“Fabulous Five Star Family Hotel”
Reviewed 9 August 2010

From check in, to check out, 14 days later, our stay at the Papillon Zeugma was exceptional. This imposing Hotel is brilliantly run and maintained, the staff in all areas are fantastic, wonderfully lead by Baris Becerik, the Guest Relations Manager, who simply couldn’t do enough to make our stay so memorable.
The Rooms, Public Areas, Bars, Restaurants, Pools, Gardens were cleanliness personified, even the sand on the beach is continuously cleaned and rolled, the attention to detail is never ending.

Our two sons of 15 & 8 were completely bowled over by the place, with almost too much to occupy them, the Animation Teams providing a constant stream of activities and games. The watersports centre on the beach was great with good kit, with free Windsurfing ( as long as you have a certificate of competence) canoes, the dreaded pedaloes and also Water Skiing, Wakeboarding, Parasailing,, Jet Skis etc, which you had to pay for. The beach volley ball was very competitive, the Russians especially taking it very seriously, but they were very funny after the game and it was great way of meeting people, a father and daughter from Siberia told me there was a 80 degree difference in temp between Belek, 40C when we played and minus 40C in their winter!. A short walk up the beach to the sister Aisha Hotel also had a pier which was great for diving and jumping off.

The food was of a very high quality, the main restaurant was a buffet which offered a stupendous selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the choices and the displays were overwhelming and almost an art form, all constantly managed by the various Chefs to ensure everything was top notch, they were justifiably very proud of their work and were very approachable if you were unsure of a particular dish. The Ala Carte restaurants were, if anything, even better, our favourite, The Orchard Room, prided itself on unflustered service of exceptional Mediterranean food, the chocolate soufflé in particular, is a wonderful dish. The Green Garden ( Turkish) , The Turquoise (Fish), The Mexican and the Chinese all provided excellent quality food in lovely locations. In the mornings staff brought round little thirst quenchers and were always on hand to serve whatever drinks you required, in the afternoons started with home made ice cream and finished with fresh doughnuts with chocolate sauce. You could put serious amounts of weight on very quickly indeed!

The evening entertainment in the open air bowl was great fun, even if some of the plot lines were slightly strange, couldn’t remember a baby cropping up in Mama Mia! and Aladdin with songs from West Side Story?. The in house dance troupe were very good and the overall spectacle and lighting was first class and the rendition of the “Club Song” was infectious.

For my family, the one thing above all others which made our stay so memorable were the staff, who are simply outstanding, courteous, efficient and most of all fun, it was a fabulous experience and one I wouldn’t hesitate of recommending to anyone.

This was our third visit to the Papillon Zeugma and it without doubt the best "Beach" Hotel, of this class, that we have visited. We travelled with our two children aged 15 and 11 and stayed in a duplex apartment room with 2 bathrooms and stairs separating the two bedrooms, which was excellent, hugely spacious and cleaned thoroughly every day. The 2 fridges in the apartment were refilled daily with cans of pop, beer, water, biscuits and sweets.
The food in the hotel is of very good quality and you can choose from the vast buffet restaurant, where chefs cook fresh produce out on the veranda or for a more relaxing experience (in my view) you can book into one of the 5 restaurants in the hotel. A coffee shop serving a huge variety of drinks, cakes and sandwiches is also available. There are numerous options for lunch!
I think one of the most outstanding features of the hotel is the staff. From the Managers to the young people who serve or entertain you throughout your stay (animation team). They work so hard and do this with genuine smiles and enthusiasm. The animation team ensured that the children were involved in everything and they really made the holiday for them.
The hotel is situated on the beach with ample sunbeds or you may choose from a range of pools around the hotel. The hotel is on a strip of similar 5* plus hotels and I think it is important to point out that visiting these other hotels, either for a go on their slide or a swim in their pool, is strictly not permitted and security in all these hotels ensure that this does not take place.
Belek town is a short taxi ride up the road but I did not venture out from the hotel as everything you need is catered for on site and the town is not particularly pretty! Although I believe that it is cheaper to book excursions in town than through the hotel.
I have booked other 5* All inclusive hotels in Turkey and although they were good all of the family agree that the extra money we paid for the Papillon Zeugma 5* Ultra All Inclusive was worth every penny and hopefully we wil return again soon.

we stayed 10 days at zeugma, with my wife and 2 kids age 4,6. I can easily say that this was the best hoilday we had, the kids were so happy, we had to extend our stay for 3 more days.the mini club was unreal! we have hardly seen the kids, the entertainment for them was magnificient, the food, the service, room service, the pools and the beach was to very high standards. the entertainment team members were so energetic and full of fun, the hotel overall, made me say that "could this get any better", we will be back there at the first opportunity, if you visit the hotel, look for Baris, Efe, mini club girls Burcu, Gizem and others, a must see specially with young children...

Visited last year and were blown away by the standard of the food, service, facilities, cleanliness so the decision to return was an easy one.
If you are used to the standard of 5* on Canaries, Majorca and similar then you are in for a very pleasant surprise. You will not be "taken for granted" as a trapped tourist and the staff's attempts to meet your needs and make your stay a pleasant one appear genuine.

The excellent: Buffet restaurant with it's two "themed nights". Food is exceptional. We also tried the Turkish and Mediteranian a La Carte restaurants and they were fantastic.
We also noticed this year that the standard of the outside restaurants has improved vastly. If you have fussy kids don't worry. At lunch you can get pancakes, jacket spuds, pizzas, chicken and chips, pasta, burgers and on and on. Just take it from one with a very fussy nine year old - food quality and choice is not going to be an issue. I haven't even touched upon the buffet restauuant at lunch time, or the daily ice creams, doughnuts and themed once weekly afternoon Turkish Fair (for fair read feast). 11 days and three kilos heavier - and I played golf and went running!

Service - generally excellent. Pools - excellent. Sunbeds around pool and beach - excellent. Spa area - get a hamam (Euro 45) to start your hols. And get a hair cut and shave in the hairdresser on the ground floor (Euro 20). Okay I can get my hair cut three times for this back in UK but go and see how it should be done - fantastic.

The "animation team" try very hard and the standard of some of the shows were excellent. Don't be put off if the show is a production by the team and not an imported act - some are a real laugh.

The perfect bar is the one near reception which is the posh one and the Brits seem to visit before dinner and after the 2130hrs show to sit in the super air conitioned room or on the balcony and sink a cocktail or G&T, Turkish tea or coffee. Look at the menu and consider where else in an "all inclusive" could you get these brands of alcohol without paying. My drinking days are over but even the Chivas Regal is free - how do they do it?

Rooms - getting tired and it depends where you are. We rejected our first room as the carpet was v stained, balcony looked inland and had wobbly rail and we knew from last year that some rroms overlooked the "quiet" pool area and some were much cleaner. Changed without question but our welcome wine, fruit didn't get moved and we only had two towels for a couple of days. Mentioned this to Guest relations Manager Baris BECERIK as we were eating lunch - he introduced himself and enquired how everything was. He was cleary disappointed and very apologetic. We finished our meal and returned to our room and found ourselves tripping over towels, bowls of fruit and we could only just close the fridge due to the amout of beer, water and cold drinks. Can't ask for more than that - the man is a complete star.

The "not excellent" areas: - pool room/bowling area and kids amusement/arcade room. Clearly under the mamagement of someone else and best avoided. Just grotty compared with elsewhere.
Big disappointment is the gym. For very little outlay the Hotel could get several CV machines and some resistance machines from Lifecycle or Technogym or similar on contract hire. The standard of the kit in there is poor and really is a major disappointment at an establishment such as this. Could so easily be put right and would attract more guests. I use a gym 6 days a week at home but went running instead this year at Zeugma so that speaks for itself.

Photographers can be a pain - but then their product is excellent. Guys who look after the water sport area on the beach are very financially motivated but as long as you are wary and nail on prices first they are fair enough.

Got an ear infection (probably from the pool) and saw the Hotel Doctor who sent me immediately to the ENT Dept at the nearby hospital and I got treated and then taken via a Pharmacy to pick up the antibiotics back to the Hotel all within a couple of hours. It cost (Euro 330) but this will get claimed back on my insurance and the treatment was excellent. Just ensure you have a credit/debit card for such emergencies.

I played the affiliated Montgomerie Course three times early morning. Book through Bilyana Golf - it's actually cheaper that at the hotel! Euro 135 for three rounds (this course charges110 per round in high season). Treat yourself. Classy holiday golf course.

I could write for hours but your best bet is to stop worrying, start saving and get yourself to the Papillon Zeugma for a week or so with your family. It is really very, very good.

last year we stayed at Papillon Zeugma in June and had such a great holiday we went back in September. this time we visited with our extended family and once again were not disappointed.
The service was great, Belkis Restaurant (buffet) a little slow sometimes - but does it really matter when you;re on holiday anyway. The service in the Turkish (green) restaurant was superb, what a great team they were, food in this restaurant was also excellent. service at the pool bar at lunchtimes was also excellent - (same manager at both - so very good at his job!). Lobby bar was once again lovely for a late night drink, and service excellent
The food everywhere was excellent - so much choice, there were 8 of us and we all felt spoilt by the choices available.
Animation team were great once again, and the activities offered excellent (didnt join in much beyond boules and water aerobics as too lazy!). the evening shows were good, if you have kids they will love them.
The pools are great - the animation pool never feels too busy and the quiet pool is lovely.
Improvements this year - the new balcony area in restaurant which creates a shade over the baby pool - really good idea as kids can play in the shallow pool and on the small slide without having to worry about sun.
the rooms were as previously cleaned to a very high standard and the cleaning staff smiley and helpful.
I have seen complaints about the staff not speaking English, but actually all the animation staff speak very good English, as do the Customer Relations and Reception staff. Most of the waiting staff spoke some English, ok not as good as the other hotel staff, but so what!, when people from Turkey/Greece etc visit London or elsewhere in the UK would our waiters speak their language!, with a little perseverence and smiling we all managed to understand one another.
This is a great hotel and I would recommend it to families particularly

If you have young children, the mini-club and their staff is absolutely amazing! 10:00-12:30, 14:30-17:30, children's buffet dinner 19:00 followed by mini disco 20:30-21:00. Great variety of activities. Our children wanted to be nowhere else!
For the adults, make sure to book (at 10:00 am) one of the different a la carte restaurants for the evening. The wine-list is OK, so you can buy yourself a nice bottle of wine instead of suffering with the free Turkish wines... The large buffet is not very good.
Overall great staff and good facilities. The evening shows, where some of the hotel staff is starring in, are also very nice.

We arrived at the hotel about 10pm and the booking in procedure was very prompt and efficient. We were asked if we all wanted drinks. Our room was very spacious and tidy and one of the largest family rooms I have ever stayed in. The bathroom was very spacious and the mini bar was stocked with a variety of drinks every day.
The food was great and lots of variety in the main restaurant sometimes service was a bit slow but hey we're on holiday with all the time in the world. The a la carte restaurants were fanastic with five to choose from and you could go as many times as you wanted. Just need to book these before 10 am - sometimes hard to get through on the phone to them but no big deal.
Great animation team who did not pester you at all but always made you aware of what was going on during the day.
Pools were great and clean - our children loved the slides and also the quiet pool.
Ice creams availiable for 2 hours everyday and once this finished the doughnuts began - sooooo delicious. Waiter service by the pool if required.
Night entertainment was excellent - our children could not wait each night to sit and watch the show - again waiter service came round to your table while the show was on to take your drinks order.Brought all nationalities together. Nice class of people - no loud mouthed louts shouting and taking over the pool.
We have never been to a hotel where so many people were revisiting this hotel again on their second/third time and I can now understand why. I can safely say that we would recommend this hotel to our friends and have done so already - I have never got home to feel so strongly about putting a review on trip advisor as I did when I got home after this holiday - Excellent place, staff who are permanently helpful and dedicated to their jobs - well done Hotel Papillion Zeugma keep up the good work you made our holiday the best.
