Psssssssst..can you keep a secret ?
Nestled in a valley, deep in the southern mountains of Turkey there is a hotel…
A hotel that is quite literally off of the beaten track.
What can we say about this fine establishment ?
My better half and I opted for one of the annexe rooms, upon opening the door we were greeted by a light and airy room, it was a simple layout in a rustic, Turkish sort of way. On stepping out onto the veranda, a vista of the sun parched sprawling Turkish mountains towered before me, this image was then rudely brought to an abrupt end by the clatter of the wife's 18 pairs of shoes being lobbed into the copious wardrobe.
We found the room very clean and functional with air conditioning, dressing table , hair dryer and a communal iron and ironing board and a large shower and WC room. We found the bed very comfortable and the linen crisp and clean, the rooms are cleaned to a very high standard daily.
Our first afternoon was spent by the beautiful pool, sun loungers and parasols are a plenty, and it is here that we had the opportunity to meet some of the fabulous staff.
This small band of dedicated brothers and sisters really do have your best interests at heart .And over the following days of our holiday we learnt that each member possesses unique qualities that when all meshed together will make your stay here a seamless and effortless experience.
Sani Ye , our ever happy ,smiling cleaner. I can only guess that she must be a retired member of Turkeys special forces , she silently moves from room to room carrying out her duties with surgical precision, you wouldn't notice her , other than the fact that your room is spotlessly clean on your return from your day out.
Next is Elif..the young, quiet Turkish angel with her mysterious dark eyes, ,still learning her craft but she will strive to go over and above her remit to fulfil your requests.
Then there is Ibrahim, on occasion Turkeys answer to James Bond , at meal times he saunters, he positively glides and levitates among the tables, suave sophistication seeping from his pours, he will "waft" in and out of your presence, full of wit and banter, his sunglasses perched precariously upon his head .
Then there is his understudy, Aykut he too has an uncanny knack of knowing when your cup of fresh coffee needs refilling without you needing to look up from your table, he will glide past ,,flip the flask and be on his way. He will then retire to his corner , eyes like a hawk , ready to respond to the merest twitch of your eyebrow , like a well seasoned auctioneer.
And now Adam, the quiet man with 15 years experience working at Yakamoz and hence he will have come across virtually every eventuality thrown up by a guest and he can always find a solution to your proverbial fly in your ointment.
And Julie( she will take your booking ) she is the very oil, the lubricant , the balance spring that keeps this establishment , and your stay ticking like the jewelled movement of a fine Swiss timepiece. She makes the effort to meet all of you personally and knows your name before you have to introduce yourself. With our experience, if you need something outside of the day to day running of the hotel she will do everything possible to help you.
Last but by no means least Mehmet, the owner , from time to time he will come and speak to you and make sure your stay is running smoothly, so a real personal touch prevails throughout the hotel and how it runs.
There are 3 dining areas, 1 at each end of the bar and one inside.
We preferred to dine outside under a large grape vine, the canopy of which was festooned with Turkish lanterns and at night when they are lit , these only serve to enhance the ambience. There is also a mixture of traditional Turkish and modern background music, yes there is something quite surreal to be felt when tucking into a perfectly cooked fillet steak only to look up and see the wife shimmying to a bit of Elvis in such surroundings ! Again all tastes are catered for.
The internal dining / lounge area is a relaxing place , we decided to take our liqueur coffees in here, the walls are adorned with traditional drapes, handmade rugs and instruments..
Overall a wonderful time and a very relaxing holiday made better by staying here. This hotel can deliver, only please don't book up , because we would like a room free for our next holiday there .!!
