We arrived mid-afternoon to be welcomed by the owner, Musa Unsal, who showed us to our very clean, spacious double room with large en-suite shower room. The room had a double bed, air conditioning, sofa, ample storage / wardrobe, TV, fridge, kettle etc. Musa and his family could not have been more helpful. The hotel is located in the centre of Olu Deniz, just off the main thoroughfare, and in easy reach of the many bars and restaurants, no more than five minutes stroll from the beach. The hotel has a good sized, well kept and secluded pool with enough sun beds for the guests, and as a backdrop has a spectacular view of the mountains.

The inclusive Turkish breakfast was tasty - it varied little from day to day but alternatives could be ordered from the breakfast menu, including a full English. The restaurant offered a range of dishes one would expect from this type of holiday destination, but well cooked with excellent service. However, when we enquired about restaurants offering authentic Turkish food in the town Musa offered to prepare Turkish meals for us - we accepted and enjoyed two of the best suppers we had all holiday.

The only downside to the Unsal Hotel is completely beyond their control. Adjacent to the hotel is the dreadful N Joy karaoke bar which was open until 3am most nights we stayed, and the noise carried across to our hotel room - light sleepers WILL be disturbed by the noise. Musa, our holiday rep and we all asked the bar owner to switch off, or at least turn the noise down, after midnight (when local regulations say they should) but he was hostile and abusive and simply ignored the requests.

We had a fantastic holiday during an off peak week - we were looking for a relaxing break and found it at the Unsal. We would definitely stay there again if we went back to Olu Deniz.

Room Tip: Rooms nearer the reception / restaurant are going to be quieter than those nearer the karaoke bar and we would recommend avoiding the upper floor / east end of the hotel, despite the better views.

We decided to stay at this hotel because there were more people who were pleased than found it terrible. Upon arrival at our room it was found to be clean but very basic with almost no cupboards for our clothes for our two week stay. As we were very tired we went to bed early (10.30pm) but were woken during the night because of noise. Being a very busy resort it never seemed to close and then, to our amazement, a cockerel started crowing at 3.30am. There has been no mention of it on any other reviews and we couldn't believe it would occur in such a built-up area. My wife couldn't sleep for the constant noise of this creature and then, of course, at 4.45am there is the call to prayers. Fair enough - we are in their country - but it was something we hadn't taken account of when booking and this would obviously be the case whichever hotel you stayed in. The bed was comfortable as were the pillows but everything smelled of mothballs. There was a sheet for covering as well as a bedspread but they were not warm enough in themselves so we added a blanket. Unfortunately, this meant that the three items kept moving against each other which was dreadful as they kept falling on the floor and we were then uncovered. When we decided it was time for a shower the water took at least 15 minutes before it came through as tepid. So to breakfast which was all cheap food. Cheap bread, cold and uninteresting eggs, jam which resembled glue etc.etc. I could go on but what is the point? The Blue Star restaurant nearby is well worth a visit.

MusaUnsal, Manager at Unsal Hotel, responded to this reviewResponded 23 October 2012

I was not going to respond to this comment as there were some really unrealistic and funny critics. But i also know that some people would take these seriously so i need to write some about it. First of all, there are no cockerels around the hotel so i do not know whether you might have heard something else. As for the call to the prayers, this should not be an issue of complaint. It would be silly for me to come to england and complain about the church bells as they are a part of the daily life.
For the rest of your critics, i would like to assure you that, we will take them into consideration and do our best to make them better.
Thank you for your contributions to improve our quality of service

Spent 2 weeks at the Unsal, in mid May 2012 and we were well looked after my Musa and his lovely family. All rooms recently refurbished, and even basic, standard rooms have the creature comforts you would get at a 4 star hotel -tea and coffee making facilities, fridge and effective air conditioning (and no harsh rules imposed on their usage) .Delicious traditional Turkish breakfasts, with differentlocal dishes every day ( pancakes, borek, mushrooms and onions),home cooked snacks and even white mulberries fresh from the trees in the garden, provided by Papa. Loved the informality, spotlesly clean and true Turkish hospitality

Room Tip: Downside of this hotel location, even though it was very early in the season and it's away from the main bars and restaurants in town, is that it is still possible to hear the karaoke/ Elvis impersonator from the other side of town, singing into the early hours of the morning. Need to use industrial strength ear plugs / protectors to block out the noise which ever room you are in !

We spent three nights at the Unsal Hotel and found it to be very clean, comfortable and ideally located. Olu Deniz is not a quiet town but, while the Unsal is still just a block from the beach, it's off the main drags so is quieter than some other hotels. The gentleman who checked us in was extremely courteous and helpful and spoke perfect English. I highly recommend the Unsal!

I hadn't been to Olu Deniz since 1986 (when it was just a dusty-tracked, tiny hamlet, with a parking place and turning area for the dolmus from Fetiye). So when I decided to return in October 2011, I was worried that over-eagerness to make a tourist buck would have spoiled the place. I was so pleasantly surprised - of course, it has been commercialised, but tastefully and sensitively, and still remains a 'large village', but has virtually every service you could want.
The Unsal hotel was spotless, perfectly located, not too big but a decent size to have a nice boutique hotel atmosphere. We ate only breakfast there, which was absolutely fine - it was plentiful and with enough variety. No matter where you travel, you can find a fault if you look hard enough, but you'd have to be really small-minded to complain and let a hard-boiled egg spoil your stay at the Unsal.
The pool gardens are a gentle shaded oasis, and the pool is spotlessly clean. The restaurant bar area is shaded but bright and pleasant, and the staff are efficient and very discreet. All in all, a lovely hotel in a lovely spot, and good value.

Room Tip: Higher floors have better views: the odd lower room has a basement feel to it.
