“It met my expectations but with minor improvement could be excellent”
Reviewed 29 May 2010

We arrived at the hotel in the early hours of the morning following a delayed flight. The We arrived at the hotel in the early hours of the morning following a delayed flight. The staff was pleasant and courteous and made the check in process quite bearable. On arrival in our room we noticed that we had a twin room rather than a double room, within 5 minutes a member of the house keeping team arrived to put the bed together and change all the bedding - I was impressed!
The rooms are very clean and off a good size for a hotel of this quality. The bath rooms have separate bath and shower cubicles with plenty of water to have a bath and shower simultaneously.
It is worth saying that the housekeeping services of this hotel are exceptional, and this is noticeable throughout the resort.
On a negative note service in the buffet restaurant can only be described as inconsistent, on several occasions we had to spend several minutes finding an available table with little assistance from the restaurant staff. This restaurant could be massively improved by simply being met on arrival and shown to available tables. Once seated the food was acceptable (I must qualify that I’m a bit of a gourmet foodie).
On 5 nights we experienced the hotel ala carte restaurants. Without going into too much detail the Italian and Turkish restaurants excelled, this was made more memorable by the head waiter’s tentative service and food recommendations. On a negative note the Mexican restaurant was disappointing, the menu wasn't like anything I've seen before; the main courses consisted of several types of meet being cut off a skewer at 5 minute intervals. This would have been improved with a few more potatoes (we were given 3 potatoes with the first meat and none with the others) and maybe some vegetables.
The hotels is all inclusive and to be honest it's difficult to spend any money other than the upgrade to the all inclusive restaurants 5 euros's per person which is worth every penny.
The staff at the pool bar was at times very poor, on occasions we waited 15 minutes to be served, and drinks never arrived more than once.
To conclude I would return to this hotel, and this is quite an accolade. Generally well done!

We stayed at Calista for 11 nights.
ROOM - We were in building 5, the room was fantastic. Plenty of space, large wardrobe & plenty of drawers. When we arrived a cot hadn't been set up for our daughter but within 5 minutes someone arrived with one. Loads of mirrors, which kept our daughter amused for hours. It was nice having snacks (crisps, nuts, chocolate) available in the mini bar, never seen that before in an all inclusive. They also provided us with cartons of milk. I also loved the fact there were robes & slippers in the room.
POOL - The pool was the cleanest I've ever seen, they cleaned it every single night without fail. It was nice having the gentle slope into the water but the water was too cold, there were quite a lot of people using the pool though. We tended to use the heated outdoor pool, which was perfect temperature. The indoor pool was also nice.
BUFFET RESTAURANT - the service was great. The waiters & waitresses couldn't do enough for us. They also provided plastic plates & bowls for the children, & pureed food for the babies. The food was lovely, lots of meat & vegetable dishes, not too many potato dishes though and what they did have wasn't very warm. The desserts were fab, I especially liked the orange sponge cake & the tiramisu on Italian night was fantastic. Breakfast was just as good, any type of egg you can think of, croissants, bagels, toast, cheese, lots of hot dishes, fruit, yoghurt... the list goes on. They have speciality nights 3 times a week, Italian on Tuesday, Seafood on Thursday & Turkish on Sunday. One thing we didn't realise until a couple of days before we were leaving was the outdoor cooking, we assumed that they were cooking the same as inside but infact there were plenty of fish & seafood dishes available.
POOL SNACKBAR - We had lunch here a few times, it's open until 4pm but if you want to eat after 4pm The Garden restaurant is open until 6pm. The food here was also very very nice. Salads & soup to start, with pasta, burgers, pizza, meat dishes for main course. We had a bit of a problem with this restaurants service. We seemed to be ingnored everytime, I think it was because they didn't know who was supposed to be serving what table. On one occasion we ordered a drink 4 times & it never arrived. Another time we ordered a pizza for my daughter and it never arrived, we ordered it again but by the time it arrived she'd already eaten a load of bread and didn't want to eat anything else. We also ordered a dessert & again it was forgotten about, so we had to re-order. This is only a small complaint, but it was very frustrating at the time.
ENTERTAINMENT - We only went to 1 show, which was OK, not really our thing. The mini disco was really good for the children, our daughter LOVED it, but only managed it a few times because she was already asleep by the time it started at 9pm. We were also lucky enough to be there during the hotels 3rd birthday party. They had a fantastic fireworks display, ice sculptures, champagne fountain, in an airport themed party.
KIDS ClUB - Our daughter is only 16 months old so not old enough to be in the kids club, however, there were plenty of activities for her to do. They had a mini playground which she loved & also a baby room (0-2 years) where there were plenty of toys for her to play with. They also had a cinema which showed cartoons, she enjoyed sitting in there for 10 minutes watching Tom & Jerry.
BEACH - The beach was OK, a bit rough under feet but with some beach shoes it was OK. Plenty of facilities though, showers, toilets & snack bar.

The only downside was in the middle of our holiday there was a conference, so the hotel was full. There were lots of children running around, causing mischief (swapping the soft & hard boiled eggs for example). This was obviously not a fault of the hotel but of the other guests themselves.

I'm sure I've missed loads out but we did have a brilliant time.

This is the best hotel I've ever been in. They have everything from Spa to an amazing beach!!! The service is awesome, eventhough some of them have problem understanding English. If you go there you'll enjoy an excellent stay. Sunshine and a beautiful arrangements. The rooms are cozy and clean. Super for golfers or tennisplayers. The pools have a good temperature and are clean aswell. You wanna go to turkey, definitely think of going to Belek, quite close to Antalya, and Calista!

My husband and I arrived in the early hours of the morning and immediately a member of staff was summoned to take our drinks order. The check in process was efficient and before we were taken to our room the receptionist asked if we would like to order anything from room service free of charge due to the late hour (normally a service charge of £9 for each order).
We were booked into a standard room which was by far the best standard of room we have ever stayed in on a package holiday. It was large with an extra large, comfortable bed, including a large armchair and footstool, desk and chairs and a vanity table. The bathroom was also large with quality fittings, a separate bath and excellent shower. Huge mirrors were a feature throughout the rooms.
We had taken our laptop and were able to connect to the hotel wifi free of charge. There was a mini bar which was stocked on a daily basis with water, Coke (the real thing), Fanta and Sprite and Carlsberg larger as well as crisps, nuts and a chocolate bar.
Beach towels are included and there were plenty of nice sunbeds with shades and mattresses. We never had a problem getting the beds we wanted but it was early in the season. The pool areas, gardens and beach are well cared for and spotlessly clean. There are numerous bars and placed to eat. The drinks are mainly international brands and are plentiful. Even though we sat only a few meters away from the pool bar we hardly ever had to make the effort to walk there to get our own drinks, waiters come round on a regular basis and there is even a mobile bar which tours the sunbeds. There is a bar at the end of the private pier and walking there and back was our daily exercise. Ice-cream is freely available throughout the day.
The hotel has numerous opportunities for activities if you so wish but we were there for complete relaxation so did not take advantage on these.
The food in the hotel is of high quality for an inclusive package. There was always a good choice both at lunch and dinner. Most of the food is kept hot very well, the only exception to this was, for some reason, the potato choices, they always seemed to be just warm (although to be fair this is a very, very tiny criticism). The evening choices included entrees (little bits of things in small dishes and on large spoons), starters including soup, salad, prawn and smoked salmon dishes etc, a range of meat and vegetarian dishes with various vegetables, pasta and rice, a wide range of deserts and an abundance of fresh fruit, including strawberries and cream which went down a bomb with the other guests. (I did ask my husband at one point if they didn’t have strawberries in Russia or Germany)
There are also a la carte restaurants which have a £9 booking fee but we were happy in the main restaurant making our own pick and mix choices.
We arrived on the 28th of April and the hotel evening entertainment does not start until the 1st of May. What we saw was of good quality compared to other places we have been with mainly professional acts. The main act is in the outdoor theatre followed by a live band in the pool bar. This is then followed by a late night disco (I don’t know what this was like as I was never awake that late).
The hotel does not get a large number of English guests, but this doesn’t bother us, there are a large number of Germans but the bulk of guests are obviously well off Russians. We had great fun spotting the Louis Vuitton beach bags and accessories, Chanel sunglasses and bikinis, Armarni jeans, and so on.
We thoroughly enjoyed out stay at the Calista and would definitely recommend it; we are going to try to go back again next year.
