“VERY NICE HOTEL GOOD FOOD”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2010

We had a nice time at this hotel ,we arrived in the evening, the staff were frendly and we had drinks and food ,before going to how room ,we were given a ground floor bunglow ,it was fine .but my husband asked to move to a upstairs room ,and they moved us to room 2010 it was very peaceful ,and near everything but not so close to keep you awake. This place was really clean ,the staff worked really hard ,and the maids were lovely ,always a smile and wave and honest ,i left some of my belongings in the first room and didnt realise but they left them in my new room,we had three days of sun and the rest of our week was cloudy ,but we still enjoyed it my son made friends and we didnt see much of him ,his 14 but said when can we go back and my husband had a laugh with the shop people trying to barter them down [all good fun]we got some nice things ,and made freinds too ,it was mostly german and french some english ,but we didnt have any problems ,everyone was just doing there own thing,we had freinds with us and they also had a nice time ,the only thing i would have liked was ,in other reviews there were beach partys and foam etc but we only had shows ,and i think thats because it was the end of oct ,otherwise all i can say is thanks papillon for a nice time

Papillon Belvil was probably one of the best hotels i have been to. We got there and was driven to our room in a golf buggy which was fun, room service everyday. The rooms had a mini-bar in it with drinks. The pools where great, sea was surprisingly warm and the place had great entertainment every night at the amphitheatre at 21:15. Had fun playing volley ball with people from England,France,Germany,Russia,Czech Republic and Turkey. The food was great (24/7). The bars had great cocktails for kids and adults, The only downside was that there was alot of wasps, the pool water was cold and if you're allergic to them...lots of cats. But other than that brilliant... forgot to mention the games room with pool, russian billiards, air hockey and others games, the spa with sauna and hamam and the boiling indor pool.

We've stayed one week at the Papillon Belvil in October This hotel - resort in fact - is part of the Papillon hotels group which has 5 other hotels near Belek.

The location, near Kadrye, is the temple of resorts : if you check on any map, you will realize that there are plenty of such resorts all around. The city nearby, Kadrye, is accessible by Dolmus - local bus - for EUR 1.5 TRY (0.75 EUR) in 10 mins. Unfortunately, nothing really interesting to see there, excepting maybe the local market every Tuesday.

Now, about the place itself : this resort has about 500 rooms (divided between 150 hotel rooms, and 350 "Villas", which are small apartments). Villa rooms are ok, would maybe need to be refreshed a bit.. but always very well cleaned ! The walls are a bit thin....

Everything is in the middle of a huge garden, and I can say that the gardeners are doing a very good job : nice flowers & palmtrees everywhere, lot of trees, grass etc. When you are in your flat, and you look out through the windows, you don't see a wall, but trees ..

A couple of swimming pools are available - a main one, another one for kids with slides, and even a small one indoor.
You won't miss your beach chair, since there are about 200 near the pools, and 500 on the beach. The beach is made of sand, and a lifeguard is often on duty.
The water sports team offers to use canoes for free, and many other activities.
Extras : a spa is available, an internet café as well, few small shops ..

The service is very good : people are pleasant, and even though they don't speek very fluently any other language than turkish, they always try to speak in your own language.
The food is very good, I would even say exceptionnally good for this type of resort. Plenty of choice (for both food & drinks), the food quality if very high, and of course, since you are in an all-inclusive place, you can eat & drink 24/7, including in your room's minibar...
A few specialties restaurant are available as well, depending on weekdays, an upon subscription : Chinese, Turkish, Mexican, Itialian. All are included, and be prepared since they serve individually a lot of food.

This resort is mainly frequented by people from Germany, Russia and England, with families. People are quite respectful of the place, so it keeps quite clean.
The nightly events & show are ok (for families), even though the multi-language context make them look sometimes funny (translation in 5 or 6 languages ...)

The excursions nearby would be Antalya (main city 800 000 people), and ancient places like Perge (one day trips).

Overall, this is a nice place (food, service, location, beach). The only con, as usual in such place, is what neighbours will you get (we had to change room once - not a problem at all, staff was very accomodating - because our neighbours were switching on the TV very loud at 3 in the morning ..).

We travel a lot and book the hotels in various foreign companies ourselves. This year, we have discovered travelling Turkey without the Travel Agency. In May, we have spent great time at the IC SANTAI hotel which we have booked through Holidayhotels.com. In September, we decided to go to another hotel and chose the Papillon Belvil hotel! As it turned out - in vain!

We booked the hotel online at www.hotels4u.com, received the vouchers and invoices and started waiting for the vacation. On September 14, we - 5 adults, 2 children and our grandmother, arrived at the Papillon Belleville! And then the problems started, in which, even now, me, who has lived through all this, I can not believe in!

We have had 3 paid (3 months before the arrival) vouchers for 3 rooms at the Papillon Belvil in our hands, but the hotel administration refused to settle us, and stated that we will have to pay $ 3,600! And that's because we have booked the rooms on the British web-site and we are not residents of the UK! Racism, which takes place only in the Turkish system of rotten relationships among Tour Operator - Hotel - Customer! The situation was humiliating to the extreme! You are a regular customer, booking in the usual web-site where there are no restrictions to other countries and suddenly, the hotel says it has some kind of a contract with someone! It turned out that we - the citizens of Kazakhstan, (probably they had in mind that we are a 3rd grade people) and we have no right to have rest organized by the British company! We were given a paper from the Thomas Cook company, where it was said that the company Hotels4u.com is a part of their group and there is a postscript on the Thomas Cook website, that the prices are only valid for the residents of the UK and we were supposed to know about it!

But we have booked it on Hotels4u.com and why do we have to look through other web sites??? The Hotels4u.com web-site itself has no such restrictions! Nobody has warned us about nothing! A spokesman for Thomas Cook had appeared at the Papillon Belvil from nowhere, but she did not help us at all. Our communication was similar to the communication between a tax inspector and tax payer! I’ve asked: - What can we do? And she said - Pay! And that what we have received instead of solving this problem between the hotel and the company issuing the voucher in a civilized manner! The Papillon Belleville had no wish to turn towards their clients and just took money from us without a shadow of embarrassment! We had no choice! Where could we have gone with 2 children and grandmother, who could barely walk! After 5 hours of waiting and wrangling they pushed us to the most remote and inconvenient rooms and do not even remember what we came for the second time and have small privileges! But this is all trivia compared to the story in which one side covers the other, and an innocent customer pays, because there is no other way! So be afraid of such dishonest hotel, where all the blame for someone else's irresponsibility will lie on you! Conversation with the Hotels4u.com web-site manager had also led to nothing. We were told to write a complaint! And MAYBE we will refund your money! Now we are having an examination towards the administration of Hotels4u.com and if they do not solve the problem and not pay us money, we will sue them!

Our family of three stayed in the Belvil for 10 days in late September. It’s clearly a family-oriented hotel; most guests were couples with kids up to 7 y.o. and even infants. People looking for a quiet (or romantic) holiday may found it too noisy.

We have booked a bungalow and weren’t disappointed. While the rooms in the main building are larger, bungalow was quite comfortable and in a quiet location. No noise in the room even with the balcony window open at night. Air conditioner was ancient but worked fine. Hotel area is very large and it’s a few minutes walk from bungalow to the beach or restaurant. Room was clean, furniture old but functional, - no complaints.

Restaurant was always busy and it presented some problems to waiters; sometimes I even had to fetch tableware myself. Food was fine, lot of choice but nothing fancy. My only complains were: coffee on breakfast and lunch (instant type) and juices (also of some instant type). On Turkish nights they offered great coffee! On our last day we have discovered espresso and Turkish coffee machines in the small restaurant that’s open after lunch. Recommended.

Pool bar served fine cocktails (alcoholic and kids stuff). Beer was OK, at least served cold. Eating donuts by the pool were our daily 5 p.m. routine.

Never booked a-la-carte restaurants so can’t comment on them.

Pools were very good, large, warm water. We have however stayed mostly on the beach but occasionally used kids pool and had fun on waterslides.

Beach and the sea were fantastic! I especially liked the big sunshades. Beach is clean, there are plenty of sunbeds. First line of sunbeds is usually occupied by 8 a.m. but we never had problems finding empty ones on the second line. Having walked up and down the beach for some time I can say that Belvil’s beach is the best one around.

The hotel area is basically one big garden and it is very well kept. Gardeners can be seen at work all day and they are really working hard. Just see the pictures.

We have seen a few people complaining of stomach illness, I even ran into the group meeting mentioned in earlier review by Chris and was honestly surprised to hear about all this. However, none of us or our friends or kids that our children played with on the beach contracted it, so I hope it was just an incident.

Also never had any problem with language barrier – most staff speaks Russian and English. Most staff were very friendly and helpful. Free WiFi in the lobby worked fine, Skype was working.

All in all – fine hotel, but if you are the type that always on lookout for minor imperfections you won’t be disappointed.

Just like to agree with all the other positive reviews on here and say I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Papillon Belvill. Great variety of food, very clean hotel and beach and very attentive polite staff (who can all mostly speak 4 or 5 languages putting the majority of us Brits to shame)

Spent 11 nights at the Papillon and really enjoyed it. Hotel isn't too big which is a plus point. Beautiful gardens and whole hotel spotlessly clean. We had a bungalow (3940) which was actually a suite. Two bedrooms, double in one and twin beds in the other plus a living room. One downside was we were right at the back of the complex (although only a couple of minutes walk to the swimming pool so not a major problem) and we were at the top so had to go up two flights of stairs which wasn't the easiest with a buggy. Pools were great always got a sun bed where we wanted and didn't have to go down early however I can imagine in July/August it would be a different story. This hotel isn't for you if you want a hotel full of English as it is mainly Russian, Germans and French. However there were enough English families to speak too and the children to play with and we made some great friends. Lots of people have negative comments about the Russian's but we didn't experience any of that. In fact they join in all the activities and really enjoy themselves and are friendly. We found lunch at the pool bar the best meal of the day. As with all 'All Inclusive' hotels the evening buffet does get a little repetitive however there is enough variety to get something different. There are 5 A La Carte Restaurants however only 3 are open at once (not sure if this is different in the summer). However the booking system is a joke and even if you went down before 10am you weren't guaranteed a table. There is only limited capacity (approx. 50) for each restaurant and if people have birthdays/anniversaries they can book in advance. We ate in the Turkish, Italian and Mexican restaurants. Mexican was by far the best. Evening entertainment was really good and on a two week schedule. Some of the acrobatic performances were brilliant but the comedy nights, which the entertainment staff did, were also great. They put on special events like Oktoberfest which was really nice and great fun. Kids Club was brilliant and the staff amazing with the children – real variety. We had a late night flight and although we couldn’t keep our room on the hotel gave us another room (again a suite) that we could use and didn’t have to pay for. Overall a great 4* hotel that I would recommend to anyone with families.
