down one part of the hotel for the winter so had twice as many guests in one hotel in the rstaurant as they shut down the other kitchen i presume The food was cold including the soup etc the only hot thing was the toast !!! We will never go back to this hotel also it is NOT a golf hotel at all you have to walk half a mile to the main gate to the golf club there was also a bad smell of sewerage from the bathroom the shower took hours to drain out we went to have food at the burger bar for a snack the person in there had to stop smoking before he served us !!!!! we told him not to worry !!! Don't Stay Here
WE WILL NOT STAY HERE AGAIN

Room Tip: Don't go there in the first place

Dear Sir/Madam

In our hotel the air conditioning system is controlled manually
directly in the rooms, but if the balcony doors are not closed well
the air conditioning will not work, due to energy saving.

According to our AI standards we don't serve hot drink set up to the
rooms. This is room service which is charged extra and can be arranged trough our reception.

Receptionists should know where the bus station to Belek is, or alternatively our Guests Relations department is ready to help you with any questions during your stay.

The food at the hotel is being prepared for the taste of all our
guests from all over Europe. We have a menu fortnightly and every
day a different buffet selection at the main restaurant. Three times in a week we have special events in the main restaurant, and we have two a la carte restaurants during the winter time.

During the winter time some parts of the restaurant on the complex are closed.

At the golf hotel we have 350 beds capacity and the main restaurant of the golf hotel has 360 seats plus 50 seats French a la carte restaurant and 20 Chinese, therefore there should not be a problem to find a place to sit. We have a heating system at the food buffets to keep them warm and working properly, but if the lids are not closed, then unfortunately the food will get cold.

Our guests are very important to us, and Guest Relations are there to help with any problems you may encounter, whether they are large or small. It is unfortunate that you did not approach the Guest Relations staff so they could have addressed these issues, ensuring you enjoyed your holiday with us.

Kind regards

Your Zeynep Zolf Resort Team

great for a day or two and then you get sick of the same food, same staff, same drinks and worst of all the same music. They only have one cd and it gets boring after hearing it for two days. Burger bar by beach stinks of something weird. Awful smell of sewage by big pool. Staff very false and some just miserable. Many hidden dangers too. Couple of shots to prove it. Kids loved it but then they would they're not pay £3000. Not going back till I'm 60

Room Tip: Avoid back rooms. Engine of the hotal never stops

Myself and 12 other ladies just spent a week at the Zeynep on a golf break . We were in the new part of the hotel which was very quiet . We did venture over to the other part of the resort but it was very busy and not so peaceful .
The pool on our side of the resort was ok if very cold !
Food is plentiful and something for everyone , breakfast is particularly good .
The wine at the hotel is pretty awful , we just about managed to drink the red especially after we had persuaded the bar staff not to put it in the fridge ! The cocktails are very good with plenty to sample.
Hotel is mostly Germans and russians , be warned neither of these nationalities understand waiting their turn .
I experienced a Turkish bath and massage which was excellent . We manged to negotiate a good price as 4 of us went .
Only real niggle was that there is nowhere to sit in the evenings after dinner as where the entertainment is performed is the only seating area and soon fills up . Was too chilly to sit outside .
A La Carte Turkish and French restaurants were very good but the Chinese was really awful .
Local bus outside hotel 1.5 lira to nearest town . Worth a trip on Tuesday for the market as stuff is cheaper than shops where they obviously cater for rich russians . Make sure you haggle and take Euro's as its easier .

Room Tip: Stay in the golf resort if you like peace and quiet .

We stayed here in September 2011 for two weeks. We were in one of the bungalows which was fine and spacious, very clean and with a nice view of the Olympic pool. It was at the quiet end of the complex which was ideal for us. My only complaint about the bungalow itself would be the occasional slight smell of sewage in the room but it wasnt a huge deal.
The food here is excellent. Strangely, since this is a foreign country you are visiting, you wont get anything close to an English breakfast here. Best stay at home if thats an essential requirement of your holiday. Each meal had a vast choice and although some of it wasnt to our taste we always found something really nice. The restaurant in the old hotel has better food but is much much busier. In fact it can be a bit of a scrum at peak times. The new hotel restaurant is a lot quieter but doesnt have the same extensive choice of food. Depends on what mood you are in really. We had our full allocation of a'la cartes and found them to be pretty good.

Russians. Yes there are lots of them. For the most part they kept themselves to themselves. I didnt experience any of the rudeness others apparently have and you have to say, they look after their kids and keep them in line. They dont tend to get overly drunk at night. Its simply not a problem if you open your mind a bit. I'd far rather go on holiday to a place with lots of Russians than to a place with the Engurlund mob.

The pools are pretty good with lots of space around them and lots of sunbeds. We spent most of our time down at the golf resort pool simply because it was the quietest one.

Drinks are free, so if you get one you dont like, try another one. If you get one you do like, try another one. Its not rocket science and we found plenty that we liked and tried several times. I have a little problem drinking draft Efes. It doesnt do my stomach any favours. But they had Becks in the Golf resort bar and if not there was plenty of cocktail and spirit choice.

All in all our holiday was pretty damn good. The resort and the food and drink were excellent and the value for money was superb. We would go back if the value for money remains the same.

Okay, one downside, and its quite a big one for me. The staff. In the whole fortnight, I'd say we met 3 staff members who's standard of care and service was acceptable,in fact they really shone. The rest ranged from uninterested to downright rude at times. I think there's a real staff morale problem here which needs to be fixed because it did spoil things slightly

Overall I'd highly recommend the Zeynep.
