“nice family rooms - okay food - felt a bit stranded!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 March 2011

Overall the hotel is of a good standard. Our 2nd trip to turkey the last was a villa holiday. I used to work for BA so have travelled extensivly around the world and stayed in many 5 star hotels, Dubai is the best for quality hotels but its very fake so decided to try Turkey for a but more culture and now that we have 3 little ones (1,5,7) the cost of our holidays have some what increased! Now as our kids are young they dont tend to stay in there own beds so we wanted the option of 2 king beds and an extra bed in case we had to share with them, which we did. the family room was excellent. we ended up with a king bed and a small put up bed along side in one room and the interconnecting room had 2 large singles pushed together and a queen sized sofa bed, all made up with lovely soft sheets, pillows and duvets. There where teddie bears, bathrobes and slippers for the kids, little girl toiletires and colouring packs to play with, we managed to get hold of some bear back packs for free aswell, brilliant extra touches.
The down side of the hotel - the restaurant was bland and boring, the kids food was school canteen style, not very inspiring. The choice was okay, i wasnt over inspired by their themed nights. The turkish restaurant was very good, loved the food and the service was excellent, but we paid extra to eat there. There is a good italian pizza/snack restaurant which serves nice lunch. One thing that really got to me was the ice cream service. its only open for an hour or so in the afternoon so you cant get ice cream when you want. The kids club was cold and clinical, staff looked uninterested. we left our elder 2 there for 2 hours (1 yr old too young) and i liked the fact you could see them on cctv in your room. Couldnt swim in the pool, it was feezing and only saw a few people dare! there was no entertainment except the odd tune from the foyer piano.
We where ill and the doctor had to be called out, they where pretty responsive but my husband had to go to belek to get the prescription! the staff didnt ask us how we where, or if we needed anything, i felt like no one cared and when i got some strength back i told them how disapointed i was, just got blank looks and was told it was quite as the season was coming to an end. - yes but i was paying for the whole service!
over all i would not stay here again as there are lots more choices but the sleeping arangement where the best ive experinced so if you can put up with plain food and cold swimming pools out of season then this is good for families. Belek was awful, no real culture there!
will try antalya next time or Dalaman. would prefer Dubai Al Qasr/royal mirage any day but its twice the price.

We spent a very relaxing holiday at the Ela Quality Resort in Belek. We didn't choose this hotel, but were evacuated from Egypt, because of the revoltion there. What a good choice from our toutoperator. The all in formula is fabulous : breakfast with sparkling wine, cocktails, wines, coffees, hors d'oeuvres, pastries etc. all day long! Tasty buffets at the restaurant even at midnight! Nice rooms,2 queen size beds, small terrace.
Very kind and helpful staff, luxurious atmosphere. What a pity that there is an invasion of some rude East European sport teams , especially in the fitness room.
Belek with many shops is a 25 min walk, Antalya is at 35 km. There is a bus connection every 30 min. We already visited Aspendos, Perge and Sagalassos.
Suitable for families with children. A lot of possibilities for golfers.

We spent a week in this hotel in the end of november. The weather was nice, even had a chance to swim in the sea.
The room was very spacious, we had two queen beds, one single bed, and one baby bed with pink girly sheets (we travelled with our 4 months old daughter) - and they call it standard room. They changed sheets every day.
Also they gave us a baby bath, chamber pot for baby and baby cosmetics.
The food was good, not sophisticated, but tasty. They made a BBQ party for lunch almost every day.
The spa is nice, turkish hammam and foam massage was just great, though the cosmetolog - I didn't really like her. All the saunas are just great!
The photographers are really nice, the price they ask is too high, but one can make a deal.

All the personnel was very nice and friendly.
Wifi is working good in all main building and around it.

It ought to have been great. Turkish hotel food of the year winner, luxury all-inclusive hotel.

Except under the superficially shiny skin, there lurked a massive outbreak of gastroenteritis, a disease that is only spread where hygiene is not up to scratch.

The hotel professes high standards of cleanliness, but look around you when you are there. Are surfaces regularly cleaned and disinfected? Do ungloved staff hands find their way into the buffet food? Do you see anyone wash their hands when they take the trash out?

While we were there, over 50 people of different nationalities (as well as staff) were seriously ill, some badly enough to end up in hospital. The hotel tried to disclaim all responsibility, so made no attempt to increase its cleaning and disinfecting regime, meaning that yet more people were exposed and fell ill. They tried to claim it was an illness brought by a British person into the hotel, and yet hospital tests showed guests riddled with amoemba and norovirus, which are only picked up from unhygenic conditions.

Had it been a cruise ship, everyone would have been taken off at the next port, and the ship disinfected from top to bottom. Instead, the hotel just insisted its procedures were up to scratch, and left it at that. What they ignored was that the procedures were being ignored.

It is impossible to say who started the outbreak, but it is clear that it spread like wildfire because of the underlying lack of hygiene in the hotel.

It is a real shame, as apart from the rip-off prices for anything non-inclusive, it was a great hotel, if too noisy at night to sit on the balcony.

But why take the risk? You may not know that you won't fall ill in another hotel, but you know that it could happen at any time at the Ela. Such a shame the management didn't put their hands up, and knuckle down to the problem, because then I'd be recommending you went.

The hotel is extremely huge and is located in Belek, near to the city of Antalya .The design of the hotel is inspired by traditional Ottoman architecture and I felt like I was a Sultan. I stayed there with one of my friends who is disabled and he lives in the UK. During our holiday I assisted my friend and we spent a lot of our time at the hotel and using the amenities. This gave me the opportunity to understand how good the service was.
The room that we stayed in was very good and comfortable and we were able to access the pier from it. One of the disadvantages of this hotel is that there was no equipment to assist a disabled person to go into the swimming pool. The other disadvantages are that there wasn’t any handles on the disabled bed unfortunately. However the staff were very helpful and the housekeeping team provided temproray special handles on the bed. Thank you again to them.
In addition to the extremely delicious buffet food offered three times a day, there was a luxury service offered at the pool bars for snacks. On a last note, I would recommend this hotel to anyone whether they are a couple or a family.

I booked this 10-day hotel destination just a few days before our wedding in mid-September through Thomsons (Classic Collection Holidays). It was advertised as 5 star, all-inclusive luxury hotel, which indeed it was! We had never taken an all-inclusive holiday before but in future, this will be the type of holiday we would go for. Following an efficient check-in we arrived at our room (forest view, amazing!) within minutes. The room was very spacious with a high standard of interior decor and fittings. The hotel staff had been alerted to our recent marriage and had placed a large bottle of champagne in the room, together with a large bowl of assorted fruit and assorted local sweet cakes together with a fridge full of assorted drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) plus an assortment of bottled drinks on the table (Gin, Vodka and Cocktail)!
The room service staff had also arranged (on the bed) an artful presentation of towels in the shape of swans with rose petals and two small heart-shaped cushions!! Apparently towel art is something the staff arrange on a daily basis and guranteed to raise a smile. The rooms are cleaned on a daily basis to a high standard by very friendly staff.
The hotel catered for every need imaginable (checkout its own website) for everyone - couples, singles and families and the location is right on the mediterranean. The temperature throughout our stay averaged around 90F every day.
The food was amazing, varied and always presented well in the various restaurants and poolside bar. Because we were all-inclusive all our drinks were included day or evening with the choice of either self service at the poolside bar or waiter service which was always prompt from polite staff. The buffet restaurant and poolside bar restaurant staff were equally polite and helpful and seemed to particularly enjoy meeting british people, not least to brush up on their english speaking skills! We tried to exchange a few words in Turkish each day with the staff (good morning, hello, thank you...) but not an easy language to learn! We struck a friendly, pleasant rapport immediately with our young table waiter in the buffet restaurant and he always made sure that we were directed to a table for all our meals.
There are lots of facilities for families with children including a creche/play/pool area and nightly evening entertainment e.g. acrobatic groups and ballroom dancing exhibition. There is also an open-air cinema area complete with cosy armchairs on the lawn with firework dispays on some evenings!
The beach area is sandy and stretches for miles in either direction and the hotel has its own small wooden pier for a small extra charge with sun-loungers and a bar but most people seem happy enough to use the hotel beach sun-loungers or likewise around the resort's pools.
Unfortunately I became ill after 7 days (acute appendicitis) but thankfully there was a nurse on duty in the hotel and he quickly arranged for a doctor to examine me and subsequently arranged to transfer me to a nearby hospital for surgery - a honeymoon to remember for lots of reasons!
Holiday Insurance...a good idea! and thankfully the Insurance company dealt with the costs and arranged for my wife and I to extend our holiday by 3 days at the same hotel, also paid by the Insurance company as I wasn't allowed to fly home for 6 days after surgery. Thankfully there was a very good language interpreter at the hospital, which made my experience so much the better and the care I received in the hospital was excellent. The same nurse from the hotel even came to see me in hospital to see how I was feeling. Like our young waiter this male nurse was polite and friendly and my wife and I feel we are richer for this experience (including the 4 days in hospital!), not least because of our two new-found friends from southern Turkey.
Our only criticism was with a couple of reception desk staff at the hotel whose basic public relations manner could have been better but otherwise we would definitely return to this hotel resort in the future, probably with some of our children and grandchildren.

The hotel was excellent. Fully justifies the class of 5 stars. The huge complex, beautifully arranged, hygiene is an excellent level. The rooms are neat and clean. The beach is maintained, the sea warm but hazy because of the sand. The hotel staff was polite, neat and speaks several languages, unlike the rest of the population. Slight advantage in serving with Russian guests, the hotel staff complaint. As far as food is concerned, you can never be hungry, because it is abundant throughout the day. Are represented and all kinds of international cuisine and dishes are varied. It takes several days to try out much of the food and still not be able to try everything because it is always something new and new! :) Drink in bars and restaurants varied and well. The hotel is suitable for families with children because it has all the required facilities. Those who are accustomed to an active vacation with a sunrise tour of operations, they must forget that since the hotel is 35km from Antalya (in addition to the poor transportation to the city), and the closest center of Belek is 2km away, and there is placed a small number of shops , completely uninteresting to tourists. Any recommendations if you want a passive home with plenty of food and drinks! :)
