Amazing luxury with inconsistent service

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 4 Nov 2014via mobile
Amazing animation team made a great holiday. All the team great with Roman a really special guy. Great hotel also for those who want to relax. Service either great or poor. Reception generally rude and unhelpful by far the worst department. Bell boys great, restaurant mainly good but some rude waiters.
Guest relations mixed attitude.
WORST PART - water park closed 5 days early than advertised by thomas cook here and by the park bumph there. Nobody seemed to tske responsibility and It was a big blow to my 13 year old but still
The holiday was fun

We stayed at Rixos Premium Belek several times and it was the first time in November since renovations.

I think the rooms were poorly renovated. Marble floors were an issue for our 2 young boys where they slipped a few times after shower. The rooms were not cleaned properly and we had a few occasions where we spotted dirty sheets after they were changed!! Rooms were generally cleaned in late afternoon which did not suit us as it was the nap time for our boys.

The service in the breakfast area was very bad except for a few waiters/waitresses. In some instances they were very unfriendly when we requested our tea in glasses rather than mugs. The fruits were badly washed and were sometimes with mud on them.

Entertainment was non-existed except for a fee dart tournaments and seldom pool competitions. Rixy club was near as good as it was in 2013.

Overall, I cannot recommend this hotel and will not be going back again.

Went last October2013 for half term , and memories are still good.overall had a good time although the place is massive and a lot of walking involved .lots of themed bars and good food as well.impressive building and hard working staff.Unfortunately the impressive water park was closed but the dolphin show was a good feature .would I go again?........probably if I had a good deal and if the water park was open

Room tip: Stayed in the bungalows but was quite a distance from the main area

Stayed with family on 28th October. We were booked in for 4 nights but changed the hotel after 2 nights due to reasons below.

The hotel was outstanding, rooms very well re-decorated, the grounds absolutely stunning. Food - one of the best I have ever had (and I am a hotel operator myself). So why did we change hotels after 2 nights if everything was so wonderful?

We were disappointed that the hotel had started to go into winter mode from middle of October despite their factsheet saying that Summer Concept was till 7th November 2014. A number of A'la Carte restaurants were closed which really didn't bother me because the buffet was absolutely amazing. However what did bother me was that the Food Court was also closed. The snacks were very limited (burger or cheeseburger) and only served for a couple of hours. No doner kebab, no fruit around the pool etc etc. No show in the evening.

We shifted to Delphin Imperial in Lara. The Delphin didn't compare in standards to the Rixos but all the facilities were open. The hotel was buzzing as the facilities were open. They had a proper snack menu, proper drinks service around the pool. Rixos was a premium hotel but no service around the pools etc. Everything about it is quality but it lacked the atmosphere due to going into winter mode. The food at the buffet at the Delphin Imperial was no way near the quality (or variety) as that at the Rixos.

Will we stay again? Yes but not in October half-term (or April). The hotel really needs to be clear about the summer concept and winter concept dates. We were disappointed because we expected everything to be open as per their factsheet.

The waterspouts were extremely expensive at the Rixos as compared to Delphin Imperial. I know that this is a third party provider but still. Jet Ski was 50 euros as compared to 30 Euros at Delphin Imperial. Parasailing for 2 people 150 Euros (as compared to 65 Euros at Delphin Imperial).

Nevertheless truly enjoyed our 2 night stay and hopefully will be back at the Rixos.

Room tip: Seaview room definitely worth the upgrade

We have stayed here several times before, since then the rooms have been renovated. Personally we preferred them before. The standard of refurbishment is not as high as it should be and there are really silly oversights like a marble piece of floor running along the length of the bedroom abutting carpet - sharp edges on feet and the stone easily get slippery. The bathrooms have been replaced by a "sliding walls" configuration meaning the room can be opened up totally. On the down-side this meant the whole room got steamy as the steam from the bathroom couldn't be sealed in. The big baths have also been replaced by a horrible dingy shower cubicle which reminded us of school swimming lessons!! It was dark and easily became slippery and the water from the shower flooded the bathroom from under the cubicle door. Please bring back a few baths!
The rest of the hotel is as ever, great pool, huge beach, nice staff, cafe serving cakes, coffee etc of your choice and the outdoor snack area is immense with loads of variety. The restaurant is of epic proportions, absolutely huge with so many dishes on offer it was impossible to try them all in two weeks! Dishes also change daily. Waiting staff vary enormously some are fantastic others clueless - a bit more training for some would benefit the hotel.
The entertainment programmes in the evening has definitely deteriorated from previous years and apart from many of the shows being quite poor, the post show events never quite hit the mark. Monotonous music with nothing really happening. The hotel would be better to vary the location between the many bars on different evenings and have a bit more variety of music etc. Not so much a problem, but did get a bit boring and there is certainly room for the hotel to improve on this.
One note to bear in mind for the disabled traveller ( I was in a wheelchair) the concept of disabled facilities has not properly reached the Rixos. Several of the disabled loos are literally too small to even get your wheelchair in, let alone go to the loo, and were big enough to adequately manoeuvre the chair this was made impossible as the loos are used as a storage area for the cleaning equipment trolleys. Things like disabled height sinks and handrails are also missing.
I found this more of an inconvenience rather than a huge problem, but I do have mobility so could manage. Where I was having problems getting around -ramps too narrow the staff were always immediately to my rescue which is a credit to them.
There are many a la carte restaurants, the ones we tried were good with lovely service - it s a shame however that some of these have now become chargeable as a supplement.
I have always loved the Rixos but having no baths put my who family off (We hate showers total bath fans)- something such a silly thing to miss out in a luxury hotel.

Room tip: Overlook the dancing waters!

It was a nice, may be too big hotel recently renovated, having a very good location.Rooms were very modern and comfortable, but the cleaning of the rooms was not always well done and sometimes late afternoon.
They were advertizing free wifi, but actually only one device could be connected free of charge.
Restorans were nice, lot of good food, everything was served including coffee. It was difficult to explain that I like strong black coffee, mostly I got warm dark liquid. In such a huge place there could be a coffee machine from were you take your drink yourself.
Beach was nice, friendly service.

Room tip: Take a room with sea view
